This was an awesome show... it was great to see "Sam Malone" Ted Danson be able to leave one of the most popular shows... "Cheers" and step into a great series. But for me, Bob seems to make the show much more entertaining. He's the Cliff Claven of Becker... without all the useless knowledge lol

I saw a few episode on cable. Cant get enough of Becker in coffee telling reggie his problems and ording 1 cup of coffer. Show is sorta lame at times and 1 season would of been good. I read there were 5 seasons. The blind guys not even believable. Any episode where becker plays basketball as there a basketball scene in awesome intro music.

I understand your point about Margaret. I think it's very nuanced, but it's there. It's like she's less of an authority, you know? Less "the mother" that she was throughout the show. It's like she didn't know who Margaret will be yet. She didn't have the scripts for all of the next seasons, naturally, so she had little to work with.

Interesting trivia about Shawnee Smith. Now when I think back, I did see her quite often with that labcoat.

I love watching the first episodes of shows I like, seeing how the actors aren't exactly wearing their characters like gloves, aren't playing them as they do throughout the series.

Look at Peg Bundy in the first Married with Children eps. Look at Margaret and Linda in this episode.

Ed O'Neil though was spot on. He was 100% Al Bundy from ep 1 and all throughout the series.

Becker is very funny!!! Ted Danson is one of the finest sitcom actors of our time. I get that mad with the world sometimes. So I can relate to Becker a lot. But he has patients that keep him going and they along with his friends seem to make him happy. That makes me happy too. He's not really a bad guy, just busy and wants to save the world. Becker rocks!!!
