  • Don Mansfield at the end is my buddies uncle who I raft with out here in Washington State, he's takin me on some pretty awesome trips. Great video, awesome river, gnarly ride, Hell Yeah!!

  • I like the end over end flip, and the calmness of the narrator

  • We ran the Illinois in 1988. First day flow was 950cfs. Started raining that afternoon and flow jumped to 4500cfs overnight. But it was no where close to the flow in this video. I'd say it is in the 10,000 to 12,000cfs. range. At 4500cfs, river left was not open and we ran 4-16 footers within a few feet of the wall. No flips and one swimmer. Submarine Hole was definately a problem.

  • Yes indeed. That river comes up FAST.

  • how high was the water in cfs?

  • I can't remember. This trip was way back in March of 1993. It was high enough that Submarine Hole rapid was washed out. We started out at a reasonable river volume on the first day, but then it rained all night resulting in very high water the day that we ran the majority of the whitewater.
