Man Utd fans have real class giving him a standing ovation,I love watching this, beautiful football from the best player ever.Other teams and fans are so petty towards great player.Ronaldo, the best.
This Madrid team so called LOS GALACTICOS didn't win as many trophies as they should have because of this HORRIBLE defence. Look at Helguera own goal and the last united goal..Defence incredbly failed.
just listen to the commentator before the second goal. Zidane, roberto carlos, RONALDO! three of the worlds best players ever in their positions, im a united supporter but you just can't beat that.
Totally agree. Roberto Carlos is still unsurpassed as a right back especially in attack. Evra and Cole might be the best in The Prem but neither can hold a candle to Carlos, not even on the same planet. Some of Roberto's goals are truely amazing. Zidane is easily the best playmaker in the last 25 years and Ronaldo is the greatest forward I've ever seen. Henry comes a close 2nd but R9 was magical to watch. Even before he retired at 34 he was dazzling at Corinthians.
@orangeandapplefull Ronaldhino also got a standing ovation at Bernabéu once. And to get a RM fan to stand up and applaud a Barça player was one hell of sight.
I want to go back in time and watch football where you can't take your eyes of the tv set for one minute! where every second is like the last second of the game! where you see tackles as hard as bricks, where you see finishes that makes you love the game! where you see short keepers like barthez flying! where 90th minute the game is won 4-3 or 3-2 or 5-4 for a free kick from the likes of becks, figo, etc. I want to go back in time!
Don't be silly now. Batistuta was the better striker, no doubt about that. He had everything in his repertoire to make a deadly striker but what Ronaldo did bring to the table instantly made him the best in the business and easily the better player.
It's funny, in the first leg the Madrid fans didn't seem too taken aback by Ronaldo's performance, then here he gets a standing ovation when he got substituted. This was such a brilliant display, and a great show of respect by United's supporters.

Man Utd lost but i wasnt angry because nowadays you will never get a match like this anymore...2 great powers collided, 1 made it out.. Man Utd put a great fight against Madrid and that time Madrid were really scary with the likes of ronaldo, figo, raul, zidane. ( don get me wrong, Madrid is powerful but at that time they were beast )
Newer generation will never know what im talking about...they prefer Cronaldo, messi, rooney...but as for me im talking about true legends in the 90s- 2003
@KingDaimond- I know what you mean, im 17 as of 2011 and this was the type of football that i grew to love, nowadays watching c.ronaldo roll around on the floor like a pussy make the game seem so ugly. you just have to watch this video to see true class. he was one of theee best i think we will ever see. cronaldo imo doesnt even come close to comparing to this guy. astonishing...
@KingDaimond i agree with you... kinds\ youth today will nver know gret legends like the players you mentioned.. i am born in 86, so i have seen many start throughout the yeras.

