This is because while singing in gutteral voice, as you said, affect our vocal chord severely, it would not end up in a higher pitch. In fact, almost all of death growler cannot even sing moderately high note properly. Then what happened to Chuck?

@guitarplayerk11 ....over the years...because of his continuous gutteral singing. his vocal cords were damaged more and more and he could not even growl properly as using vocal fry could harm his vocal cords damage more and more. So, he had to sing in that scream (gritty falsetto) instead of using deep gutteral/growl. This ended up in seemingly high-pitched vocals. In fact, both techniques he used damaged his vcords. I am encoutering the same problem. Not arguing with you. just a discussion!
