It's not GPU monitoring..."There is an option to break the CPU usage graph into two sections:kernel mode time and user mode time. Many device drivers, and core parts of the operating system run in kernel mode, whereas user applications run in user mode. This option can be turned on by choosing Show kernel times from the View menu.CPU usage graph will show a green and a red area. The red area is the amount of time spent in kernel mode, and the green area shows the amount of time spent in user mode."
Nice Video. The ION platform is pretty beast like since it only takes up power in the single digits of watts and can output 1080p. They managed to fit in a processor with a graphics chip almost as powerful as my PC's (Geforce 9600gt) into a size smaller than half my video cards'. I think nVidia is about to phase out the Geforce 9400's in favor of their new gt210/220 when they get along with Intel again. That is until both companies start producing systems complete w/ their own CPUs & GPUs soon.
@T2DMrBungle But first high end Intel intel graphic! Hope intel are not getting us to pay for beta versions of Larrabee which the did in their integrated graphic!
Most likely, the 330 is practically quad core since it's dual + hyper threading, pretty sweet! also the ION's out right now are about as powerful as a 9400 GPU.
Probably not. because as you can see in the video, the guy enables the hardware acceleration in the powerdvd software. So, I doubt it. But, powerdvd might disable any hardware acceleration by default. I'll let u know when I buy one of these babies.
I'm not sure if i got this right, but I believe that Windows media center uses Windows Media Player to show the video. With the rights codecs, like ffdshow or coreAVC added to Media Player, you can enable the GPU acceleration within that codec.
Try to google it, there are plenty of long tutorials that go deep into this things.
To encode... Now you ask why would you want to encode? Because discs have different file formats than on your computer and other devices so if you want to watch a movie on your iPod, Zune, PSP and etc. you have to encode it.

are the new ION nettops going to come with a Nvidia GT201/220? as kittnkillr mentioned? any already on the market with a CPU/GPU on 1 chip?

I meant GT210/220
Cobalt961 2 years ago
much more likely that Intel will just release a better graphics chipset and push Nvidia out altogether like they did with i7 and i5.
ION is awesome, but it only exists because Intel screwed up and didn't make a proper chipset for Atom.
T2DMrBungle 2 years ago
@T2DMrBungle Like Core i5 GMA HD mobile still performances crapper in 3Dmark than a Netbook with atom cpu and ION!

can the ion 330 nettops now playback flash on the GPU in full 1080p? If so would it work on the asrock ion 330 under linux?
