I'm not sure how it works on the Japanese version, but in my US version of RE: Director's Cut you can do this by selecting "Arrange Mode".

You have to get the key from Forest's dead body on the balcony, then open the door to the place in this vid.

Okay, this is for all of you that gave my comment so many thumbs down - Rebecca was unpacking at a desk 5 feet from where Chris had a desk. Even if she was new,it still isn't likely (but I will admit, not impossible) that she and Chris didn't previously meet before the Spencer Estate. If he's regularly in and out doing his job, and Rebecca's schlepping her stuff up and down the stairs to move into her new office, I still contend that the two would likely have met at some point between points.

And I still contend that it's not feasible that Rebecca and Chris never met before the events in the first Resident Evil. Have all of you forgotten that the two shared an office, and that Rebecca was moving into a desk 10 feet away from Chris? Check the STARS office in Resident Evil 2! There's every evidence to suggest they would have met before RE1 events!

Honestly, what you say reinforces my original point - only one team gets desks, except for Rebecca, who's in Bravo, and not everyone in Alpha gets a desk at that. Seems to me that the desks were only put in that way only to highlight the original survivors.
