Nope. It's a Musica CC 5-valve made by Conn. This video is was taped BEFORE I became a Miraphone Artist...circa 2000. AND! Miraphone most certainly makes rotary EEb tubas. Check out the Miraphone Norwegian Star. Wonderful tuba designed for Oystein Baadsvick!
How is the sax dumb; it's a valuable contribution to the woodwind family. Personally I tend to find the saxophone to be too abrasive in sound near and particularly below the baritone, while the baritone and higher pitched sax sound great, even the soprano sax when played by people like Coltrane and not Kenny G. I prefer the bass clarinet or equivalent contrabass flutes. Although every instrument has it's use, who puts a comment like your's up
What I mean is I'm not a big fan of the tenor or soprano, I meant to say alto, not bari. Sorry. And I do play the bass clarinet, and am learning to play brass for marching band so I can know how to play brass and woodwind. I do know every instrument is important, but people who play sax tend to get a big head thinking theyre the only part that matters.
its not rare for a tuba to hit really high notes. to do them like him thats something else. but ive developed an almost 4 octave range ovr 3 yrs of playing
don't worry, in high school, join jazz band. trombones have ALL the awesome solis. that is, assuming your in school. btw, tubas have MUCH more boring parts in a regular ensemble band than trombones.
Imagine the world's best juggler best friends with the world's best sword balancer, you know point to point, then that is how I see you and Steven Mead respectively, especially Mead as on Carrickfergus. But why shouldn't the tuba as well as the euphonium have the best tone, playing beautiful music like that? How about it? tubatenrsax
I saw you at the Dca World chapionships Friday and Saturday. You are amazing your solos were great! I play contra in the Steel City Ambassadors. We were there for the ensembles.
i wouls suggest doing some deep breathing excersizes just by yourself. one really good one is when u stand up and just relax your chest and put your hands up as if u were to hold a bow and arrow. when u "draw" back take the biggest breath possible and when u let go exhale as fast as possible.
Joe Murphy is a beast. He makes the world's best mouthpieces too. I'm from Belmont University in Nashville, TN and almost the entire trombone studio uses LOUD mouthpieces.
Wow! Wish could see it live. As for your info I'm living in the Philippines and march baritone at our drum corps here. You can search it here if you want. Though it's not that good, coz no professionally trained musician/DCI or DCA vet taught as what we know now. Anyways, I hope barry blackwell is still marching baritone this year. Kindly tell him the Spirit of San Nicolas is somewhat still doing good. Again, thanks and kudos to you and your solos. You amaze me and goodluck to MCL this year!
Did you march drum corps? Although I saw that you have drum corps stuff on your videos, are you the contra player on the Music City Legend 2007 screamers video? Your timbre is somewhat similar to that guy which by the way also did some pretty hot screamin' just as you did with your rockin' mirafone! You're so awesome!
Good call! I am the contra soloist, arranger and Program Director for Music City Legend!! I've got some more crazy solos for this years' show. Keep an eye out!
Hah thats awesome.

Out of curiosity, is that an Eb tuba/miraphone, or is it BBb?
furthermore, can you count it as a tuba solo if you play in trombone range the whole time. =P
Amazing solo. That tuba is the perfect instrument for jazz, it's very soft in it's sound. Not as harsh as the yamaha tuba I have at school. =P
also, what range would you say you're playing in in this video?
Thanks,
a fellow tuba player. =)
