Here's how it happens for all of you 10 year old kids who forgot to learn their books.

When fire burns,It uses up oxygen.Normally if you put an empty glass over a (ex.) burning candle,the fire will quickly die becouse the glass cuts off the supply of oxygen to the fire.

That's easy,But you can't make the candle just take that oxygen off the glass with nothing to replace it.That's why the candle's fire will die so quickly,And that's why it sucked the water up in the glass.Just created a vacuum...
