We program them for war, it's sad. 54% of US casualties were under 25 years old. 30,757 US Troops Wounded 20% of which are serious brain or spinal injuries (total excludes psychological injuries). Oct 1 2008 U.S. Troop Casualties 4,188. Non-US Troop Casualties total 313, with 176 from the UK. $9 billion of US taxpayers money and $549.7 milion in spare parts shipped in 2004 to US contractors is lost & unaccounted for in Iraq 190,000 guns including 110,000 AK-47 rifles. That's almost perfect!
The majority of soldiers do not volunteer for a 2nd or 3rd tour. Unlike any other job in this country, you can't quit. The tours have been extended up to 12 months. The soldiers don't have a say in any of this. They do what they are told or face the consequences. And then when they are injured physically or mentally, we don't even give them proper treatment back home. We've documented over 100,000 Iraqis killed since the invasion of 2003 and spent how many hundreds of billions of dollars?
yes that is true that Units are called upon to deploy to Iraq and Afghanistan. But the soldiers to have a say in this right from the beginning. They can choose not to join in the first place. Remember it's an all volunteer military. What you need to ask yourself is why do they still do it even after all the trash-talking that people do. I just had a friend who's father is a millionaire re-join and transfer from 10th mtn div to armor brigade. Thank God for people that want to make a difference.
There are always going to be people that can't do anything else but be in the military. And the bait they use definately has a strong influence. "We'll give you $50k to go to school" "We'll give you $1800/month if you're married" They should tell everyone about the tens of thousands of disabled veterans that are struggling to stay sane and tell everyone there's a 30% chance a US soldier will develop serious mental health problems within 3 to 4 months of returning home.
This is a bunch of crap. Unbelievable, bush still tries to make a connection between the 9/11 attack and our random (hmm maybe oil?) war in Iraq. How depressing. Ps love how you try to appeal to peoples emotions with that LOTR clip, we started that war... you need to ask yourself who the victims in Iraq really are.
I have a classmate and she came from Iraq. She told the whole class that iraqis are home arrested and live in hell today. People, especially young boys are afraid of getting out of house because no one can tell when he will be regarded as a threat to American troops and get killed. She has lots of relatives still live in Iraq. I believe what she told me.
That's hard to believe seeing all the pics and vids of kids surrounding our troops to meet and talk to them. Maybe 17-19 yo is what she was talking about.
firejack - it's called media PR. war is NOT what it looks like in news and most documentaries.
timberland - who does she threaten? the Iraq war is not a war against Iraq. If you had terrorists in your town, would you be able to live for 7 years in your home while bombs go off and occupying soldiers shoot anything that moves? grow some balls or develop some perspective. Iraqis are as human as you and me, and they had NOTHING TO DO WITH 911. Let the soldiers go home.
By saying "let the soldiers go home" you make it sound almost like they are being held against their will. Why then are they re-enlisting by the thousands? Why are they volunteering to go on 2nd and 3rd tours to Iraq. Because they know a lot more than you or I. Your right, it's not what it looks like in the media. The soldiers don't shoot anything that moves. Yes the Iraqis are human and therefore they deserve the freedoms and help you would give anyone else. Don't know why you brought 9/11 up.
Once again Our Commander in Chief goes into the War zone to encourage our Brave Volunteer Soldiers that keep us safe so we can sleep at night in calm and security. They put life and limb on the line so many back home can cry and whine of the sacrifices they do not even make.
Thank You Firejack and DevilDog and all troops for your service. Gathering of Eagles is fighting the war at home with the anti-war left. No, they just couldn't get a job so they sucked into the marines. they'll learn. but if they do, they will probably end up like those 3 of 6 soldiers with the NY times op-ed, 1 with a bullet in his head (survived) and 2 others in a vehicle "accident". HOW FREE ARE YOU REALLY? ;)

You obviously don't understand the military structure. The PotUS is the top general of the military and has been since that other George W. I think it's ok for President Bush to talk to his own troops.
Why don't TV and cable networks show the video of Air Force One landing on the runway in Iraq? I did see a picture of it on the runway. I had seen the others come off of a C-17 and thought the President did the same. The scene of AF1 on the runway I thought was a powerful message in itself. Possibly, the military doesn't want it to be shown flying in or out for security reasons.
YTCommunityWatch2 please make sence bringing are troops home int going to make us safe.We need to keep are troops there untill the job is done. Are we will be sorry and un safe if iraq becomes a terrorist state.
Great job on the video! I really like how you added the dialogue at the end. Is there a way I can get this file downloaded? My best friend is the marine who had his picture taken with the President. Thanks.
Gonna be funny in a few years when all the anti-war people are thoroughly bitch-slapped by reality. You won't run into anybody who "opposed the war" come then.
I don't think you realize just what we are capable of. Why, we just flew 5 nukes on a B52 to Louisiana and didn't even know it. And here Iran is just building their first and really think they're something powerful. When the media talks of being stretched too thin they are talking numbers and are wrong because when the generals talk about it they mean length of time in theater for certain units.
Your expired visa proves you have no respect for the U.S. and no claim on our brave men and women in the military. They don't want to come home just to come home. They want to finish their job. Instead of buying into the appeasement deception, invest in winning the war, for us and for the innocent people of the Middle East. Giving aid and comfort to the enemy just makes a war have to go on that much longer.
