  • This ship does not exist in the real world.................. hahahahahahahaha :)

  • Too bad that captain cant say he tripped into a lifeboat...

  • I can't understand...that with the thousands of people on this ship...like 5 people survive...surely there would have been others who were just in little average sized corridors...who would have been like "right...that capsizing was pretty wank...lets get out now". for example, all the people in the club who left before the electrocution? or people in their cabins...or save that...a toilet cubicle...

  • ile było ofiar

  • don't sail a cruise ship when Happy New Year

  • For me, this was the best 9 minutes out of the entire movie.

  • ale jak to było

  • 1:30 dude, thats Rob Dyrdek!!!

  • This sorta thing happens to me every time I step on a boat.lol. Seriously tho, rogue waves in the open ocean exactly like this have been scientifically proven to exist. They're caused by the harmonics of multiple waves fronts occasionally combining into one mega wave. Tsunami's however only occur as waves break on a coast line, caused by the upward thrust of the sea floor during an earthquake and are never more about 30 feet high.

  • Except of course for tsunami that are caused by land slides or ocean impacted meteor strikes, which have no limit on how massive they can be.

  • i remember the first time i watched it. the next day we were going on a cruise ship to tasmania and i was scared shitless!!!

  • Imagine this happening to Oasis of the seas.

  • The thing that's really scary is, something like this CAN actually happen which is why I'm scared of going on cruise ships. ALL it takes is a tsunami ANYWHERE in the ocean that can cause a big enough tidal wave to flip a ship over. Anytime. Anywhere. They're so unpredictable. Doesn't matter the odds of it. One day it will happen.

  • @xLipsOfDeceit7x This clip is definitely haunting. It's amazing when you consider how big ships are nowadays... so huge.. yet so vulnerable.

  • @SirtubalotTX Exactly & anything can happen. The Titanic already proved that NOTHING is unsinkable. It doesn't matter if it's 2012, these ships are still vulnerable to anything

  • Costa Concerdia ;)

  • JESUS FUCKING CHRIST!!!!!!!

  • is it ironic to empathize more with the ship in this movie rather than the main characters?

  • The book and thus the movie were inspired by an event during world war 2, where the Queen Mary, operating as a troop transport ship with 16,000 onboard, was hit by a 92ft (30m) wave on it's broadside, tilted 52 degrees, and then slowly righted itself. Engineers assessing it afterward concluded that had it tilted another 3 degrees it would have capsized.

So while it's extremely unlikely, it's not impossible. Rogue waves can and do occur.

  • ale fala w nich uderzyła

  • This movie is racist

Not a single black guy survived

  • When the captain said, "DID YOU FEEL THAT ?...........SOMETHING'S OFF !" What did he feel ? Did the level of the ocean rise or drop, or something, before the wave hit the ship ? Did he feel the ship suddenly tilt, or was there a bump/movement that only an experienced seaman might have felt ?

  • Do you think they can get the Posedion Boat out even tough its not a Real Ship????

  • HEY ! THEY DIDN'T EVEN GET A NEW SHELLY WINTERS CHARACTER (MRS. ROSEN), THE MIDDLE-AGED OVERWEIGHT LADY ! I LIKED HER ! LOL !

  • should have renamed it this will never make you ride a cruise ship again

  • Who the fuck sticks a piano to the cieling

  • @NBAKaizer so if the ship is in rough weather it wont slide of stage crushing people

  • @NBAKaizer Its stuck to the floor lol. the ship is upside down though.

  • Look at the positive side of things 6 people made it out :D

  • @NBAKaizer Yeah, six out of like 2000 or so. But still a 0.3% survival rate is better than a 0.0% rate.

  • Yeah im guessing people died in the initial wave :/

  • my favorite part is 4:48 - 4:52 does anyone know what scenes like these are called because i would like to watch more people burn alive

  • @BellSouthSucks

Could it be called a FLASH FIRE scene ? :D

  • @BellSouthSucks

Would a movie like BACKDRAFT be close to what you're looking for ? It deals more specifically with FIRE instead of a TSUNAMI. : )

  • happy new year posiedon

  • The chances of this happening on a current cruise liner is very unlikely. First modern cruise ships have stabilizers which basically makes the ship float able. Watch semester at sea 2005 there ship went through an Alaskan Hurricane the ship turned 45 degrees on its side and still survived. a wave this big would just wipe out basically all the balcony cabins on the side cause major class damage and have major injuries and some fatal.

