Lol I remember this video fom high school cracked me up with Sinbad playing Walter. They should get back to gether and do a tour and hopefully they can do a Music awards show next yr.
Sounds great even after all these years! Also, when I'd hear this song in about 1988 or thereabouts it gave me the creeps! I remember walking in the living room seeing the video while my Moms was at work. Funny I still get chills on the last verse
MY NAME IS WALTER....REMEMBER WALKN FROM SCHOOL KIDS USE TO FUK WIT ME EVERYDAY.....NOW I GOT MY 1ST SON AN EVERYTYME I PLAY DIS HE BE LOOKIN AN SMILIN.....PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I believe this video was also for people going to college or in college at the time as well. I remember this, School Daze and ADW were all out at the same time. It's a message in this song for college students. If you attended a hbcu in the 80's or 90;s, you already know what im talking about!
This music will live on FOREVER.. word up on da realz. i cant say that about da new school....10 more yrz, they STILL gon play jamz like this.. can someone PLEASE give me a thumbz up? LOL..
had no idea who little walter was at that time..until cadilac reacords...I had my on vision of a young man with quick fam and didnt know what 2 do with it...well at least my vision was right ,wow and i was born in the 70's rip lil walter
This song scared the pure shyt outta me as a little kid. Walter was using dope but I never knew that just knew something killed his azz. I was dancing to all them moves, and scared at the same time. Soul music with a message works, we gotta bring this type of soul back!
@radah25 , this song was actually based on the personal experience of Rafael Sadique, "Walter" was a drug dealer who made some bad deals and was shot to death one day as he answered the door, the song was Tony Toni Tone's version of the old spirtual "Wading on the water" i hope that helps.
TTT was always one of the more unique artists. First time I heard this back in the day I couldnt believe it sounded something like church meets Whodini lol
One of my favs from Tony Toni Tone, I love the beat and the harmonies and the fact that Sinbad is in the video ( my fave comedian) My parents had the pleasure of meeting Sinbad once he got out the of the airforce and before he became famous. He was a cable man, he hooked up their cable, he kept them laughing the entire time he was there. My parents were having a party that night but did not invite him, years later when they saw him on T.V they kicked themselves for not inviting him to the party.
I remember this jam and I loved it back then! The dance moves are the bomb and the harmony's are tight! You know these dudes sang in church! Working as an RN in drug treatment, I only know to well the evils of drug addiction, and I hope more young people will learn that. This video was a great teacher of that IMO! Love this group!
Father I pray all that watch this video will have a wlk worthy of you and the fruit of the spirit will be evident in their lives. Tony Tone Toni has done it again : )
this was real music, no one calling me a hoe or a b*tch. u can listen to it full blast without turning notihing down or when older people are in the room, what happened to the guys of this band? anybody knows, liked all their songs
Exactly WHY was this song so "controversial"? I don't understand. The song has a message behind it, so people back then complaining about the "Wade in the Water" usage were STUPID, since Tony! Toni! Tone! were a CREDIBLE group from the 80s.
Hey doob234, that "depressing churchy version" saved people's lives, and brought them out of slavery.
You might want to think before you speak. I guarantee you Tony Toni Tone doesn't share your sentiment. They where just updating the "O' slave ass suffering version" for modern times, hoping to educate idiots like you. Unfortunately, you can't do much with a fool!
I started singing this song the other day, so I decided to look it up. This video used to scare the mess out of me as a child! Now as an adult, it doesn't make any sense! LOL
LOL! I hadn't thought about this song in years but today a Tony Toni Tone song was playing on the radio and I started thinking about Little Walter. I remember this song giving me nightmares! Well, I just watched the video and I'm all like WTF ... what did I find so scary about it? It doesn't even sound as spooky as I remembered it. And it has Sinbad acting a fool. Sinbad! How did I find this video so scary? The mind plays tricks, I swear.
LOL! Good, I thought I was the only one. I think what scared me the most as a child was the part, "When Walter fell to the floor, and the casket part. Now, as an adult, I look at the dramatics of this video, and I'm like....they went through ALL THAT, and all the brotha had to do was pay a late fee for the rent! ha ha ha
@crcaldwell I agree, but the fear factor was it was basically a modern spiritual with a prophetic message. Things weren't as degraded as they are now, and Walter was a metaphor for Black Consciousness dealing with the crack epidemic and the down spiraling to come, it's scary how on point they were.
I know everybody has got there memories with this song, but when i first so this video i was stationed in Germany and i saw it on a video jukebox, in there getting drunk and dancing GOOD TIMES!
lol walter from a different world. sinbad was the shit then!!! I was 10 years old when this song came out. this use to be my jam!! I remember this was their first single.
