  • The flame pulls on the oxygen in your ear, which in turns pulls on the wax in your ears. It's called convection. You can actually use a rolled up news paper, you don't need a wax candle.

The more "educated" people become the more ignorant they get.

  • wtf??? u idiots saying its fake and crap are you stupid as fuck? ive done it, and friends have done this, its not ''illegal'' in the US and there not banned, it dont cause problems, it actually helps you, it breaks all the clogged wax in ur ear drum that you build up from using qtips..

  • coz there are more IDIOTS in the US than any where in the world.....

  • @proximity30 lol, as a citizen of the US, i can confirm this statement. We are have a very sorry bunch of under-informed people in this country =P this practice is so unsafe xD

  • @DaveASL took you long enough to reply.....4 months....i stand with my statement....LOL

  • @proximity30 lol, and as i re-read this i noticed my grammar was totally fucked up too, it figures lol. although in my defense it was late at night and i had been signing anyway, which has a different grammar structure than english xP

  • Dude, the blunt goes in your mouth not your ear

  • Remember Bob Newhart's sketch on Sir Walter Raleigh discussing tobacco and how to use it. Remember how stupid he made it sound? Okay, now picture a person on a couch, with a paper plate on the side of his head, and a candle in his ear. Okay, now light the candle.... The question is: Does he feel as stupid as he looks?

  • It is illegal to sell these items in Canada. Health Canada has not issued any licences for ear candles. Therefore, the sale of this product for therapeutic purposes in Canada is illegal. As well, both Canada and the United States have issued directives that ban the importing of ear candles.

  • They work if done right. FDA can't comment because it's homeopathic and no one in the Government or big business can capitalize on it. (never use Google, do your homework on them)

  • @tintdawg Homeopathic? Please explain. Other than having no benefit (the chimney effect does not produce any change in tympanometric pressure) there are definite risks involved in the use of these products.

I suppose you could argue that, similar to Homeopathy, they have no real effect other than as a placebo. Search

Ear candles-efficacy and safety in PubMed.

  • i constantly get blocked ears so i tried a few different ear candles to find out. none worked. went to the doctor and he cleared both my ears easily with a syringe. now i can hear perfectly.

  • just show the fucking wax and shut up asshole.

  • norma seems to think these work i told her she is nuts and made a joke about it causing a back draft like the movie in your ear.!!!!! lol

  • lol she said ball shit

  • ear candles do not work and are very dangerous! when i used them the burning wax/wick ashes fell into my ear and burned my ear drum! I couldn't hear right for weeks. Do not use these they are a scam and they can permanently damage your hearing.

  • @jwallbanger i use them to remove wax all the time, never had any problems. Of course i wasnt a dumbass and used cardboard to block falling embers/asshes from geting in my ear and causing injury. USE COMMON SENSE.

  • @epicdred That wasn't what burned my ear genius. My ear was burned on the inside from the hot air. Not the kind of hot air you just blew out your cock holster, literal HOT AIR from the BURNING CANDLE.

Oh and guess what? It's proven that ear candles DO NOT WORK. The wax left inside them is from the candle not your ear.

So who's really the dumbass? Looks like it's you. Sorry, here's your consolation prize ---> (_!_)

  • My neighbor swears by this. His wife does it for him all the time. I'm looking to try it myself.

Perhaps there are "good" candles" and "BS" candles out there. - or maybe folks aren't carefully following the instructions.

As far as the FDA, puh-leeze. They protect the Doctors & pharmaceutical companies, end of story. If organized, licensed medical people can't make a killing off of it, the FDA tries as hard as they can to ban it.

  • Put your Thumb on the end that goes in your ear and burn it down, you'll get wax out of your Thumb" NO Shit " It really works LOL LOL While your at it light a Fire cracker and stick it were the sun don't shine.I hear its a great enema.

  • Ear candling is fake. Google it, "ear candling does not work" . Read the truth yourself

Why are these people going on YouTube to show the world that they're IDIOTS?!!! lol

  • @freefatherly EL OH EL! free expression is sew dumb!

    ... fucktard

  • I bought a pack of ear candles early today to try to unplugged my ears, I heard it works. Its a buch of crap. It didnt work and I wasted money. my ears are still clogged and still cant here shit. Going to the doctor in the morning to hopefully get the problem fixed.

  • Az ember önmagának soha ne végezzen fülgyertyázást. Azonkívül a fejet, be kell takarni.

  • I found out the rationale behind the ear candle treatment...When you put the fire on the candle, it causes a type of suction drawing the wax to come up. I had this done today and my right ear was so bad and now I can hear very well in the ear. I was seriously considering getting the Miracle Ear...

