This is so touching! You can really feel for Anakin, who only turned to the Dark Side to save his wife Padme and not because of lust for power (although that did come in later on, but you get my point), and ended up crushing her soul in his rage. I'm so happy he was able to redeem himself by killing Palpatine/ Darth Sidius at the end, although I wish he had survived :(

The way I see it, Anakin was meant to turn to the Dark side. He was after all, a son born purely from the Force, which influences both sides Light and Dark. The reasons he acted rashly and angrily while on the Light side was to show that he was meant to turn to the Dark side as well, not just stay on the Light side. The Force may have planned out Anakin's entire path from the beginning. The Jedi knew that he was to destroy the Sith, but not the way that they thought.

Ahh the prophecy. You know, one must wonder exactly what constitutes "balance". During the prequel, there were a total of what, maybe five sith? There were millions of jedi. MILLIONS. They were in a position of power in the republic that was unmatched, even by the senate, as proved by their attempt to assassinate the chancellor. The light side was too strong in the galaxy, and it was causing the rupublic to stagnate, which is why there was so much corruption. I would say Anakin brought balance.

Amazing how the whole prophecy of the "Chosen One" turned out in the two trilogies. Anakin was once perceived as the one who was going to destroy the Sith. but ended up joining them by becoming Darth Vader and killing millions of Jedi. A lot of people, especially those unfamiliar with the original trilogy, doubted he was but when looking back at Episode 6 when Luke redeemed Vader, he proceeded throwing Palpatine to a freaking pit. So he DID destroy the Sith.