  • @Sillysore What if they didn't deploy the stabilizers to increase the speed of turning?

  • 7:52 QUICK! Her cat' stuck on a tree!!!

  • NOOO!!! ERGIE MUST'N DIEEE!!!!!

  • omg the the kid is screaming mom when shes right there trying to grab him XD at 3:13

  • I love how many mistakes I found in this movie, specially on how they tried to turn the ship around lol

  • wow i wouldn't wanna go to that disco! :0 xx

  • OMG is that fergie falling? xD i was like Who the fuck is that and then i saw the pink dress and i was like OMG there she goes!!

  • @kilijin1233 yup

  • 6:23 zombies on a cruise ship

  • @megatron45ful They should make a sequel to this movie called Zombies on Poseidon haha(:

  • I know the new Poseidon looks incredible! Thanks, Queen Mary 2 n.n

  • Get it? The stern says "Southampton" cause that was where the Titanic left port.

  • @xxPatheticEmoxx

the stern says "Southampton" because that is the ocean liner's Port of Registry". Not because they named it after Titanic :P. Some ocean liners have other ports of registry, such as the RMS Queen Mary which has a port of registry in Liverpool

  • wait wouldnt they want to turn to port

  • @Shakeshack78...you're so right. Yes, this a lavish, over the top Tiranic-esque scene, but it's all too much. You're too distracted by the cgi crap, not to mention, the actors are too young...it's fun to watch, but give me Rev. Scott rolling over the table w Linda Rogo, and the Christmas tree dropping from the ceiling!

  • is it hard to swim in a formal gown?

  • i am working on cruise ship......

  • 4:43

    almost made it....

    (boom)

    mother fucker

  • Comment removed

  • se essa desgraça desse pra botar em hd seria bem melhor

  • I find it interesting how even when everyone is celebrating, the background music is not as cheerful and upbeat as you think it would be, it's almost as if even the music is trying to warn them of the coming disaster.

  • 3:22 now thats a wave pool

  • The original was so much better

  • (over intercom) hold on to something tight and plz dont panick!!!! there is a roge tsunami wave heading for the ship i repete no panicking!!!!! crowd of (people) panick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! intercome: why do i evan bother n_n

  • So much of this is computer animated. No version of the Poseidon Adventure comes close to the original 1973 classic. Especially the Acting!!!! The moral here is don't F--k with a classic!!!!

  • at 1:31 "shit got real face"

  • wave surfing 3:23

  • Poseidon tipped his ship down!

    Because his name was stolen!

  • @Romerjon17 posiden knows concept of copyright owneship

  • What an electrifying end to the clip........

  • Note to self: Never set foot on a cruise ship... titanic and posiden have proven their dangers

  • @Jerraider84 Titanic happened over 100 years ago and Poseidon is fictional. Get over it.

  • @Doum92 LOL, im joking yeesh

  • Happy New Year, most of them were dead within an hour, so much for a Happy New Year.

  • is that sigourney weaver? 6:20

  • Fergie!! Why'd you die??

  • @Clb331005 i know right

  • para

  • You know, I really would like to see how they filmed the capsizing part.

  • @spiceykid09 it was CGI on exterior shots, and two sets were made, rightside-up ans upside-down

  • Sorry but I like the original version better. This one is fine, but no CGI for the original. The actors and extras were really thrown about on the set at the time. Maybe it wasn't as exciting as this version but it made a difference to me. CGI just looks so fake to me.

  • You know, this isn't science fiction. Rogue Waves can be that powerful

  • I'm looking at the comments of this video, What are YOU doing right now? n_n

  • WATER + INSANE CHAOS = WOLFGANG FFING PETERSON!! ;0 'das boot' is his most perfect film, goes without saying...

  • Won't be more logical to not turn? To face the wave head on? It is a big ship.

  • @HiroKiche they were turned sideways, and were trying to turn the ship and face the wave head on. They ship just couldn't move it's fat ass quick enough xD

  • @iiDRUMiiPS3 Not only was the ship going too slow, the wave was travelling too fast. By the time they saw it, it was already too late.

