Ive always wonderd this can Satriani do that because i have never really seen him do it. It seems like Via has been doing this so well even back with David Lee Roth and White Snake, the tapping riff for building the church is something Via in part had already been working on in an old song in the 80s.

Maybe it is covered, but playing the same notes at the same speed doesn't mean having the same sound.Steve is doing it nearly effortlessly, whilst everything he plays still remains unique, and that's a masters sphere.

mastermation I agree that he is one of the best but he is not the best of all time. You must remember, eric johnson is on par with steve vai and most of all stanley jordon can play anything using just his fingers with touch style guitar. Steve vai is amazing and one of my guitar idols but you must try to avoid being biased.