but one thing is for sure. pro footballers from the 90s were stronger then the players today.. they were also in btter shape..
the only thing that is now is that the tecnicue has improved :p
@gaffelnskje i was thinking an opposite way. the game becomes more physical, the 2000s are becoming stronger physically than any other eras, and that physicality overshadow the beauty and technique of the game.
but hey if u follow the WOMEN WC recently, where physically is inferior to the technique, than It is a BEAUTIFUL game
those were d days....................great to see manutd fans giving standing applause......now days no matches like this...........rooney,cr7.messi.........are nothing compared to beckham,zidane,ronaldo,ronaldinho,figo...............
Ronaldo is far superior than Cristiano, Ronaldo had speed, strength and guts all Cristiano has is speed, a bad attitude, and the tendency to overreact over the slightest things, CL match AC Milan v Real Madrid proves this, aswell as every match he plays in.
@positiveblackman1 Long periods of his career? The players you mentioned only played with him in Real Madrid except for Carlos which he played with last year, Real Madrid was a small bit in his career just because he was part of the Galacticos doesnt mean he did his best there see his stats for when he was in PSV, Cruzeiro, Barca, Inter, Milan, hell even Corinthians all impressive by league standards.
i'm going to be honest i never thought i would say this but ronaldo is better than cristiano...he's got a better goal scoring record than both cristiano and messi....as a united fan i will have to say he's not far better than cristiano but he is better...and also i would just like to highlight that brazilian ronaldo played with far better players for long periods of his career...like figo, zidane, carlos, figo, rivaldo so yeah it would be interesting to see how cristiano would have done
@positiveblackman1 .you obv dont know shit about football. ronaldo afterhis injury was fraction of the player in 1999.c ronaldo doesnt even comapre to baggio, berkamp, henry, etc never mind ronaldo before his big injury in 1999.
Why you calling me idiot? First of all, Ronaldo is a phenomenon, no doubt of it, but he is lying, dude, do a research, find if the medication that he have to take is controlled and then talk to me, every medic interviewed in Brazil say the contrary, that its not in the controlled substance list. Second, every that Brazil football is today, most of it is because of Pelé, 3 world cups, turn the number 10 to a mystical number, the number of the crack of the team, he was and will be the best
was really looking forward to watching this vid but all it shows are reals/ronaldos best moments this was an awesome game with both sides playing some brilliant football u shud rename it montage to ronaldo thumbs down
I am also a Manchester United fan, and very few things make me more proud to say that than the fact the whole stadium stood up and applauded this player when he was taken off. That is how it should be, and my view is that that what makes really great teams great - they acknowledge and appreciate quality even in opponents. There is a respect. I have been to a few Arsenal and Chelsea games, with their supporters, and the difference is marked. Guaranteed they would be hateful, sadly.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@lipslicker1971 hang on 1 minute.. how can you slag off arsenal/chelsea fans? there from the same city as nearly all united fans.. pot calling kettle black i think..
@gmc5times1 I do not know how you come to the pot and kettle thing, being that I was born in Burnley, went to school in Blackburn, lived near Clitheroe and my dad's business was in Manchester?!
The fact I am working down here at the moment does not make me a Londoner. And passing the comment that their support is largely hateful and disrespectful, whereas northern clubs show more humor and respect is hardly controversial. Have you ever stood in the Shed end at Chelsea? No laughing matter!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@lipslicker1971 the facts are that 75% of old trafford. are people who are not mancs.. i dont know how anybody goes there. it must fuckin stink its full of pakis. the only mancs that go the match are the away games..
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@lipslicker1971 no i just tell it how it is.. if you support man united 8 times out of 10 your not a manc.. thats a fact.i love it when they say i only support them because when i was young my dad worked there. or some other shit. the truth is i support them because they were the best when i was growing up.thats why we have loads of 30/40 years old fans from all around the world because we were the best in the 70s and 80s.. dont worry your kids will be city fans.. united are finished CMON CITY!!
@gmc5times1 How is being disrespectful and coming to the wrong conclusions 'telling it how it is'?!
The fact is, you rather made my point for me, that most supporters are hateful, disrespectful and humorless. And you did a mighty good job of it too, cheers!
FYI I am white and 40 too, and you are only supporting City because you think you can buy the Cups. Living in London now I have been surrounded by Chelsea fans with that attitude, and it is funny to see them now pretending they do not care!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@lipslicker1971 WTF are you talking about?? im a liverpool fan from LIVERPOOL!! nothing false about me i support my home town club. unlike you.even fuckin mancs hate the likes of you. robbing there tickets. the poor bastards carnt even go and watch there own team. because of all you glory hunting bastards.. pathetic.
@gmc5times1 When Tevez leaves for Barca or Real, and the club is beset by infighting, we will see you skulk through our turnstiles wearing Green & Yellow, pretending you have always been Utd..
@gmc5times1 "no i just tell it how it is.. if you support man united 8 times out of 10 your not a manc.. thats a fact.i love it when they say i only support them because when i was young my dad worked there. or some other shit. the truth is i support them because they were the best when i was growing up.thats why we have loads of 30/40 years old fans from all around the world because we were the best in the 70s and 80s.. dont worry your kids will be city fans.. united are finished CMON CITY!!"