  • @RetroVideoFan if they had activated the bow thrusters earlier they may of had a better chance

  • @cartledgej Maybe they might have. But we'll never know though.

  • @cartledgej bow thrusters at that sort of speed are ineffective anyway

  • I'm not sure if such freak waves are possible, but there's one impossible thing here for sure - escape from the ship.

  • this movie has too much detail lol

  • Water and electricity don't mix. With exposed power cables and plenty of water flowing in, the crew and passengers are in for a very, very, bad night.

    Happy new year!

  • Fergie must have had the feeling this wasn't going to be a good good night

  • DO NOT NAME A SHIP POSEIDON OR THE GOD OF THE SEA AND SINK IT ON NEW YEARS

  • imagain being in the swimming pool or the elavator or the ballroom infact anywere and why is it that every ship sailing from England to the U.S sinks??

  • Kurt Russell's like "Why the fuck is everyone running? I'm on this boat."

  • new years is just another day

  • Why do I watch these kind of movies? ç.ç I'm scared.

  • me encanta eta pelicula

  • Most Epic Barrel Roll of all time?

  • wuaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaauuuuuuuuuu☺☻♥

  • i could not imagine being on that ship during all of this

  • Well this is depressing...

    like hell on earth.

  • come on come on turn!

  • Awesome visual effects!

  • i noticed that factual error when i saw this movie in theaters in 2006

  • thumbs up if you think the moral of this story is don't go on a cruise ship on New Years!

  • @StupidBlech

I think the moral of the story is "If you want a safe boat trip, DON'T NAME YOUR DAMN OCEAN LINER POSEIDON OR THE GOD OF THE SEA WILL SEND A GIANT WAVE TO CAPSIZE YOU!"

  • @StupidBlech Nope the moral of the story is : "When sailling on the ocean make sure your ship can turn around and dash outta there in high speed.

  • @StupidBlech No I think the real moral of this film is don't name your ship after the God of the Sea, and then sail it on New Years Eve.

  • @StupidBlech or perhaps at all...

  • 6:40 lol u hear the guy he goes DAH lolololoololololololol

  • Do they get refunded?

  • at 4:32 it is quite inaccurate because it is immposible to fall out of a glass lift when your leaning against the glass

  • and then came the QM2, so large you would need a wave twice this size to capsize :D

  • @samwula Entertainment Weekly did the calculations and said that the Poseidon is actually only 31 1/2ft shorter than the QM2.

  • the deck looks like bloody star wars

  • fuck i wanna see the rest

  • @DancingMedicineMan I seen it and gave me lots of creeps!

  • NAGYONM JÓÓÓÓÓÓÓÓÓÓÓÓÓÓÓÓÓÓÓÓÓÓÓÓÓÓÓÓ amugy nem anita vok a nevem norbi csak nővérem gépéné vok

  • Why do people keep comparing this movie to Titanic? The Titanic was a historic event. Poseidon is just one of those your typical fictional Hollywood disaster movies, like Twister or Cloverfield.

  • @Mikkedev Me too, again and again.

  • i want to be on this cruise except that i'm in a giant plastic bubble.

  • Wow so cool when it flip over lol I watch the old version but this version I liked :)

  • hanep>>>

  • 0:27 the tsunami hits

  • im going on a carnival cruise this summer in August, i hope this doesnt happen LOL

  • That was not a factual error. The ship rolled upside down then rolled halfway back up again, then sank back down. They did cut a good 30 seconds from it, but it is correct.

  • @highoctanetech Yeah but for a cut, you need to do this scene again so it's an error

  • @tsukune007

Actually they said "starboard" which is "right" but yea putting everyone in panic was stupid lol

  • correct lines should be.

    Capt: Hard Left.

    Crew: Hard left.

Capt: Close all water tight doors and sond life boad stations.

  • insert the song morning after

  • I would've flew anyway :)

  • best scene of the film, practically the wave went around the ship just that I fail to stabilize and return upside down, that poor poor people just rolled and rolled all over the place where they were ... without doubt the best of the movie !!!!!!!!

  • @aries270392 that is were you are dead wrong. the 1974 version was way better, had an all start cast and won an acdamy award for the movie. this version is a POS and it didn't follow the book. when you get the chance i think you should shck that version out.

