Do they feel depressed after they get their leg amputated like a human? Really from a cat expert please not from ppl who assume they do... Also I mean for us humans itS way different bc our lives change drastically if we lose one leg.
@MzChelxoxo From experience and reading, they seem to adjust fairly quickly. I had a three legged cat who didn't allow it to interfere with what he wanted to do. 3peeo kept up with all my other cats. They're not like humans. They have more courage than most of us. He even climbed the tree when he was outside. It was harder to get down than it was to climb up but he managed.

I just saved a kitten from the drain today. I realised she was lame on her right paw. I was scared for her. Gonna get her check out tomorrow. It seemed like a birth defect though. I think I'm going to keep her. This video gives me hope. Thank you for posting this.
I have a three-legged cat. He's missing his left front paw and he moves just as well as my other two cats who have all four of their legs. (They had to amputate due to some disease, cancer, or infection. I'm not entirely sure. He was like that when we got him.)
If you have the opportunity to adopt an amputated cat, like this one, go for it. There's nothing different about them than other cats except that they hobble at walking pace, but mine is fully capable of running.

This is a very belated thank you. Five months ago I was considering adopting a three-legged rescue cat. Seeing this video of Link made me feel confident enough to take the plunge. And, I'm pleased to say the end of this story is a happy one. You had a hand in giving this abandoned kitten a home and our family a wonderful pet. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
I just wondered, did you know if a cat thats had its front left leg amputated can it still walk around at its normal pace? because my cat had her front leg amputated, and today we take her to the vets to give her the once over, then we will let her out of her cage and get rid of it (the cage, not the cat).
@ECmagick I saw once three legged cat in a hotel in portugall. she walked quite well (well, she was rather hopping but did not pause for too long and seemed very happy and full of life).

my cat Bunny has a problem with her back leg and has been hopping around on three legs for a few weeks now. I hate to see that her leg causes her so much pain that she can't put any pressure on it. this gives me so much comfort that since surgery won't help her, she might be able to run and hop again as her name suggests. thanks so much!!!!

there are two kittens with three legs at the animal shelter I am volunteering at. They both lost their rear right leg due to complications when they were being born. They realy seem to have adapted well to only having three legs.
I just got my cat back from the Vet after having her right hind leg removed. She's upset and it's very sad but better than the alternative. I look forward to when she can run like this :)
Not too long ago my cat had babies. 5 of them and one of them no right leg. The cat had babies outside in the barn so no1 knows what happened. I was so upset and didnt know why he deserved that. but these videos make me feel a lot better :) (His name is Peg Leg)

the 1 thing i hate about cats. is when hey pick on other 3 legged cats only because there different......but ......there ony different because there special but in the end there all the same. just some have might have legs but so what at least there still alive and kickin!!!

OH MY GOODNESS!!! Hehehehe my three legged cat looks JUST LIKE HIM!!! My sister and I found him when he was only a day old-his mother had abandoned him and his leg was missing and infected. We treated him and fed him with a dropper and miraculously he survived :) We named him "Kaden" meaning "fighter", which he really is!! He is such a blessing to our family :)

Geez...big difference when a dog is missing a rear leg, they need a wheel chair. But why would you let your cats go outside regardless of any handicap?
I let my cat go outside for the first time in three weeks after the amputation and after one hour she had caught a mouse, so shes doing very well LOL. Dont worry if your cat needs to amputate a leg, they will not even know anythings gone and are very fast when they run, but looks a bit strange when they walk thats all. So dont kill your cat if a leg is damaged people!!!

My cat was bit by a dog yesterday an has to amputate her right leg. It will cost 1500 dollars, should I make my neighboer who owns the dog pay the 1500? At first the vet said that its not often they amputate cats, but I made her agree do it, i dont want to put her to sleep, and seeing this video I think I made the right call
But it happened because she could not hold him back and he attacked my cat on my property. on my porch. She is to blame for walking him on my land when she cant hold him back in my opinion