@joesakic91 there was no need to put his whole name in was there?? stop shownig off your impressing nobody.. and you say your a united fan. were about in london are you from then?
@gmc5times1 what is truly fucking sad u is u deciding to have a go at someone for posting a positive comment then taking ur time out to check their profile and see where they are from so u can have another dig, truly a sad bellend gtfo the internet
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@cloudinstrife no what is really really sad. is a fat american talking about football.. and then whats even worse .is the way you wrote his full name in the hope that people would think you knew what you were talking about. .. stick to baseball fat arse.. leave the football chat to us.
@gmc5times1 are ur a retard by birth or do u practice u gob shite. first of all it wasnt me who wrote about ronaldo i just pointed out ur a sad cunt trolling people secondly i aint american im from england and thirdly ur such a prick everyone had blocked ur posts. jog the fuck on
As a Brazilian i must say, there is no other player so mystical as Pelé, we Brazilians don't compare Pele with others, it's a blasphemy, cos Pele is God. All of you are too young to see him in action, and other, he didn't play at europe like maradona, Romario, Rivaldo. So there is interesting fact about him. In one game, Pele for some reason got out by a red card, the crowd of 2 teams got insane and booed the referee, so he must had to put him back to the pitch because the crowd was so angry!
@mirandarf82 like Braziian football . Ronaldo was greatest of our times . Romario and Rivaldo alsa were great players .
Ronaldhino has incredible talent one of greatest but loss his carrer and chance . There were so manny great braziians in past but pele? I know that he is legend in brazill but only hmm ... he is only legend nothing more .
Nowbody know how he play ? How can i belivee that he was so great?
Becouse your granfather see him;) Granfathers says alot of not ture storys;)
@rudziu102 your point is right, and all these players that you said are so f* greats, Ronaldo is a phenomeno! And Ronaldinho will be great again in my Flamengo! But believe me, in Brazil, Pel is best. He wins 3 world cups, he scores more than 1000 goals. Another fact: when he is about to score the 1000 goal, a defender of Bahia (playing in Bahia home) team kicks out the ball near the goal line when the ball was about to in the net! What happened? All the crowd, even the Bahia team fans got crazy
@mirandarf82 Pele is also a pitiful as a person . He hate every another great players becosue he is scered that they are bettter then him . He hate Ronaldo he hate Maradona . He is fifa ass licker of corrupt fifa .
Ronaldo was 10000 times better as a person and as a footballer .
@rudziu102 I must say that you right again, but Ronaldo ins't a saint, even less Maradona, tha fucking cocaine sniffer (also one of the greatest players!) Did you know that Ronaldo was caught in Rio de Janeiro with 2 drags in a motel?? pele just said that Ronaldo got fatter! (A very true fact)!
@mirandarf82 .ronaldo suffers from a metabloism problem you idiot.he cant take the medication because its on the banned substance list. who gives a fuck what pele says?he palyed in an era when farmers played part time football.
Am proud to say I was one of the people clapping him off after the hat trick and a response like that brings a lump to your throat. Beautiful footballer.
The great players will never be forgotten. I'm a 17 year old Manchester United fan and I've seen my share of the greats; Giggs, Scholes, Rooney, Ronaldo. The likes of Messi, Kaka, Ronaldinho.. countless names. But Ronaldo was the greatest striker of all time. Legends.
Del Bosque - Ferguson, Real Madrid - Manchester, Prime Beckham, Roberto Carlos, Figo, Zidane, Ronaldo... it is like an ancient, Homer's epic of greek gods battle.
well, the only goal I'm saying this about in the first one, Ronaldo's strike is brilliant, but Barthez should not have let space between himself and the closest post, I think...
and don't get me wrong, I don't think Barthez was absolute shit (although he had a hard time in Man U!)
There is something so much more majestic about Legendary players like him and Zidane... they seemed to be a lot less enamoured with off the pitch antics and more enamoured with playing football. It seems a lot less selfless too and a lot more effortless - Ronaldo just scored, and his effortless attitude makes it look so much more impressive than the modern Ronaldo. Even Messi with all his magic makes things at times look hard.