  • @tsukune007

The original was made in 1972, and it FLIPPED the point of the book. Seriously, in the book their journey through the ship was pointless, because the survivors who stayed in the ballroom were rescued, in the 1972 movie instead they're the sole survivor. So much for being faithful to the book...

  • Best scene in the movie. Unfortunately the rest of the movie is meh. Also what really ticks me off is that the old guy is going to commit suicide, but sees the wave coming and has a sudden change of heart. Why show him doing that if he wasn't going to let himself die. They only did that so you could see the wave coming. Ugh I hated that character so much and he didn't die.

  • the left side of the ship ripped apart 4:42 when it was hit by the wave on its right.

  • @icedevastator it flipped completely on it's port side and then overturned onto it's hull.. it's not an error

  • what would have happened if they jus sailed straight thru the wave?

  • @denzsbest it would have done some structural damage but the ship would have been fine. the safest way to hit a wave is always head on bc you will most likely go over it. otherwise you will just flip over

  • @D3MON4t3R

The wave was spotted too late, and the ship turned too slowly, hence why the ship was struck on the side. To be fair there are stories on the Great Lakes of rouge waves snapping large freighters in two

  • Chuck Norris farted

  • At 8:30, everybody loves kicking off the new year with a nice flesh cooking high voltage electrocution made possible by a lack of GFIs, exposed wiring and ionic salt water.

  • Superb elevator crash and people falling to their death at 4:33. That tempered glass that is required by fire codes is what actually killed her by shattering under the weight of her body.

  • Oh good, tomorrow i go in cruiser, saw this video was a big big error!!

  • I feel like a dumb ass. I only learned a few days ago that this was a fictional movie....I've always thought it was based off a true story :I

  • @yoshiscute Almost all of these Hollywood disaster movies are completely fictional.

  • @MIKON8ERISBACK try reading the book, it's much better and also check out the 74 version of the movie, it's 10x a hell of a lot better then this version.

  • @tsukune007

    1972.

  • Stupid people u go directly into it not side ways dumb asses

  • @Himiname1s I was thinking the EXACT Same thing LOL

  • @Himiname1s Wtfk... they did try doing that but they didnt have time.

  • we anyone hurt ?

  • The Poseidon disaster was a real event, but unlike the Hollywood portrayal of the disaster, it was a Navy submarine not a cruise liner and it wasn't hit by a rogue wave, but a Chinese Merchant ship. So this movie changes almost the whole entire true story.

  • 3:23 WOW thats one hell of a wave machine

  • look it's fergie! 2:27

  • I was in this movie

  • @Caramderson really?? who did you play?

  • damn Sea...you scary!

  • Turn the ship. Emergency stations. Oh, and maybe we oughta let those people up top know that a huge wave is coming so they can try to avoid being washed away

  • It wasn't a real ship it's just a movie.

  • Fuck you king Neptune!!!!! :{[

  • about your comment in the video: didn't the ship actually flip over, then dove into the water and came up the other side, bevor it swam up side down? that's how i figured it out, but maybe i'm wrong... i dunno

  • Fact...The Crew ALWAYS dies first!

  • The crew didn't send out an SOS.. so where did the choppers come from at the end of the movie? I doubt a flare is visible from that far.

  • @Thedutchjelle Maybe it was on automatic.

  • @Thedutchjelle They explain later that the ship has GPS

  • I didn't watch the movie but at the end of this video, did the electricity kill almost everyone? cause after that it was almost dead silent.

  • @NFLization

No, but almost everyone die later.

  • The old dude who was just about to jump off and kill him said was confronted by a tidal wave and the tidal wave told him: "Hey buddy, no worries I got your back. No harm, no foul, ey?"

  • @NFLization

i know this is gonna be marked as spam but are you canadien cuz you said ey

  • @NFLization The "old dude" is Richard Dreyfuss who starred in American Graffiti and Jaws and won an Oscar for The Goodbye Girl.

  • This fake

  • Sorry, but the original was a lot better. Leslie Nielsen and Gene Hackman were great. The first one had a lot better theme song.

  • I survived, I swam down got a lifeboat, they never showed me in this film, and I always wondered why they had camera crew on the ship

  • poseidon got pissed of that some one stole his name and he wanted to fight the 2nd poseidon

  • titanic

  • Thats well be soo scary if you were ont it