CONTACT A LOCAL HUMANE SOCIETY... the surrounding vets all quoted me 15-1600$'s and i stressed that i can't afford that and for my cats health, til i found my local humane society and the price changed to $700 with all the same procedures and anesthetics. and just as qualified and experienced vets. Humane Society was reared to save animals lives, they will help you.
Thanks for the info, but I already paid the vet and drugstore over 2000 dollars for the operation, special food and medicine. but it was worth it. My other cat is bigger and he protects her from other cats when they are outside
My siamese cat Leonardo is missing his front right leg. His breeder said his paw got caught in the crate door when he was a week old. He's the best cat we've ever had; very smart, very cute, and loyal. He's not disabled at all -- he's just as fast as 4 legged cats. He's had a lot of adventures so far in his two years. Runs and walks just like my baby girl Marbles. Infact she is missing the same leg. The right hind leg, correct? She's still a quick little thing as well. Does your kitty ever trying to scratch her neck or ears with /hisher missing leg, and all that moves is the little nub? Also does she ever get fleas and lumps/ absesses in places he/ she can no longer scratch?

Cats adapt really quickly we and a friend both have amputee moggies. Ours runs -perdoink perdoink perdoink! She lost her leg over 10 years ago and is her usual belligerent old boot - ish self! Our friend's cat was called Brian and lost his leg 6 months ago...they re-named him Bripod, lol.

i have a 3 legged kitten, and when it was a small baby it had to get its back leg amputated off. It doesnt even realize its back leg is missing, and it adapted very quickly. Now, when it has an itch in the head the little stub moves and we all run over to go itch his head, Hes adorable.

I once heard about a lady who was contemplating having her cat put down after she learned she would have to lose his front leg. However, the vet showed her his three-legged cat in motion, and the lady realized her kitty would have a normal life with three legs. She thought before it would be more compassionate to euthanize the animal, but quickly changed her mind.

The cat is alive, having fun and being well looked after theres PLENTY to be happy about. Also the cat acts like he still thinks he has 4 legs lol and well i laughed at the video and im sure the cat didnt mind.

our cat Belle had her back leg amputated two months ago - and your video was one of the ones that made me feel better about having the op done! She is now fully recovered and getting out and about again- although a bit tentatively as the injury was due to a dog bite so she is naturally quite nervous. Thanks for posting it made me feel assured that our much loved cat would be ok and lead a happy life.

Great film!! Our cat Captain Pugwash has just had his hind leg amputated after a car accident. (He wasent driving lol) For an old timer, in the 3 days since the op he is climbing stairs and jumping onto work surfaces. Just dosent seem to bother him too much. Is amusing to see him lean on walls as he gets around tho. All he needs is a parrot and Pugwash (he has a black eye patch marking) can audition for Pirates of Caribean 4.

Ah, adorable. I have a 3 legged Wonder Lab (Casie). Same leg missing. And yes, they compensate amazingly and you cannot tell they are missing a leg. I forget that she is 3 legged.
My cat Merlin rescued, 1/2 back leg missing, doesn't know he's handicapped either! Doesn't jump on tables or counters at all. He's spoiled, but not nearly enough.

OH MY GOODNESS!!! Hehehehe my three legged cat looks JUST LIKE HIM!!! My sister and I found him when he was only a day old-his mother had abandoned him and his leg was missing and infected. We treated him and fed him with a dropper and miraculously he survived :) We named him "Kaden" meaning "fighter", which he really is!! He is such a blessing to our family :)

I let my cat go outside for the first time in three weeks after the amputation and after one hour she had caught a mouse, so shes doing very well LOL. Dont worry if your cat needs to amputate a leg, they will not even know anythings gone and are very fast when they run, but looks a bit strange when they walk thats all. So dont kill your cat if a leg is damaged people!!!

My cat was bit by a dog yesterday an has to amputate her right leg. It will cost 1500 dollars, should I make my neighboer who owns the dog pay the 1500? At first the vet said that its not often they amputate cats, but I made her agree do it, i dont want to put her to sleep, and seeing this video I think I made the right call

CONTACT A LOCAL HUMANE SOCIETY... the surrounding vets all quoted me 15-1600$'s and i stressed that i can't afford that and for my cats health, til i found my local humane society and the price changed to $700 with all the same procedures and anesthetics. and just as qualified and experienced vets. Humane Society was reared to save animals lives, they will help you.

