  • Ive been following your smallville reviews forever and decided to look at some of your older reveiws and noticed this one. I love romance books as well and hope you'll do more book reviews in the future cuz this one is great>

  • The character development was not well written. Lindsey needed to go into more detail about why Bettina fell in love with the Tristan. As the story is, there is no reason for her to fall in love with him, other than Stockholm syndrom. This is one of the first romance novels I read, way back in the day. I don't mind a little forced seduction in my stories, but this one was too much.

  • I love Johanna Lindsey!! But SOmething about this didn't sit well. I couldn't even finish this book!

  • I just want to say this book was written in the 70s 80s? And at the time there was a theme of "those scenes" written about in romance novels not just by JL but other authors. She is an awesome writter as it shows in her Malory series, and other books like prisoner of my desire etc. Please review these books cause they are full of awesomeness!

  • @bablemama 1) Prisoner of my Desire is just as bad. 2) Don't pull that "it was written in ---" crap that so many others pull. Rapey bodice rippers are STILL being written. Shannon Drake wrote Conquer the Night in 2000. Anna Campbell wrote Claiming the Courtesan in 2007. I don't want the "it was written in ---" excuse, I don't want the "it's historically accurate" excuse, I want woman who like these books to just ADMIT that they LIKE to read about other women getting raped.

  • I agree onehundred percent. :)

  • I agree!THis was creepy TO me how he RAPes her er /tricks her ANd then SHe falls inlove with him?i mean?ugh....?WEird!

But i am a fan of Johanna lidsey!Im just sayin.... Just creepy.

  • hi! i am from argentina...this book is really terrible! i cant understand the romance between bettina and tristan, ir very dark and ugly...

  • i have read this book, and you are totally correct. trisdan is this lustful rapist, who enjoys kidnapping young ladies to use as his sex slave. me and few of my friends had a very amusing evening where we counted how many times he raped her, the total figure is not pretty. but, i have to say that i am an avid fan of johanna lindsey.(i really enjoyed when love awaits?) and this is not one of her best books. i mean, lust turns to love in about five secounds- which is absolutely ridiculous!

  • I appreciate you're review/rants..they're both informative and entertaining..

  • Hey Nancydrew , i havent had an opportunity to review the book, however i appreciate your opinion ,because of a lot of those books in those days were written just like that
