  • There are so many comments on here from guys who think they know about racing which just proves how little they do know. The bottom line is that there are a lot of great drivers in the world and Danica is one of them. End of story.

  • Pretty boring

  • Cool to see Dan holding her off on the inside there.

  • I wonder what the engine life is? going flat out for almost 2 and a half hours. I love F1 but do admire the stress these machines are put through.

  • God damn, @coltcub64 makes Americans look bad. I swear not all of us are that retarded.

  • I love this vid. As a dihard Indy 500 fan I have always dreamed of taking a few laps around IMS at speed. This vid gives one the sense of being in the cockpit for 10 laps. Who cares what driver it is, I wish we could get a driver willing to document an entire race from their helmet cam, in order to see all 500 miles from the drivers' perspective.

  • You can't win a race when you lift off the gas that much, with 5 laps to go she should be pushing the gas petal thru the fire wall!! thats what happens when you have no BALLS!

  • @j58 And you have drove how many Indy cars ? LOL

  • @j58 That's what's called saving fuel and dirty air. You can't comment on things like this if you don't know shit about aerodynamics when you have no BRAINS!

  • fuck i hate this chick.

  • @zachary664 she hates you too

  • @sarapoperszky good for her :)

hopefully she tellsme herself one day!

  • left, left, left. how boring

  • all i know is that when i played gran turismo, oval tracks were way harder for me than other ones wheni raced with equal cars to the other players

  • all i know is that when i played gran turismo, oval tracks were way harder for me than other ones

  • Looks like iRacing! lol.

  • 12:04 radio: good job good job... wtf? she was clearly faster than that guy and coludnt pass him in 10 laps :S

  • wow oval racing.. boring.. F1 is the shit!

  • How does this not become like a video game (assuming part of training is to block out the physical aspects) after 200 laps of going around a circle at 220 mph?

  • you cant really validate the talent of a driver on tracks like this. i have no doubt indycar drivers are exceptionally talented but put them on better tracks. americans need to look at tracks like spa, suzuka, silverstone etc.

  • @sdtaylor91, Yes can't validate their talents on the first ever paved race track in the world and the fastest race track. Typcial European. Doesn't understand how grueling and historic the Indy 500 is. Only the greatest race ever. More international drivers come to run the Indy 500 than there are Americans who go run boring, no passing F1.

  • @coltcub64 Yes gruelling and historic, entertaining, with passionate fans. but not as demanding on the driver as the race tracks i mentioned before. these tracks don't test how good a driver is under braking or how good they are at putting the power down out of a corner for example. F1 is the premier class of motorsport with the best drivers in the world. If you put f1 cars on massively high speed tracks like this there would be just as much passing.

  • @webjoyz I think danica car was lil loose y she was lifting. Cuz shes rly lift off the throttle on 1 but they also lift a lil to save he tires since indyvis a brutal track on the tires

  • boring...

a few times, she gets back and she lfts up!

    no gutts!!

wanna come to Formula One? lol

  • @webjoyz i've never seen formula one racing at 230 mph inches from concrete wall

  • @ooUooUoo

ive never seen an f1 race where the cars go round, literally in circles. though to be fair, Danica is using all her brain power and driving skills to turn left, without using the brake - its really impressive stuff.

  • @schumiisking it's obvious that you're having problems of using those small % of human brain power so i'll just end it here before you suffer some more brain damage...

  • @ooUooUoo

ive just stated a fact, indycar and nascar literally go round in circles. therefore the logical conclusion is it doesn't take anywhere near as much skill as F1, clearly. because they dont drive around in literal circles. did you know these cars can also steer in other directions? amazing innit.

you havent stated any facts in your response. 0wned.

  • @schumiisking i feel bad for you... why did they let you live if you were born that stupid? they should have just hit you with some brick and make use one big favour...

  • @schumiisking, Handling the cars also come into play more in IndyCars and Nascar. Running at those speeds and passing cars and cars passing you. You better be able to control the car when its set up on the edge like that. I fail to see how driving around in place for 13 turns per lap is driving. Hey, every morning I stay in the same lane on the interstate making about 13 turns too. I bet I could go drive F1 now too.

