The music is great, but she is like so many of the "angsty" (if that's a word) performers that just seem to try so hard.

You're a fucking singer/songwriter/performer. No one out a gun to your head and forced this on you. If you can't be bothered to do what is expected then go work at K-mart or something that will give you genuine angst.