@Hama8382 First and second goal barthez could do nothing about, player was through on goal. If you had to blame someone it would have to be the defenders. Barthez stopping the last shot would have been a spectacular save.
@christbone: do you really think that european football was exactly like today's 40 years ago . on those times, it was rare for any SA player going to europe. on pele's times, south american teams won almost all the south american-european cups. do some research and you would realize it . The Brasil's national team which won 3 W. Cups since 1958 to '70 was entirely made up of brazilian league players. And on the three finals they beat up european teams. I'll continue in another....
that time football was a joy to watch.I think players used to commit themselves more at teamwork and giving hundred percent than whinning and moaning. It was all rythmic.
Why do i get the feeling that there's never going to be a striker of the quality of Ronaldo again. Nowdays the players who dominate are players like Messi and C.Ronaldo. I love watching Messi but i miss watching someone like Ronaldo(BRA)
@cardiffyouth .the first was sloppy goalkeeping but you see it all the time like rooney vs ac milan in 2007 and the 3rd one was hit with pure technique and power so barthez had no chance.
@786Gforce Real Madrid did. They won 3-1 in Madrid and lost 4-3 in Manchester, winning the quarter-final 6-5 on aggregate. Scoreline was close but in reality, it was never that close, United was never in it..... Real eventually lost the semi-final to Juventus, who lost the 2003 CL final on penalties against AC Milan.
Falsta:yes, but any player would look like an amputee when playing with a 3 pounds ball and cleats made up of leather with iron studs and football fields with more bundles than a school field. Yes, that was what pele had in the 60's and 70's. Bring Pele to modern days, let him train for a few months with modern equipment and know his teammates and he would make ronaldo to look like an amputee. I dont deny that Ronaldo's one of the best strikers that ever lived, but he's just not the best.
@MrAlepedroza i can only laugh at your obsession with pele....he played against farmers and stable boys in brazil. i could score 1000 goals in brazil playing against fools like that.
he never played in europe so how on earth can he be the greatest? maradonna was a far more naturally talented player than pele. ronaldo was just a different class in his young days. i rate zidane and rivaldo more like pele.
@christbone - you obviously don't realize that back at that time the South American leagues were just as tough as the European ones... in fact - when they would play against each other.... the South American clubs would often win. WItness what the Pele - Santos teams beating the European Champions... It's no suprise that Uruguay - Brazil and Argentina had the best national side back then as well... their players all played "at home".... so you are incorrect.
@christbone: YOU JUST CAN'T COMPARE TODAY'S BRAZILIAN LEAGUE WITH PELE'S TIMES BRAZILIAN LEAGUE. PLZ, NEXT TIME YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT SOMENTHING YOU DON'T KNOW AT ALL, DO SOME RESEARCH IN ORDER YOU DON'T GET OWNED AND INSULTED BECAUSE OF YOUR IGNORANCE. Bye buddy, good luck.
@MrAlepedroza Ronaldo > Pele, end of discussion. So what the pitch was poor and the ball was harder and heavier. You can't say give a player a few months and he'll adapt to a different era with different equipment. Look at how many players complained with "improvements" with the world cup ball over the years. I wouldnt expect Ronaldo to go back in the 70's and be as prolific and I would not expect the same of pele.
@MrAlepedroza - EXACTLY - the players nowadays have all type of specialized training that the old time players didn't have and they still created "magic". As you said the fields were also poor...the balls were harder to "steer" and the boots would slow down any modern player... Not to mention the tackles were much more violent!! That said - I think if THE PHENOMENON didn't blow out his knees he had a chance to possible top Pele (and Eusebio)
ronaldo distroyed manUTD sir alex was looking very baffled