  • "ball sheet " hahaah

  • Natsumi eh?

    got urself some asian wife

    somehow it seems wierd

  • Its not real, i've burned one of the cones alone and it had gunk in it without it being in my ear, its bullshit.

  • was ist das kann man das auch rauchen

  • @YearZer02022 if u been burned, then u didnt do it right simple as that. u need someone else to help u

  • does it work or not holy shit do you feel something sucking out of your ear or not SHIT HOW HARD IS IT

  • getearwax from your ear using cotton buds, then some from the candle, look closely and compare it. its either smell it or taste it, i think that's the best way to know if this ear candling is real.. have a go then let me know.

  • actually u dun have to put a cupboard to protect ur face from the fire.

  • scientifically proven not to work

  • by who?

  • Well, as for peer reviewed papers -- Seely DR, Quigley SM, and Langman AW.

As for something you could read in a couple minuets, there is a good article called "Why Ear Candling Is Not a Good Idea" By Lisa Roazen, M.D.

  • Let's start here:

    Seely, D.R., Quigley, S.M., Langman, A.W. (1996). "Ear candles: Efficacy and safety". Laryngoscope 106 (10): 12261229.

  • No. It works alright. I used a different color candle and it was DEFINITELY ear wax. AbsoLUTELY ear wax. I mean, if you could've seen. SO SO SO gross.

  • It's not that hard to get burnt wax to be a different color than the candle. All you have to do is use a dye that burns when exposed to a candle flame instead of liquefying.

The fact that you have a paper cone involved only adds more options for fun with chemistry! Changing the color is trivial. It's also kinda fun if you make your own candles.

  • Okay well. We did it again and had it tested at a local lab, seeing as my father is a surgeon and can have lab samples tested, and you're entirely wrong. It was earwax.

  • "seeing as my father is a surgeon and can have lab samples tested"

    How convenient.

And I'm supposed to take the word of a random stranger on the Internet over published research? Pull the other one.

  • I don't think it's entirely a fraud. I just tried it for the first time and saw some results. Out of my left ear came a small amount of golden ear-wax coloured substance (the "candle" itself was nowhere near this colour). Out of my right, came nothing. But I have had continual issues with wax buildup, as of late, where I have used q-tips to remove the wax and it is a noticeably dark golden colour. After candling, there was litlle residue I could see on the q-tips.

  • Check out the study: Seely, D.R., Quigley, S.M., Langman, A.W. (1996). "Ear candles: Efficacy and safety". Laryngoscope 106 (10): 12261229.

    It's ineffective.

The wax you saw was from the candle. The color change was the result of nothing more exotic than variations in the consistency of the candle.

  • OK, enough CRAP about ear candling (coning) Ear candling does NOT remove wax from ears It produces gunk, but gunk comes from the CANDLE Prove this using the SCIENTIFIC METHOD Buy an ear scope (about $20. Less than cost of ear candling session) 1 Get someone with ear wax (check with scope) 2 Candle ear 3 Check ear with scope 4 WAX IS STILL THERE 1 Get someone with NO ear wax (check with scope) 2 Candle ear 3 Candle produces gunk 4 No ear wax initially means GUNK CAME FROM CANDLE
  • the wax is from the candle not from your ear canal....burn one without even touching it to your ear....and then check the inside....

  • my sister and i did this a while back, mine had a little bit of yellow and dark on it but my sister's was like BLACK! CHERYL PLEASE CLEAN YOUR EARS! NO WONDER YOU'VE HAD LIKE 50 LIVE IN BOYFRIENDS IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS! YOU ARE SO GROSS- MOTHER IS TURNING IN HER GRAVE B/C OF YOU CHERYL! IF SHE ONLY KNEW HOW MUCH OF A PIG YOU ARE!

  • These have been proven to do nothing. Put it in something and do the same thing then open it up. You'll see the same crap that you believe came outta' your ear. These are also illegal in Canada by the way so wherever you got it in Canada is selling them illegaly.

  • Comment removed

  • Ear Candling is not only complete crap, but is harmful. Google it!

The candles are actually illegal and banned from import into the US and Canada. The FDA and Health Canada are both strongly against this practice, as it has caused numerous burns, occlusions (ears plugged up with burning candle wax), and even a perforated eardrum.

  • @ryanth

FDA is against it because it's a natural health method. People can health sinus trouble with it. Big pharma doesn't make as much money. Always follow the money. FDA doesn't care about any of us, unfortunately.

  • @GoodVibrationsHealth

Way to resurrect that old comment. Anyway, no, the FDA is against ear coning because it burns people's faces. Sadly, no conspiracy here. Next.

