  • This is just like Jeeves & Wooster!

  • Delightful!

  • Lol, I love how the waitress turned it back onto them at the end;)

  • Stephen Fry is just like my driving instructor in this sketch. Uncanny, really.

  • Anyone else see Alan Statham in Fry's character here?

  • The passive aggressive classic.

  • @whyowhynot345 I'm sure that they are the product of said "Rosetta Stone"

  • stephen's mannerisms remind me so much of my granddad it's unreal

  • "This is right, you understand ?!" XD

    Maybe the best line.

  • i hate it when people come into my restaurant and think its impressive to order to french, especially since its an Italian Restaurant

  • lmao I love the ending! That waitress got them back!! XD

  • language stuff is tipically english.

  • 1:12 "alriiiiight" :D

  • NO no NO no!

  • Oh God, I work in a restaurant, and I get these sort of customers ALL the time, lol

  • @jerryplane WTF?! REALLY?! I know some customers can be bad, but there are some who actually are like this?!

  • @vengefulnoob worked in catering for seven years as staff as well as management. and yes there are in fact customers like this.

  • @vengefulnoob Fry and Laurie are actually polite and behaving in good manners here.

  • @Fortevn Oh of course, I apologise for the mistake.

  • listening to these guys

    is like

    my ears and brain

    having been taken

    for a ride

    on the Tilt a Whirl

  • between 2.05 and 2.15 do you think they just "copy and pasted" the "SOME!" ? :P

  • That waitress really got them that time

  • omg the pair of them are identical in speech to my fencing instructor I will never be able to speak to him with a straight face again...

  • Crivens! You can find anything on YouTube! I just typed "Fry & Laurie Restaurant" in and it took me straight to this that made me laugh all those years ago! Amazing!

This sketch works because there are people out there like this! (but it's obviously a bit exaggerated!)

  • their eyes are closed all the time!!! : P

  • One thing cannot be another thing, alright? Brilliant!!

  • This is why we build retirement homes...

  • Anyone who has ever worked in a restaurant will appreciate the humour here - you can advertise the entire menu in English and some snotty wanker will still order "the moules". Yes we call them 'mussels' here.

  • Oh, linguistics.

  • I would've thrown those two irritating bastards out of my restaurant... :-)

  • @Craplatte ...even if they were Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry?? I don't think so, Sir! I'm sure it's some kind of criminal comedy offence!! lol

  • @Craplatte lol, I should mention that I love your username btw! I get those regularly when I go out... even though I'm sure I've never actually ordered one...

  • @icequeen9 If i knew that it were Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie, i'd probably kiss their feet and ask them to make me their slave :-)

Thanks for the compliment btw., but i should mention that it doesn't refer to the coffee latte, but to the german word "Latte", which means "crossbar" or "picket", along with some other rather naughty translations :-) But crap still means crap... don't ask why i picked that combination, i'm not sure that my english is good enough for a plausible translation :-)

  • haha OWNED

  • My roommate and I think these 2 guys are probably on a date.

  • @wickedfeylady

They are Gods of British comedy! =D and great at making children's shows too, watch Pokoyo one day. =D

  • haha! thats great stuff!

  • Hugh looks like einstein, or is it just me? :D

  • Fry reminds me of my grandpa in this.

  • So true, I can't stand know-it-all pensioners.

  • They look like muppets in this sketch xD

  • please, I´m not english but I understand the full spot except for the end. Can anybody transcribe the last Hugh´s taped words? thank you.

  • Mazasan, Hugh says; 'I'm rather desperate for a pee'. - The word 'Pee' is simply a slang word for urinating. Since it sounds the same as pea as in the vegetable pea, the waitress puts a single pea on the table.

  • aah, ok. thanks¡¡¡

  • He says 'I'm rather desperate for a pee', meaning to urinate, and not a 'Pea' as the waitress brings him.

  • @mazasan I`m rather desperate for a `pee` Is what he had said, but she believed it as a PEA.

  • "noooo"

    They are killing me

  • Oh dear.

  • I love hugh laurie's madness in this sketch and the way he throws his head around as he talks to the waitress.

  • lol,persice.

  • we were in a restaurant once and there were two food critics on the next table similar to these...

food critic1:Well, well, this is awful isn't it.

food critic 2: Oh dear, this is the last restaurant on the island, we can't go back to any of the others.

food critic 1: You don't mean we'll have to cook for ourselves?

    watch:

harry potter 6 spoof: a gnomey production

if you like comedy and like to make fun of harry potter (or if you're a harry potter fan, or both like me)

  • I watched your video. . . I dare say I didn't find it very funny but I must say Dumbledore's beard is amazing =D

  • OMG I've got a teacher who is EXACLY lke these characters: especially what Steven does with his glasses.... I mean "oh, dear, no, no no!"

  • LOL "rather desperate for a pea"

  • Ooh dear!

  • "do you see, these are called bottles"

    SOME :DDD

  • Comment removed

  • He said "Snotty wankers" not slutty. Goodness gracious.

  • Calm down miss perfect -.-

  • I rather think that you should quote "sluty wankers!" when the sketch has the words "sluty wankers!" in it, dear... Thank you.

p.s Please don't flap at me, I was only joking. xD.

  • What series is this from?

  • a bit of fry and laurie

    another house-watcher i presume?

  • Yes :), but I meant which series: 1, 2, 3, 4?

  • Funny!