This was the best CL match of that year! Thank you Ronaldo for showing us great football...
zuppayannick 11 months ago
Ronaldo is far superior than Cristiano, Ronaldo had speed, strength and guts all Cristiano has is speed, a bad attitude, and the tendency to overreact over the slightest things, CL match AC Milan v Real Madrid proves this, aswell as every match he plays in.
yazid3848 11 months ago
@positiveblackman1 Long periods of his career? The players you mentioned only played with him in Real Madrid except for Carlos which he played with last year, Real Madrid was a small bit in his career just because he was part of the Galacticos doesnt mean he did his best there see his stats for when he was in PSV, Cruzeiro, Barca, Inter, Milan, hell even Corinthians all impressive by league standards.
yazid3848 11 months ago
i'm going to be honest i never thought i would say this but ronaldo is better than cristiano...he's got a better goal scoring record than both cristiano and messi....as a united fan i will have to say he's not far better than cristiano but he is better...and also i would just like to highlight that brazilian ronaldo played with far better players for long periods of his career...like figo, zidane, carlos, figo, rivaldo so yeah it would be interesting to see how cristiano would have done

FYI I am white and 40 too, and you are only supporting City because you think you can buy the Cups. Living in London now I have been surrounded by Chelsea fans with that attitude, and it is funny to see them now pretending they do not care!!

In one game, Pele for some reason got out by a red card, the crowd of 2 teams got insane and booed the referee, so he must had to put him back to the pitch because the crowd was so angry!
mirandarf82 11 months ago
@mirandarf82 like Braziian football . Ronaldo was greatest of our times . Romario and Rivaldo alsa were great players .
Ronaldhino has incredible talent one of greatest but loss his carrer and chance . There were so manny great braziians in past but pele? I know that he is legend in brazill but only hmm ... he is only legend nothing more .

rudziu102 11 months ago
@rudziu102 your point is right, and all these players that you said are so f* greats, Ronaldo is a phenomeno! And Ronaldinho will be great again in my Flamengo! But believe me, in Brazil, Pel is best. He wins 3 world cups, he scores more than 1000 goals. Another fact: when he is about to score the 1000 goal, a defender of Bahia (playing in Bahia home) team kicks out the ball near the goal line when the ball was about to in the net! What happened? All the crowd, even the Bahia team fans got crazy
mirandarf82 11 months ago

(A very true fact)!

well, the only goal I'm saying this about in the first one, Ronaldo's strike is brilliant, but Barthez should not have let space between himself and the closest post, I think...

MrAlepedroza 1 year ago
@MrAlepedroza i can only laugh at your obsession with pele....he played against farmers and stable boys in brazil. i could score 1000 goals in brazil playing against fools like that.
he never played in europe so how on earth can he be the greatest? maradonna was a far more naturally talented player than pele. ronaldo was just a different class in his young days. i rate zidane and rivaldo more like pele.
christbone 1 year ago
@christbone Yes, and he won 3 World cups against european farmers and stable boys...
Just SHUT UP!
LuizfvLima 1 year ago
@christbone - you obviously don't realize that back at that time the South American leagues were just as tough as the European ones... in fact - when they would play against each other.... the South American clubs would often win. WItness what the Pele - Santos teams beating the European Champions... It's no suprise that Uruguay - Brazil and Argentina had the best national side back then as well... their players all played "at home".... so you are incorrect.
Amidat 1 year ago
@christbone: YOU JUST CAN'T COMPARE TODAY'S BRAZILIAN LEAGUE WITH PELE'S TIMES BRAZILIAN LEAGUE. PLZ, NEXT TIME YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT SOMENTHING YOU DON'T KNOW AT ALL, DO SOME RESEARCH IN ORDER YOU DON'T GET OWNED AND INSULTED BECAUSE OF YOUR IGNORANCE. Bye buddy, good luck.
MrAlepedroza 11 months ago
@MrAlepedroza Ronaldo > Pele, end of discussion. So what the pitch was poor and the ball was harder and heavier. You can't say give a player a few months and he'll adapt to a different era with different equipment. Look at how many players complained with "improvements" with the world cup ball over the years. I wouldnt expect Ronaldo to go back in the 70's and be as prolific and I would not expect the same of pele.
novatrek 11 months ago
@MrAlepedroza - EXACTLY - the players nowadays have all type of specialized training that the old time players didn't have and they still created "magic". As you said the fields were also poor...the balls were harder to "steer" and the boots would slow down any modern player... Not to mention the tackles were much more violent!! That said - I think if THE PHENOMENON didn't blow out his knees he had a chance to possible top Pele (and Eusebio)
