This is from THE PRODIGAL, probably taken from a telecast on TCM. The leading lady is the beautiful Esther Ralston. Tibbett wasn't really a bad acor at all. As i recall, he had done some straight plays (non-singing roles) in stock. He had a very engaging personality, as well as a very beautiful voice.
I listened to Lawrence Tibbett sing this song on an old 78rpm record when I was about 6 or 8 years old - back in the early 1960s. A great tune by Vincent Youmans and lyrics by Rose & Eliscu.

@legatofancier Tibbett played Iago in "Othello" before his full-time singing career. I'd say he was quite a good actor:).