  • OF COURSE ITS SO SIMPLE!! one thing cannot be another!

  • soupe de poisson ! diantre!!!

  • this would be my idea of hell, but very funny lol!!

  • 'get out the pair of you you snotty wankers!!!' rofl!!!

  • I think they have their eyes closed for the whole sketch.

  • "oh dear" "nooo nooo...."

it's funny how they say it... XD

  • in the summer i worked as a waitress and there are idiot customers like these... mi bien, how i hated god then..,.:S

  • Wow it's like an older version of Niles and Frasier from Frasier lol

  • except with more hair haha

  • Frasier is actually a spin-off from Cheers if i'm not way out there.

  • geniuss.

  • Brilliant^-^

  • if i come across fickle-minded customers like this, i would swear to smite down those people.

but if those people are stephen and hugh... of course, that'll be a different story. :D

  • Strangely enough, I sometimes hear people complain like this in some restaurants! Stephen's doing that closed-eye patronising look too!

  • Hugh Laurie looks like an elderly David Spade in this.

  • lolzzzz

  • 'mineral water' 'oh dear' lol

  • lol. hugh laurie here reminds me of a muppet with how his head moves aorund

  • LMAO he got owned!

  • ahah this is graet

  • oooh, DEAR. Oh, dear.

Soup de Poisson IS fish soup.

No, no. No no no nooo~

  • The way Stephen said 'thank you' reminds me of my boyfriend's dad XD

  • Oh, dear! Perhaps I didn't make myself absoLUTEly clear. When I said you may GO OUT with my son, I didn't mean you may COME IN with him. Yet I find you here in my house, lounging upon my sofa. GOING OUT is not the same thing as COMING IN - do you see? So you may leave now, and perhaps you would be good enough to remember that next time. Thank you!

  • I'd be rolling over the floor laughing.

  • Suddenly, all I can think of is Sally Albright.

  • "You see: ONE thing cannot be ANOTHER thing. Allriiight?!"

  • omg i'm a waitress and this is great! customers can be so bad sometimes

  • Me too! I know exactly what you mean!

  • I have seen this so many time now, counting fast in my head, it must be around 20 times. And still, I found it entertaining and funny. Tragic people in TV and Movies are always funny, but not in reality though.

"We do tape all our conversations."

"Get out the pair of you, you snaughty wankers."

"Oh no, that was the restaurant we were on yesterday."

Fry and Laurie are brilliant when it comes to comedy, but also when it comes to other things...

  • Nice restaurant.

  • "No mention of bottles!"

  • Hey its my good friend from the eastenders video. how u doing?

  • Their eyes are closed through the whole sketch!

  • Is this really the entire sketch?

  • The tape recorder!

  • Smart waitress! lol she must have dealt with people like this before haha.

  • Who played the waitress? She was one of the few guest stars (after Deborah Norton's rip-roaring turn in Series 1) who worked very well in Fry & Laurie.

  • All the way through the vid I was trying to remember where I'd seen her. Then I had a vague memory of a series about bin-collection men, starring Edward Woodward. So I looked him up on Imdb and found the name amongst his credits - "Common as Muck". The cast list for that series had several females listed, but only one had a credit for Fry & Laurie on her imdb profile. So that must be her - Nimmy March. Her biog says she was adopted by the Duke and Duchess of Richmond.

    Call me Sherlock.

  • Thankyou sherlock, i was wondering who she was :)

  • Thank you! :)

  • There are actually people like this! It's not really a parody.

  • No way xD

  • yes , well it the usa we're rife with bad-mannered and rude customers and waitresses. there have been dates that ive gone on and not been able to eat my meal because my date was completely belligerent to the waitress over nonsense such as not placing half of the straw paper over the top of her straw. I cant imagine what the kitchen did to our food.

  • Michael Winner was famous for complaining in restaurants. Ricky Gervais once asked him, "How much chef's piss do you think you've drunk in your time?

  • quite funny indeed, ricky is a brilliant comedian and actor, great radio show as well, thanks for the mirthsome response, cheers

  • "Oh dear"

Love this sketch, absolutely hilarious. It always fun with really tragic sort of people in sketches.

  • "Quite delightful." XD

  • i never seen this sketch before it's funny. it's making fun of petty old people with nothing better to do than nit pick.

  • I think I never stop laughing if I watch more clips from A Bit of Fry and Hugh!

    LOL

    LOL

    LOL

  • Notice how angry he sounds at 1.13.Very funny.

  • Agreed. VERY funny. Stephen Fry is a comedy god.

  • "SOME" :D

  • love those wigs!!

  • Get out the pair of you,you snotty wankers

  • Do you see these are called Bottles.

  • "...oh dear!"

  • "No... no... no..."

Oh gosh how my sides hurt from laughing !

They look like they're having a contest to see who can do the best Peter O'Toole impersonation... I think Hugh wins !

  • "Oh dear."

  • omg i love it.

  • quite possibly the greatest comedy duo of all time. cheers old boys!

  • ahahha brilliant!

  • hahaha! Funny as!

    'Soup de poisson'...that's French!

  • Oh my word! That was just amazing

  • hahah, ive just noticed, they dont open their eyes!! look! hahaha

  • haha look at lauries head as he tilts it to the side.his wig should have come off. hahaha

  • Stephen Fry is a comedy genius and sees some people for what they really are WANKERS!!

  • They are so funny!

  • Oh, very good. Take that wankers!
