Here is a good trick that I found :

First, take something and cover the upper body of the ballerina. You should be able to see only her two feet. Imagine that the moving foot is a pendulum that moves only in 2D. Then, see it in 3D, going in the direction that you want. So you can ''reset'' your mind from the direction it was going and choose the direction that it goes, at the moment that the legs are crossing.

Then, uncover the upper-body of the ballerina and do the same thing.

actually, she is spinning both ways in the same time. If you stare at the upper part she spinns counter clockwise, if you stare the legs she spinns clockwise.

After all, it depends on which part you stare at first, nothing to do with logic and creativeness.

You should try to isolate first the upper (by reducing the window) and then the legs. you will directly understand the illusion

Hey, if you see it going counterclockwise and can't see it going clockwise, scroll down to where u can only see the bottom half of her legs. Then start reading the description. That activates the creative side of your brain, which will immediately turn the dancer from counterclockwise to clockwise. Then scroll back up and just say, "Oh cool!" If you try to figure it out, you'll be switching right back to logical

A little help for u guys .. If u want to see her rotate in different way .. at the beginning u have to choose a leg ok ?. Then when u choose it u have to think at that leg as a RIGHT or LEFT leg .. u have to choose one and keep with that . If u choose for example the leg perpendicular with the ground as a right leg .. then she will turn counterclockwise.. if the perpendicular leg is LEFT then he will turn clockwise. Have fun

I think the foot she rotates on is the key point to change directions. All about imagining the silhoette's 3dimensional orientation right around when it can only be percieved as facing the viewer or facing away from the viewer

The reason most people perceive her going clockwise is because of the perspective. We assume that she is standing (floating) perpendicular to the floor. and thus as you watch her feet you'll notice it moves in an elipse in your vision because of perspective. Thus the girl can only be turning clockwise to achieve this and still be perpendicular to the floor. To see her turning counter clockwise will look awkward for visually adept individuals. Thus it is still possible to see her going either way

a trick is to cover the rest of her body but her foot. if you concentrate hard she will spin the other way. The trick is to get her to go back the other. I can make her not do a full rotation and instead make it look like shes swinging her foot back and forth in front of her.

Notice as she spins how your vision makes a little circular motion as her leg goes around? There is a point when she 's facing away from you (about 1:00): the pivot point. As you watch her spin, when she hits the pivot point, change your focus and "shift" your vision into a reversed circular patter. The leg will catch up and you can lock in on the dancer going the other direction. May take a couple spins, but you'll catch on.

All you have to do is stare at the bottom foot. If you tilt your head to the left and stare at the bottom foot the dancer will turn clockwise. Tilt your head to the right and she will turn counter-clockwise. Sometimes when she changes the tilt of you head will just change the direction she is turning.

Here's something interesting to notice if you can see her turn in both directions. Instead of just looking at the feet look at the whole body while it's changing direction. When she changes direction, the elevated leg switches from left leg to right leg, or vice versa depending on the direction to which it changes.