  • @ryanth ,

In a free society, people can make up their minds on if they want to use them or not. Everyday I hear a commercial from lawyers finding people who have used certain drugs which have caused major problems. FDA should be concerned about these drugs, and not whether someone can balance an ear candle on the head. This is an old Native American practice.

  • @ryanth are you a fucking retard! dood they are not harmfull at all and theres no wax involved besides ur earwax and they sell them at many stores so get ur facts straight, besides half of the stuff on google is bullshit so dont be posting shit unless u kno

  • @stoney364 , @LandLockedBlues13

It never ceases to amaze me how people think that name calling and excessive profanity automatically trump the current body of peer-reviewed medical research.

Look up PMID 8849790 ("Ear candles--efficacy and safety"), for example. It should be a quick read for someone with your obvious command of the English language.

  • Comment removed

  • @ryanth Actually they are widely available to buy yourself legally at stores and websites. They're not illegal.

  • @ryanth yeah If some moron take it or take some "china-made" one.... why do u think the FDA and HC are against that? cause it's popular, it works (if ppl KNOW what exactly and how to use) and it means - less money for health companies and doctors ;) ....simple ...

  • @OnnomonnomonnO What an idiotic argument. People used to think the same about Trepanning. Perhaps you should try that too.

  • @murdocha after ya, my bro

  • @OnnomonnomonnO No, no, no, after you, I insist! After all, it's not me using the fallacious logic.

  • @murdocha You Insist :DDD ......ok...fallacious logic... It's just your opinion .. I accept it ;) Everyone has own opinions;) nothing against ya

  • @murdocha

Actually, the use of trepanning for the release of evil spirits is bogus, but it is still used to relieve pressure on the brain in the case of an injury (surgically, of course!).

  • @Silverhairspeaks Typically, we would refer to the procedure as craniotomy in the case of an epidural or subdural haematoma.

  • @murdocha

I know, I'm just saying that it is still a useful procedure, just as using leeches and maggots are.

  • @Silverhairspeaks Leeches can actually serve a purpose. Maggots? Not sure, I'd have to research regarding debrading woulds etc. Ear candling, no. Not useful in that it has no actual benefit and actually factually CANNOT work as proposed.

  • @ryanth ya know...lots of people know its popularity and sell a lot of fake candles and services....so....it depends on who are you buying from...problem is, that you cannot be completely sure about anyone and anything today...

  • I call bullshit on this comment.

Why exactly would a NUTRITIONIST be doing ear candle treatments? Nutritionists work with food and diets, NOT WITH THE EARS! Audiologists work with the ears! If you're going to lie to try and prove how much something you think works actually does work, try and make up a believable excuse.

Seriously, do the research. Do the experiments on your own. Ear Candleing simply does not work. It's a FRAUD!

  • i am sure it was said al ready but I don't feel like reading the other posts, ear candeling does NOT work.

Really, you should never trust hippie products.. Do hippies look like they have clean ears?

  • that last post was for free fatherly by the way not this vid! i wanna do moulds of my whole body!

  • It's amazing that these people would post on YouTube to show the world how STUPID they are! lol These same idiots also believe that wrestling is real and not scripted or staged! lol

  • Its amazing how boring you are... then again maybe not LOL!

  • Ear candles are awesome. We obtained mucho wax tonight and I am going to burn it in candles.

I liked your video, but it gets an R rating for profanity.

  • ITS A SCAM PEOPLE!!! THE ONLY WAX YOULL FIND IS FROM THE CANDLE!! it cost 10cents to make and they cost a couple bucks. DONT BUY THIS SHIT. You have a better chance of harming your ear than helping it, think of it HOT WAX ABOVE

    YOUR EAR DRUM<<<<.......

  • oh come on! don"t be a stick in the mud. please let us believe in ear candles. there's not much to believe in these days except Barak Obama, and if he fails ear candles are all we have!

  • On YouTube, do a search for "The Ear Candle Myth". Watch that video, and it proves that this is FAKE! Don't waste your money on this SCAM!

  • Before you fall for this SCAM, just go to Google and search for "ear candle fraud scam" and you'll see for yourself why this is a SCAM. What happens is the people who sell these ear candles would post up FAKE videos to advertise for this FAKE product! Don't fall for this online SCAM!!!

  • its b*llshit! my ex built a small company on this, even she admitted it doesnt work. try holding the candle in your hand while lit! and see what happens.

  • Inner lining of the candle is coated in thin wax

That is what your getting at the end,

not ear wax. It's a big HOAX.

I asked my ear doctor today..

  • You talk like a Child, improve you vocabulary.