Thanks for the info, but I already paid the vet and drugstore over 2000 dollars for the operation, special food and medicine. but it was worth it. My other cat is bigger and he protects her from other cats when they are outside

My siamese cat Leonardo is missing his front right leg. His breeder said his paw got caught in the crate door when he was a week old. He's the best cat we've ever had; very smart, very cute, and loyal. He's not disabled at all -- he's just as fast as 4 legged cats. He's had a lot of adventures so far in his two years. He lives with his sister, Cleopatra (they're two litters apart) in our home in Wisconsin.

My cat had been missing for a week when on sunday, she showed up on sunday skinny, filthy and with a broken leg. We took her to the vets and got her x rayed and her femur has splintered because she has been wlaking on it. it was either put her down or amputate her leg so she has had her leg amputeted today. so this video has kinda cheered me up!

My cat who is 8 years old had to have his back leg amputated, and we got him back yesterday. Right now he is very sore of course, but I am wondering how you got your cat moving again. Mine only is moving when he has to, and considering his laziness, that isn't very often. If you have any tips at all for getting your cat walking again or how much is appropriate at the early stages, please let me know. Whenever we put him standing he just gives up.

I got a kitten today, only three legs. the one leg was infested with maggots, so they amputated it. It was also born with no tail, and has 1 blue eye, 1 green eye. And yet.... It's still the perfect kitten.

My cat got hit by a car monday, and we had to have her hind left leg taken off. I thought it was going to be really sad but we picked her up today and brought her home and shes already acting normal. shes jumping on the back of the couch and climbing on window sills. its amazing how losing a leg has barely affected her. of course shes not used to it yet, its her first day but shes doing fine. We had the decision to put her to sleep or take the leg off, im glad we had the leg taken off.

Runs and walks just like my baby girl Marbles. Infact she is missing the same leg. The right hind leg, correct? She's still a quick little thing as well. She's lived with 3-legs sine age 1, but not even her mother realizes it's missing! Does your kitty ever trying to scratch her neck or ears with /hisher missing leg, and all that moves is the little nub? Also does she ever get fleas and lumps/ absesses in places he/ she can no longer scratch?

Cats adapt really quickly we and a friend both have amputee moggies. Ours runs -perdoink perdoink perdoink! She lost her leg over 10 years ago and is her usual belligerent old boot - ish self! Our friend's cat was called Brian and lost his leg 6 months ago...they re-named him Bripod, lol.

My cat is at the vet having his back leg amputated as I write this. Some jerk hit and him and sped off. Seeing this video made me feel loads better. I guess all in all, I make due with two legs. Three probably aint so bad. Cool.

My 14 year old cat got one of her ront legs amputated because she got hit by a car and it was the most heartbreaking thing. That was two years ago, and now shes 16 and doing incredible. She acts like she still has 4 legs (:

i have a 3 legged kitten, and when it was a small baby it had to get its back leg amputated off. It doesnt even realize its back leg is missing, and it adapted very quickly. Now, when it has an itch in the head the little stub moves and we all run over to go itch his head, Hes adorable.

I once heard about a lady who was contemplating having her cat put down after she learned she would have to lose his front leg. However, the vet showed her his three-legged cat in motion, and the lady realized her kitty would have a normal life with three legs. She thought before it would be more compassionate to euthanize the animal, but quickly changed her mind.

our cat Belle had her back leg amputated two months ago - and your video was one of the ones that made me feel better about having the op done! She is now fully recovered and getting out and about again- although a bit tentatively as the injury was due to a dog bite so she is naturally quite nervous. Thanks for posting it made me feel assured that our much loved cat would be ok and lead a happy life.

Great film!! Our cat Captain Pugwash has just had his hind leg amputated after a car accident. (He wasent driving lol) For an old timer, in the 3 days since the op he is climbing stairs and jumping onto work surfaces. Just dosent seem to bother him too much. Is amusing to see him lean on walls as he gets around tho. All he needs is a parrot and Pugwash (he has a black eye patch marking) can audition for Pirates of Caribean 4.

Ah, adorable. I have a 3 legged Wonder Lab (Casie). Same leg missing. And yes, they compensate amazingly and you cannot tell they are missing a leg. I forget that she is 3 legged.
