man i miss the days when people didnt label shit... it was just metal, new generation are such little bitches i fucking swear....just relax and listen to the fucking music, i just call every thing heavy metal...not deathcore, not black metal, not this not that not barbie metal, not spice girls metal, not back street boys metal, just metal...
@turningundead I like genres, because there is so much music in the world and it makes it all much more simple when there is genres and I like to know what kind of music I want to search from interwebz and shit.. I wouldn't have even found this band if there wouldn't be subgenres and this is some really fucking awesome music. Everyone listens to music they want to and you can do it with genres and without genres. NOBODY CARES SO SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!
@turningundead genres are there to guide people if they're looking for specific music, you're not limited to set genres. nothing against you or anything, but raging over the genres doesn't do you justice, the only person who needs to care about the songs you like is yourself
One of the most brilliant composers of our time. Nothin compares to the feeling you get from listening to Alcest. Can't really describe what that is, but it just stirs up emotions
This is the most beautiful song I have heard in a long, long time. There is plenty of badass, brutal, awesome metal out there. But truly beautiful metal is rare.
@ZOSOrulz1 lol I guess those hipsters deserve it, I just looked up Burzum & personally, didn't find anything beautiful about their music O_o Alcest is waaay nicer
@kuromi07kawaii I guess its some post modern philosophy they're following, thinking theres beauty in it. Its interesting that Varg uses the worst recording techniques, but his music is definitely not beautiful. Black metal was originally meant to sound evil and brutal, and not to be beautiful.
@TheDepressed100 Isis is one of the most known post-metal band, just like Cult of Luna. I didn't know The Pax Cecilia, and listened them right away. A really nice band, but Alcest's sound and theirs are really different, imo.
English translation: Another Time A distant prayer, carried by the evening wind Enlivens leaves in their languid dance. Hear the song of the old trees, singing for you For the dark, resting woods. So many seasons have passed; they did not wait. The golden leaves dying on the ground Will be reborn under bright skies As this weatherworn world remains the same, And tomorrow, you and I will be gone. Courtesy of metal-archives[dot]com
I'm new to this band and I must say this is pure beauty! The clean vocals remind me a bit of the Italian band Novembre at times, they seems to be on a bit of a hiatus or something so I'll be happy with this album if they don't release anything again this year.
Will they ever disappoint their fans? This is just another fucking amazing track I've been listening to over and over. Love their sounds from the older more bm sounds to this and their shoegaze trancelike riffs LOVE LOVELOVE
L'album est un joyau dans la continuité des compositions d'Alcest, Neige pousse la qualité au maximum et nous offre de magnifiques offrandes. Un très bon album.
Someone almost fell asleep listening.... because perhaps they have to have their music always pounding to stim on. But does that say more about the music or a lack of ability to use brain cells in an expansive way?
Après l'écoute de ce premier morceau et après les premiers frissons, je me dis que cet album va être l'un si ce n'est le meilleur que Neige a réalisé, je me hâte vers le prochain morceau.
@BlackMetalMafia666 I'm not going to try and sugar-coat Alcest's new music direction, (because it is different, and this song in particular is borderline rock) but to me there is still that dream-like atmosphere present in the music. You may not see it, but perhaps someday you will.
I'm curious to know, and I'm hoping someone can answer. Alcest is often categorized under black metal. Is it because his lyrical themes incorporate anti-religion or is it because his music is styled and played in such a way that it can be considered black metal?
And please, no bantering about religion, just a straight up answer. Thanks.
@Shizzy77 Well, the music style is pretty "blackmetallish", at least on the previous releases. It's not Dartkthrone-styled black metal, it truly belongs to the third wave of BM. But Alcest is best described as blackgaze: black metal / shoegaze. Btw I thought Alcest's lyrics were mostly descriptive (I don't speak French).
@Shizzy77 I'm no expert on Alcest, but I do know the band started as a pure black metal and with subsequent releases incorporated shoegaze music into their style. Unless this song doesn't represent the rest of the songs on the album, I would say that they can no longer be classified as Black Metal by any stretch.
I know the second song in this album has a black metal element to it, but I can only tell from what I hear, since I don't understand french. Do you perhaps know the lyrical themes of this particular album? Thanks for the input by the way.
@Shizzy77 The translation for this song is found on darklyrics the theme seems to be melancholic/romantic A distant prayer, carried by the evening wind Enlivens leaves in their languid dance. Hear the song of the old trees, singing for you For the dark, resting woods. So many seasons have passed; they did not wait. The golden leaves dying on the ground Will be reborn under bright skies As this weatherworn world remains the same, And tomorrow, you and I will be gone.
