  • Oh, they made a gig in a 474 Jumbo? - Wow, that's groovy!!

  • Fucking great. Love these guys.

  • ThIS IS goooood, hats off to whoever did it

  • great song bu this vid - hurts my epilepsy.

  • That's a great video, never remember seeing it before. And although the sound isn't "clean" it adds to the quality in my view.

  • McGuinn is responsible for launched a psychedelic explosion with this song. He is one of the hardest working songwriter/performer of his era outlasting many, and still playing strong today.

  • 確か、ドラッグについて歌ってる、

    とかの疑惑で、

    一時放送禁止になったな、この曲。

    にしても、懐かしいよな~。

    サイケの時代だな。

  • @kurotanuki1021 ?????????...

  • @kurotanuki1021

    @BobTheWad

    I'm a 55 years old Japanese.

I wrote " If my memory is correct, this song was prohibited from being aired because it was suspected to sing about LSD, wasn't it? Anyhow, this nostalgic song reminds me of that psychedelic '60s and I love it !"

I love Steppenwolf, Ohio players, and Earth wind and fire, too !!!

  • @kurotanuki1021 Yes..Many radio stations thru out the country would not play this; just as 'dancing In The Streets', by Martha And The Vandellas was said would incite riots..

  • Grupo Estadounidense formado en 1964.Aclamados como una replica americana de los Beatles.Produjeron una serie de sencillos excelentes, entre 1965 a 1968.Datos libro Amor al Rock.

  • another great song from the 60"s

  • this song is amazing, in argentina we had a program called "peter capusotto y sus videos" and him play videos that are too old, so this video him played yerterday and it was amazing i love this song.

  • where on earth did you ever get this?? i always wondered what mcguinn did with all the footage he was always shooting in the 60s.

  • This audio has too many interruptions in the sound track.........that sucks! Off/On Off/On

  • Frankly, I love this video. It's raw and real. Just the way Roger found it and filmed it. Awesome! And great song, too!

  • This was filmed during the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper & Pink Floyd's Piper at the Gates of Dawn era.

  • Instead of the "Magnificent video" it is

  • not the best video....way to busy

  • @MIKCURIE You're way too busy

  • @UprightBoltUpright not bloody likely

  • Please leave it exaclty the way it is. These old(new) videos are exaclty what they are, don't colorise em.

  • i agree the origanal rock

  • i have always been a fan of this song but the high pitched plane sound in the background ruins it for me. sorry.

  • This was the Byrds short euro visit in 67..they did Top of the Pops and believe it or not.....Doddys Music box..a show by UK comedian Ken Dodd...they mimed to So You Want to Be a Rockn Roll star...saw both shows...and then they jetted off to Sweden to do a session on Radio Hus where they did live vocals to backing tracks they had recorded before they left LA....all on You Tube

    Jim

  • If it ever becomes possible to vacation in time periods rather than places, never mind the laws of time and space (where if you squish a bug in 1965 and it greatly alters the present) I would set it to Soho in London in the summer of '65....so I could live things like this first hand.

  • Soho in 2006 wasn't half bad.

  • I don't think squishing a bug greatly alters the present (the future maybe, but even then I kind of doubt it--unless it is one in a billion bug that would have led to the evolution of supersmart bug people a billion years later)

  • perhaps we are the supersmart bug people

    that would explain politicians

    i wanna grow up

    to be a...

  • @joshhodg Nah, the weather's shit here now and it was shit then too. Give me a convertible Ford Mustang cruising LA in 1965 going to see the Doors play in Venice beach.

  • Man this takes me back. Living and breathing the 60s. Fantastic vid. Cheers for making an old reprobate happy.

  • matrags you were alive in the 60s

  • Amazing! I saw the Byrds do a promo gig at London's Roundhouse a few days after this. They didn't play live as their '65 UK tour had been panned. I was gutted that they'd all cut their Brian Jones haircuts. Mike Clarke had a bad centre parting and Crosby had gone for Peruvian undertaker chic. But me and the other 200 fans totally adored them. They played a promo copy of Younger Than Yesterday, signed autographs and Crosby uttered a few nervous words. They were all pretty stoned. RIP Mike.

  • This song is stupefyingly great! In the highest ranks of musical expression - up there with Good Vibrations and a handful of others. Thank you for posting this reminder!

  • Now I know why the original video was yanked. WMG is claiming copyright violation.

Smooth move, attorney schmucks. If you want Byrds fans to pay iTunes to download music you don't really think people will be satisfied with the lo-fi sound via YouTube, do you?

No wonder the music business is dying.

  • This vid proves beyond a doubt that time travel is indeed possible!!!! WOW! Vid is the idolotry of YouTube! I thought I was leaving there for minute there! My first

8-track was the Byrds greatest hits.

  • I should have been alive in the 60s.

  • Why did YouTube yank down the original video for Eight Miles High?

  • 12 string Rickenbacker ANTHEM for the

AGES. THIS IS the sountrack of the mid

    60's...........

RossM3838 and matrags said it ALL.

    Thanks to AprilFirstProd for THIS

  • Yeah 42 yrs......hmmmmmm.......back then I proved that a caveman could buy a GTO.

  • That bass intro grabs me every time. Hard to believe that this song was recorded 42 years ago.

  • Hehe...I know exactly what you mean, And then when the guitar kicks in I'm solid gone man.

  • An astounding song. Any Londoner recognises 'rain grey town'. I've been listening to this record for 40 years and I never get sick of it.

  • uh...it's Zane Gray town....in reference to the american western novelist.

  • Good one :0)

  • Good McGuinn didn't quit his day job. Was the point of the video to leave everyone dizzy?

  • ROFL

  • Captain Rick Rocks

  • The editing on that great video was years ahead of its time! Way to go Roger McGuinn!

  • heavenly

  • Awesome song of magical power. Vid is really great too.

  • Goes to show that a simple song can become one of the best ever made. None of this Simple Plan rubbish.

  • Great job, AprilFirstProd! Nice how you mixed "2-4-2 Fox Trot" and "Eight Miles High"!

  • Hey, I think I saw Marianne Faithful!