  • @schumiisking, Just like F1 couldn't figure out how to run the crown jewel track of IndyCar. The U.S. Grand Prix = the most boring fucking race I ever saw. F1 was so dumb, they couldn't even figure out what tire to run there. Also, how many drivers actually win a F1 race? Maybe 3 drivers per season. The same guy wins the championship every year. It obviously takes a lot of skill then. From the looks of it, I could jump in F1 tomorrow and finish 2nd at worst in points.

  • every year at midohio she gets passed on the last lap in the esses. Last year she was passed by two different cars at the same time there. This despite illegally blocking for the entire race but never being penalized for it.

  • anyone else get bored after the first minute of this

  • she lost the race at the 3. corner..

  • so lame but the speed is amazing and who said girls cant drive

  • oval circuits are booooooooooooooooooooooring!!!

have a look to this video, it's Alonso with the Ferrari F10 setting the pole position in Monza 2010!

    watch?v=KsXDDtRsKSc

  • It's the driver's decision. Sit tight and look for a mistake from the leader, or push it and maybe end up not with 2nd but nothing. Many drivers who sat tight in 2nd have had the win handed to them with a leader's malfunction in the last 10 laps. Who can say what the correct choice is, unless you've been there.

  • you would think your ass would get sore for sitting in a car for over 3 and a half hours.

  • @18sux29rox Absolutely! My thoughts exactally...Amazing that they do it and keep such a high level of concentration. As much as I like road racing, for me Indy is special. Also as much as I am a Danica fan, the fact that she hung in there and maintained position on the lead lap (to me) is just phenominal! Your thoughts?

  • @MichaelIanHenry Yeah,, i mean the people how think nascar and indy and all racing is just guys racing around on a closed track is very misleading. The work on and off the track to be competitive these days is nothing short of amazing and to me inspirational to later have a career in the motorspeedway. I just love racing and, they say everyone has a little racing blood in them, but im all racing!!!

  • @18sux29rox LOL!!!!! I'm with ya brother! Being a man of modest means myself, and a long time vintage VW owner/ freak (lol) I'm trying to work on getting a formula Vee car going (hopefully) Do you know about Formula Vee? Great way for the lil guy to join in affordable competitive racing. Have a great day...Mike

  • somehow i felt sleepy...

  • I think in Dan and Danica did not have that incident @ milwaukee back in 2007 those 2 could have teamed up on Helio and possibly could have beaten him

  • Racing cars is similar to flying aircraft . There are bold pilots and old pilots .... but there are no old, bold pilots .

  • Comment removed

  • Kerrywsmyth , it looks like you owe Danica an apology ! She finished 2nd at the Texas 550 this weekend and drove the wheels off of it !

  • @prsjoe Honestly that was the race that finally shut me up. The thing to remember about danica is she's not one of those driver's who can work in any car. If the car's to her liking tho watch out cuz she really drives. If the car's freaking her out she goes into survival mode and has trouble.

  • Try to cut her some slack . She FINISHED 6th in the Indy 500 ! Let's keep in mind that one mistake and she can die . If her car was handling perfectly , she wouldn't lift in corners .

  • As one that truly roots for Danica, this video is unbelievably frustrating to watch. It confirms what I always thought about her - she is a great driver but a bad RACER. It was clear to me that she was afraid to get very close to Weldon, and she was also not committed to over taking him in that first lap. She was driving not to wreck and not to give up 3rd. That's not racing and thats why Weldon finished higher. She has to learn to take chances or she will NEVER win without luck.

  • or perhaps her mechanics and pit crew dont prepare her car as well as her male team mates cars. I think go daddy should focus their main energy on danica and give her the best opportunity to win, and make that their priority.

  • she is a good driver but I noticed in the turns she backs off and slows down ever so slightly, maybe because she doesnt have balls? what do you think ?.

  • @quietandaction yup. she backs off so she won't be up close to the wall when she exits the corner, which is a lack of "balls". get up on that wall girl, just passed him with ease in the first few seconds then you get left in the dust. can't be doin this stuff in nascar now.

