  • You guys win for using Beethoven.

  • Really cool. They did the same thing during the Fall 2006 McQueen fashion show, with Kate Moss as the ghost.

  • So, the viewer is behind the glass, but in front of the object...right?

  • Awesome. I read about this years ago and i think De Efteling uses it in their haunted mansion.

  • Awesome!!! Thanks for explaining this!

    *bows*

  • Great idea but please make a new version where the camera isn't so jerky that no-one can see what's going on.

  • Pepper's ghost as the cat is WAY better, the best!!!

  • this is not peppers ghost its a hologram, there's a difference

  • sorry my mistake, it is, sorry didnt watch the whole vid

  • @Mikezonecartoons actually it is a peppers ghost illusion. just a variation without the use of a projector

  • Please try not to move the camera so much the next time you make a movie, I nearly got sea sick watching this! :-( Great effect by the way.

  • Good boy!! good job

  • Awesome, I will give this a go. So you just place the object in front of black material, a sheet of glass around in front of it, and a light shining on it?

  • yup, that's exactly it

  • Awsome Im a huge Disney fan. The use the effect in the haunted manchon. I found out the name and pulled it up on you tube.

    Can pexie glass work

  • Yes Plexiglass works just as well. just remember to angle and experiment!!!

  • Yes, it is. That attraction is what sparked my interest in the effect.

  • oh nvm i got it:D thanks for the vid

  • i tried and it didn't work:[

where does the image like "show up"? just on a wall or something.?

  • the Gorillaz did this for some of their concerts.

except the characters (2-D,Russel,Murdoc,Noodle) were solid and not transparent

  • thats called a big screen.

  • good job

  • WOW so pro!!!!!!! I just want to ask, do you put like a complete black background behind the real thing or the ghost and is the ghost reflected through the glass?

  • Yes, you put the complete black background behind the actual object. I will be making a much better version, this 1 was from when i was 10.

  • They use these in the haunted mansion.

  • very nice

  • That's pretty cool! I've seen the effect before, but it's cool to see the other side of it. Good explanation of how to make this happen on the cheap.

  • cool i can do this trying the haunted mansion ballroom dancers or something

  • wicked im going to go try it out

  • cool

  • Thank you SOOO much!

  • I'm going to try this one with this cool light that looks 3-d but isn't, it might look like some spooky portal! I'll let you know if it works.

  • You guys did a great job demonstrating Pepper's Ghost!

  • why thank you

  • no i didn't name it. it was named over 75 years ago by a parlor magician. bucket head actually took the name. (still a good song :)

  • nope, it was invented by an engineer called Henry Dircks he then tried to sell the illusion to theaters but couldn't and eventually John Pepper, who was the director at the royal polytechnic, saw it and used it there to encourage more visitors etc.

  • in the efteling, spookslot they also have peppers ghost

  • i love peppers ghost. That's my favorite part of the haunted mansion :D

  • When I first read about it on wikipedia I didn't know you can only see it through the glass.

  • they do this in the haunted mansion, its really cool, thanks

  • very good demonstration. the black background made the beethoven figure really sharp !

  • could you try taking another crack at this video? i mean like a step by step set up kinda thing. thanks
