Wow. Ever since I saw Back to the Future, I've had a huge crush on Michael J. Fox. I almost forgot how cute he was back then (plus, he's a great actor!).
Yeah, when Kenneth threw that baseball through the window, i saw that coming! LOL I said to myself, he's gonna practice alright, like, he's gonna toss it through the window and break it & sure enough, he did! LOL Alot of kids are like that now days, they're wild-actin', some of 'em are. I've seen some wild kids acting up around their parents at Wal-Mart plenty of times, just little mischivous Kenneth in this episode of Family Ties.
I miss this show. Michael J. Fox was such a great actor. There are so many subtleties in his acting that are often missing in sitcoms. Justine Bateman and Michael Gross were really good, too. The others? IMO, they never seemed to quite hold their own with MJF.
I thought Justine Bateman was a standout in this episode; she usually didn't get the credit she deserved because Michael J. Fox dominated the show. But her crying in the Dean's office was both real and very funny and there was a very nice mixture of sincerity and humour between them on the train.
At the end of the day, Alex always put his relationships first. Ultimately, his family meant a lot to him. His occasional selfishness was just a facade. He was so loveable. They don't create characters like this too often.
Family Ties is one of those unique classic 80's sitcoms that had real life situations with real life results. not the typical 'always' happy ending but REAL endings in life. and i think that's why its one the best written, directed and acted shows on tv back in the day. Sadly, there is more self-centered character driven tv shows on these days and not enough Family Ties types. what this world desperately needs...
well i was just stating my opinion and u come up and make fun of me! i was just saying tht it was a great time in movies and celebrities and u just had to be a jerk and ruin it for every one! thx
Well, I think he did, The dean saw his good qualities-his sister(family)is much more important to him, and he saw that as a positive quality of the candidate...anyway i don't remeber what happens next...but i think he passed
No, Alex attends a fictional nearby Leland College in the later part of the series. The show would end much sooner if Alex was all the way in Princeton University in NJ instead of Columbus, Ohio.

Oh man...it just doesn't stand up. The "heartwarming" wrapup on each episode. It's just so Reagan 80s. The cartoonish stodgy Dean? Mallory busting in? Just...not at all real. I came of age in the 80s, and there is hardly a sitcom I can watch from that era anymore.
It's method is enlightening in comparison with today's sitcoms. The twee today is too materialistic/self-orientated. There are wholesome morals in these old gems.
well, it's an interesting opinion, fuggy, if i may call you fuggy. have you thought of it from the angle that these types of programs wrap a 'truth' inside of their storyline, and in order to get to that truth, they have to take their characters through seemingly ridiculous situations?
Family Ties has to be one of my favorite sitcoms ever!!! Shows just aren't as good anymore, no offense. Michael J. Fox is my favorite actor and Justine Bateman is EXTREMELY HOT!!!!
Wow.... so suprised steven would encourage Kenneth to keep burning ants. I guess anyone would do anything to get ride of an annoying person. :)

You won't see Mallory nude (at least I don't think), but if you want to see Justine Bateman naked, rent "Out of Order."

That's awful: According to your own opinion, the best period in your lifetime so far is a period in which you weren't even born yet. I feel for you.

So true. All you see in sitcoms these days are teenagers interested in cars and sex. It gets so boring so fast.
