Lovely car. I'm happy to see it respected. I remember when I was little, I would hear a car coming down the street and knew it was a Buick without seeing it, because the engine had that wonderful deep rumbling sound.
Very nice Buick, looks like new. My dad bought a 52 Special new. I was 10 years old it was dark green on the lower and cream color on top. Yours brings back memories. Thanks
@BuzzyFredrick. Not really any major differences. The mechanics are still basically the same. The throttle mechanism, speedo cable and gear linkage are all jury-rigged or just reversed. The dashboard is identical but reversed, the battery was underneath the driver's seat rather than in the engine bay - I've had it repositioned in the trunk for ease of access.
Hey there - you're right, all you do with the key is turn on the electrics and the fuel pump which is the rumble you can hear when the ignition is turned on. Then you start her on the gas pedal!

Very nice car, the lines remind me of Cadillac's of the same era.

Huh?! The steering wheel is on the wrong side. Must have been in a wreck.

My Dads 1948 Buick Roadmaster will start one pump or no pumps , If you start daily or drive it everyday . If it sits you have 2 pump more times .

I've never seen a right-hand drive Buick. How about taking it for a drive?

Any other differences between this and north american built buicks of the day? Apart from the obvious steering side.

BEAUTIFUL! And, only four pumps of the gas pedal to start? Wow...
JSneaker 1 year ago
@JSneaker. Our '49 is way different. Starting from cold with the '49, takes at least 8 pumps and 4 or 5 goes on the starter!
collierandrew 1 year ago
Andrew, would you please try to do a start-up of the '49 for us, with the foot-action?
That is really cool you have more old Buicks!

@JSneaker Sure! She's having a front suspension rebuild at the moment but I should get her back in two or three weeks!

Built by General Motors South Africa and imported into the UK in 1984. Hence being right hand drive!

Wonderful car. I bought one of these in black back in 1962 when I was in college.
I paid $90.00 for it. Wish I had it now.