  • so many ear doctors have said that this is a big SCAM!!! it's so funny that people are still posting video on here, showing us how naive and STUPID they are!!! what this IDIOT is doing, is dangerous to his ear also!

  • i've tried this and thought it was so cool how it sucked the ear wax out. then i lit one and placed it in a small bottle. guess what? the same "ear wax" was in there. it's bullshit. try lighting one yourself and see the illusion debunked.

  • ! You Swear Toooo Much ! I was with my Dad! ZOMG!

  • lol ball shit

  • Get an ear candle and light it without sticking it in youre ear and let it burn down to the line (where marked on the side) and you get the same results. The ear wax left in the bottom of the candle is just residue and soot from the ear candle it self Ear Candling DOES NOT WORK and is BULLSHIT, and anyone who thinks other wise is wsting there money and a gullible dip shit.

  • I just did this. I also burned one that wasn't in my ear, same stuff in both the candles.

  • light one, put it in a paper towel tube, and observe the "vacuum" extracting "ear wax" from the cardboard. case close

  • Ear candles are not fake

I first tried them when I was 13 and at first thought it was some quack treatment. After using it, opened it up and it worked. The proof was there.

Someone else also did it and once again, it worked for them. The debris did not look the same so there goes the theory that the ear wax is actually debris from the candle.

It pulled out alot of pollen type substance from someone else's ear and hard wax from another person's ear.

  • Sorry but I've done that before. It seems to me that people who haven't even tried ear candles go online to read someones rebuttal without actually seeing it for themselves.

As a matter of fact, you copied this from someone else. People think ear candles are "weird" and therefore will naturally take sides with someone who really doesn't know what they are talking about.

  • I copied and pasted the same comment that I wrote on the video and aimed it directly at you! You dont think I tried it myself! You dont think that before I stuck and lit candle in my ear that I didnt do some research! Really, get a candle stick it in some sand and let it burn down to the marked line and tad-da! Mysteriously the sand must have an ear wax problem! I cant believe you think this works. Some people are so gullible But here I am wasting my time on one.

  • I prefer actual science.

    Seely, D.R., Quigley, S.M., Langman, A.W. (1996). "Ear candles: Efficacy and safety". Laryngoscope 106 (10): 12261229.

  • dont give a fuck if it works or not...you guys and sit here with your cuppa coffee and beat off to that. all i wanna say is that - IT FEEL FRIKING GOOD! ha

  • what is friking?

  • They are bullshit, don't work and are unsafe.

  • Prove it. Try it yourself.

Make sure you follow directions though or you might burn your face.

  • THIS IS NOT BS :P Just cuz you think it's fake, doesn't mean it is. this works, it's perfectly safe, and it doesn't take any major science like some of you are suggesting to work.

  • Thats ok that you dont beleive what someone else says...but test this for yourself. Burn one in a glass jar ( somewhere you can see it is not "vaccummung" something up....yu will see that it has the same amount and type ot residue, than if it'd been in your ear. This is candle residue. Big PRob is wax dripping onto your eardrum. Perforations and surgery to follow.

  • Idiot...

  • until you have earwax all over your eardrums, where's your god then

  • they totally work!!! if u chew gum while ur doin it, it helps to loosen it all up and u can get more out!! lol :P

  • I hope you don't pull anything out of your ear with that method! Only because it would require enough air pressure to break your ear drum. I see others have let you know already. Good. This nonsense emboldened my Atheism.

  • haha i couldnt agree more

  • For a vacuum, you'd need an *airtight* seal.

Liquids (and melted wax) flow with gravity. Enough vacuum to "pull" wax out would rupture the eardrum. With or without heat.

  • These always help me when my ear is wacky.

  • WOW. That one hella a big candle. Me thinks this guy is BS.

Just done my sisters ears and she was secptical. Soon changed her mind. She loves it

But the candle wasnt that big.

  • my mom died from candling! She was candling late one night in Alaska, and suddenly the "candle"(I prefer to call it a death stick) fell and lit her bed aflame, which quickly spread to other combustibles. Alaska Fire Marshall Gary L. Powell rescued her from the raging inferno, and she died later of an asthma attack.

  • So let that be a lesson to ya laddy. oh yea, plus the pressure it would take to clear stinky ear wax from your canal would surpass the pressure it would take to rupture your eardrum. Your living in a fantasy world.

  • someone has to hold the candle while using it. You are not supposed to do it on your own

  • She's smart to call bs on this one. Very cute too.

  • its not ur ear wax its the candle's, burn one by itself and it'll still have wax inside even when it was'nt in ur ear

  • God, I miss having my ears candled. My aunt (who is kind of a hippy) got me into it. Seriously, though. I always feel so much better afterward.

    I believe in it >_>!
