Resident evil 4 was originally going to be more supernatural with ghosts and demons and be more like silent hill, but they felt that drifted too far from resident evil, but they liked a lot of it so they went off and made the devil may cry series, as a result there are several similarities, specifically things they decided to keep in resident evil 4
