  • This practice of diluting a matter is nonacceptable in the matters of national and state governments, courts and constitution and certainly not in the red hot church and state dialog, but it remains a common practice in matters of faith.

  • This inability to distinguish between what corresponded to Israel and what corresponds to the church leads to a diluting of faith and matters of faith. Furthermore, the effect of this dilution is then embraced by others as openness and tolerance, or understanding.

  • Would it be Dobson's or Sharpton's, Leviticus or the Sermon on the Mount? This last comparison reveals the common misunderstanding of scripture as to what corresponded to Israel under the law of Moses and what corresponds to the church as the body of Christ. The answer to the question is commonly answered by the same ones who ask it: *We're an atheist/Christian/Hindu/Jewish/Muslim nation* *We all believe in the same God*.

  • Mr Obama is to be commended for his articulation on the subject of faith. No need to question his sincerity. However, he does give cause to wonder as to the measure of his understanding of that faith. Mr Obama wonders whose christianity version (video 6) one would follow were all non-christians removed from America.

  • I think Obama is very reasonable about his faith in public. That is a very good position what he sais. I wish we would have such a president here in Germany. We arn`t even allowed to use the word Jesus or God in public. Me as a christian think that you complain because of arrogance. Be glad that you have a believer as president. That would be unthinkable here in Germany. Such a person would be dismissed. And be glad that you live in a secular country and nobody forces you to share his opinion.

  • I think he is very reasonable not forcing other people to do anything. That is so stupid to try to force people to have a child they don`t want (do you have any idea about how painful labor is?). Nobody who is forced to anything will be a good mother. Obama is very smart. He knows how to deal with all these problems. There isn`t even one scripture in the Bible concerning abortion. Let everyone make their own choice. Faith is not only about abortion. Not only about gays.

  • These are so random topics. The main message is the salvation through Christ. There is no condemnation for God`s children and everyone can listen to God for himself.

All in all most of you christians in America you have completely lost the sense of proportionality. Everything you do is worthless unless you do it out of love (2.kor.). You can do everything right, still you go to hell, don`t you understand. Abortion is random but you make it such a great political issue.

  • Don`t you have any mercy with the young mother or the child (don`t be so stupid and believe that it would have loving parents).

Everyone here in Europe mocks you.

  • Obama is a good man. It's rare to see a believer who is clearly commited to a secular society. If all people of faith throughout the world would be like him, we wouldn't have any problems with religion. It would be a private thing and no suicide bombers would try to impose their belief and hatred on others. Period.

  • i believe that the only hate there is right now is religion. people should let other people believe on whatever they wish to with out comments. America is supposed to be a freedom of religion. The countries history is based on freedom of religion. but yet there is people like this man accused on his believe? why??? so many countries in the world have the same problem.. But America is country of all religions and we should stand by it. GOD BLESS USA. and its people no meter what religion U R.

  • does anyone know when/what station this aired on?

  • fake christian not fooled!!!

It you say your christian then be christian not trying to appeal to everyone!

But I guess if I had a chance to be president I would try to say all the right things for that kind of power!

  • zmart4ever how can you say that?.. there is nothing greater than God.. God created the earth, the stars, the oceans, the land you are standing on right now and you believe that there are greater problems to worry about than God.Sorry but I just find that hard to believe. And as for Obama's faith no one knows if he truly believes in God, except for himself and God.So we can argue all we want but the fact of the matter is we will never find out if he has truly accepted Jesus as savior of his life...

  • He created all that? really? wow! Wheres the label?

    Also why does it matter?

If he "accepts" God and Jesus

    Or Zeus and Hercules

    or Allah and Mohammad

will it matter on his ability to be president?

  • Building a religion?

"So, I have a deep faith," Obama continues. "I'm rooted in the Christian tradition. I believe that there are many paths to the same place, and that is a belief that there is a higher power, a belief that we are connected as a people."

Sounds like a nice all inclusionary type faith ya have there Barack

  • Religion is a personal thing. I am definetly for seperation of church and state. I could care less what Obama believes in. If he's the right Man for the oval office, that's what i care about.

Look at george Bush...fundamentalist, and where has it gotten us? it's a joke.

I am sorry but we have bigger problems right now than what God to pray to.

  • There are no bigger problems than what God to pray to.

  • amen.

  • so disgusting. Obama sickens me.

  • DOCCAREY is the worst motherfucker in the US..What do u mean by" Obama is a monkey? who are u bitch?. You ain't even a right jews, cause those people are smart and weise and i respect them. But u are the worst lousy pig in this world . The world would have been glad ,if you would have existed in 1945 in Germany

  • You're worthless.

  • I'm from indonesia, the country where obama spent 4 years of his childhood and it is a predominantly a muslim country. By voting obama for president, a muslim country will view obama as an agent for change and a new America willing to make progress building and connecting bridges between our nations.

    OBAMA 08, For the better!

  • Here's more: "The right of holding slaves is clearly established in the Holy Scriptures, both by precept and example." Rev. R. Furman, D.D., Baptist, of South Carolina "The hope of civilization itself hangs on the defeat of Negro suffrage." A statement by a prominent 19th-century southern Presbyterian pastor, cited by Rev. Jack Rogers, moderator of the Presbyterian Church (USA).

  • It's the people of faith who instituted the practice of slavery in the first place: "[Slavery] was established by decree of Almighty God...it is sanctioned in the Bible, in both Testaments, from Genesis to Revelation...it has existed in all ages, has been found among the people of the highest civilization, and in nations of the highest proficiency in the arts." Jefferson Davis, President of the Confederate States of America.

  • Ohh 3 quotes! About an unrelated topic: slavery! Well done!

I'm glad to see that you've quoted three examples of confused people who claim to be people of faith, but are rather people who twist God-established truths to support their own faulty beliefs. Just because slavery exists in the Bible does not mean the Bible supports slavery. The first reference to slavery in the Bible is to godless, sinful slaveowners, not followers of God. You're twisting facts just like the people you quote!

  • Rocky check these passages out: Leviticus 25:44-46, Exodus 21:2-6 (mentions God directly), Exodus 21:7-11, Exodus 21:20-21, Ephesians 6:5 (Jesus condoning slavery), 1 Timothy 6:1-2 (Jesus condoning slavery again), Luke 12:47-48 (and again here). Now the next question is: how can Jesus twist "God-established truths" if he is God in the flesh? The sad part about it is, those passages are meant to be taken literally..They are direct laws and rules, with no room for interpretation.

  • Jesus doesn't condone slavery. Ephesians was written by Paul, and Paul doesn't condone slavery.

  • You know, England used to have slaves. Why don't they have the same problems we (USA) do with race? A black guy and a white guy can hang out at a Pub in England like nothing ever happened.

Time to get over it and move on, folks.
