He talks about limited freedom on PressTV while Iranian National TV did not mentioned one word about 3 million marching on 25th of June. No one watches PressTV inside Iran. Masses do not know English! If someone says the same thing said here on a Persian speaking media, the showperson will be immediately punished and the person who made the call WILL be prosecuted.

The source is the very fear AN government has had from any protest and the brutality the security forces show against any protest.

In a single day, 3 millions (estimated by no one but Qalibaf) poured in the streets of Tehran when the event was canceled. Where the heck are those any of those 24 million in Mashad when Ahmadinejad was NOT welcomed by people of Mashahd.

George's biggest falacy is comparing Iran with her neighbors. It is like when a thief is being tried for stealing the defense comes and says there are plenty of murderers around so this thief is OK.

He is comparing Iran with her neighbors simply because similar values are shared among them. In general (although huge differences are claimed) the religion, traditions, believes, values, looks...of Iran andher neighbors are much more similar than those of the west (in compare) so if any comparison is carried out, it must e with the neighbors.

Also in all systems an uprising against the constitution is illegal, no matter where (e.g. west, north, east, south, ME, FE, W...)

I expect regime more than anyone to stick to the constitution. Once they do not they lose their own legitimacy. The least is to give rights of people by constitution. Whey they have not issued even ONE permit to opposition? Doesn't that tell you something? Terror Free Tommorrow think tank in America found that Ahmadinejad would win 2 to 1. Ahmadinejad had favor among Azeri minority and was popular with the poor countryside.

Also former CIA Agent Bob Baer gave a sobering assessment of the Iranian elections. He states the U.S. had connections with Northern Tehran and that they are the only ones protesting. He says the majority voted for Ahmadinejad. You can find his article in Time magazine online.

Just because you have a country where people could tick off a name on a piece of paper and slip it into a box doesn't mean that it is democratic. Democracy is not just a matter of voting. The voting aspect in this election is but a veil to make Iran seem like a democracy, when in fact it's a theocratic dictatorship in the background.
