attatch the line from your rod to the boat with a clip from a down rigger then when you get a bite it will let go and you can reel em in without drowning your boat

I actually designed a great system. You attach the line from your rod to a two foot pole on the boat using a rubber band. (Wrap the band at the end and put a loop of line through it) When you hook a fish, the line releases and you just reel the fish in while the boat is free. The only issue is keeping your line clear while you are driving the boat around.

Not sure if that would be legal in certain places due to fixed line laws in case the fish are left with the lure after they break free. Kinda fun to watch though.

If you look at the back of the boat, I built a bar around the back that swivels around the bottom of the boat on a spring to minimize the effect on the line.