  • @JDGDrift Haha this is why I love Youtube, she is able to to finish the indy 500 not only on the same lap as the likes of Dario but he was like 4 places behind her, but she can also finish on the lead lap. Id consider myself a good driver but Im sure if I drove that car, Franchitti would take 30 seconds a lap out of most of us :)

  • Is turning right a difficult maneuver in America?

  • @noodleninjaa The tradition of left handed oval racing comes from the "Horse and Buggy" era in America. Once automobiles were phasing out horses and naturally people being competitive well people started to race one another. Then business minded people thought "Hey" we can make money at this, and since oval horse racing tracks were already established in America...well there ya go! I know this is an over simplification, but I wanted to give you a little insight as too the why oval racing thing

  • She should have keep in line with weldon going into 3 on that last lap maybe could have got a even better run off of 4.

  • I hope the Izod IndyCar Series will be exciting next year. I hope the Penske/Ganassi domination completely ends and the racing is more competitive again with all of the teams. I also hope one day that there will be more engine manufacturers in IndyCar joining Honda. Go Danica!

  • heh wow...

its hard to tell where to start with this guy.

  • The whole idea of the USF1 team is for it to be completely American...that includes the driver! No European drivers on this team!

  • @Arch042766

    usf1 not exist !!!

F1 World Championships start on March 14..

this American team where is ???

    F1 not accept dubt project..

    F1 is the real motorsport.

  • USF1 does exist and are ready for the first race in March...however the driver is from Argentina and not the US!

  • @Arch042766 Im sorry it doesnt exist, it never did in reality, all they had was a nosecone and some electrical wires. It has been disbanded, Im sorry your faith was so misplaced.

  • Listen how flat the revs are...this IRL package sucks..bring back turbos, 900 hp, take the aero crap away, and let the brave drivers have at it like it used to be

  • being in an open cockpit car like this at this track especially going 225 mph must be such and amazing feeling!

  • @manwithface10 Respect tpo the Indycars,try F1

  • @manwithface10 going half that speed in tight corners is even more thrilling

  • She had the speed to pass him , but she didn't use it .. it takes nerve to keep the foot down hard when you lose some aerodynamic downforce through the turns when following closely , but thats what you gotta do if you're going to use the draft to its maximum benefit

  • I bet she would have completed the pass with Push2Pass (although Wheldon probably would have used it too)

  • @THEkingjaymz i dont thin they had it in the 500 im sure it came later in the season

  • That's why I said she *would* have, as in hypothetically.

  • Danica ROCKS

  • So damned smooth behind the wheel of a car...I watch the race weekly and always with the In-Car running on my PC!

  • this not boring u just have to be patient in second don't rush it

  • hey even though its boring, its pretty cool with the indy car around Indianapolis

  • Sorry but that is just boring.. Indy should race more on normal tracks not ovals cars are good but ovals are boring

  • Finished 5th at Mil Mile. Fourth in the championship standings.

  • I have watched the whole race from this camera so I don't have to imagine. Imagine that it's very hot and you're driving in a fire-proof suit for those 200 laps... And those cars don't have power steering...

I still don't understand why she let go the throttle after the restart. She was in front of Dan Wheldon.

  • She was a bit in front of Dan but he was on the inside and she was on the outside, so she didn't risk cause it's almost impossible to safely overtake an opponent on the outside in Indianapolis500.

  • You usually drive it from the outside to the inside and back to the outside. Anyway I don't know the rules of oval tracks as they are probably different than F1's who's in front can always drive his best line.

Anyway if you want to play it safe then it was a good decision as this maneuver would always be risky.

Too bad she messed up one of her pits, she might have been in front during that last restart.

  • usually if the person on the outside has at least a nose, the guy on the inside will breath the throttle, but wheldon wasnt going to give up that spot that late in the race, it was 50/50

  • OMG she is good at the wheel... racing so fast takes a lot of talent.

Beautiful and fast.... what a woman!

  • Imagine doing that for 200 laps.

She still need to beat Wheldon one on one.

  • Helio deserve to win Indy 500 for his family and re-gain his life racing career and a great job for Danica Patrick podium finish is great. but in May of 2010 next year it will be her month of May. If she keep this up in 2009 she'll win some races and contend for the IRL Championship.

  • great video :) she was really trying and fighting to keep that car on the track..still though great finish

  • grande DANICA!!
