Hvorostovsky - Don Carlo - Death of Rodrigo

I heard D. Hvorostovsky for the first time in L.A. in 1989 at the Ebell Theatre. He came with a group of Russian singers headed by none other than the great Irina Arkhipova. D. Hvorostovsky was only 26 years old, completely unkown at that time, and sang this same aria; sadly the theatre was less than 50% full. Martin Bernheimer of the LA Times stated in his review the following day, "If he always sings as he did on this occasion, he could have the world at his feet. "The rest is history.

@witness124 Rodrigo is shot by an assasin and tells Carlo (his best buddy and, depending on how you interpret the opera, love interest) that he dies for him gladly, that Carlo's destined to be Spain's new saviour, and wishes that Carlo never forget him. Then he dies.

@bodiloto . C 'est vrai que les technicien du suono ont fait un bon travail mais il a une tres belle vocce et poi c'est un russe , les russus ont toujours des tres bons barytoni et bassi. vous les italiens vous n'avez plus nessuno actualmente .

Actually, this was shown on a Russian TV, so I don't think there was too much work done by sound engeneers in terms of enhancing the actual voices.

@buthqir hélas,purtroppo  non sono Italiano, grazie per la informazione ma per me qusto che lei dice non é vero,attualmente i migliori bassi nel mondo sono 2 bassi Italiani,per i baritoni attualmente nel Mondo ci sono 6 baritoni migliori per me dal DH uno fra loro é Italiano .
