The lightning and Joe Musashi standing in the dark opposing to your side with his massive sword sure made him look like a evil character.

Remains one of the most effective VG intros of all time. Few words have the impact necessary to describe how truly awesome this intro, and the entire game are.
@zecle yeah, it was the limit of the system. so the cycle works like this graphical limitations > development stages > customer expectations > exceeded customer expectations. invested customer suffer while waiting for next step. the larger and more impressive the next step, the more impressed customer is. ;-) and so on. until games become real life in 2117.
Shinobi 2 and 3 had a great storyline and great consept in it also.shinobi 2 feels like an early 90's ninja movie like an american ninja thing.shinobi 3 is more scifi it has machine monsters in it but it's great as well both games are.I wish they make a sequel base on part 2&3.

Yeah, I remember the first time I saw this back in the day at my friends house. Watching the jump from 8 bit to 16 bit era was exciting.
