Thank you very much Sunbeam, This is a true story all the way through. When we were kids we were too poor to have real bases so we did the best we could out in an open field. --:)Rod
Hi Rod...I had to come and see this one...Since I visited Atlanta on our summer trip this year...I am a baseball fan....or maybe a hunky baseball player fan...lol...I love how you have told this story through the eyes of a boy. Lovely song! Sunbeam :)
I picked up baseball from my dad and my uncles. And that's still why I love it, even with all the idiocy of the big league players at this point in time.
Rod, you sure do know how to write a great story/song and about the experiences and memories so many of us have in common. I know now days most girls play soft-ball, but back when I was going to a one room country school we all played baseball, so when I got to high school and the girls had to play soft-ball or not at all I couldn't pitch anymore 'cause I couldn't throw underhand worth a darn. LOL
Hi Mattie, Thank you very much. I remember playing catch with my dad when I was about 5 down in Wynne , Arkansas. Oh yes, I know about girl playing baseball. My sister was better than me, --:)Rod
Thank Gerry ! I remember telling my dad I could hit it out of the park and he laughed. Dad told me my britches weren't tall enough. Heck, I was about 5 and the fence only 340 ft away. lol --;)Rod
great une Rod! My favorite sport also! What your team? Do you follw othe Royals? I was born and raised in Northern Ohio, so I've been a very frustrated Indians fan.... They have come close a couple of times but always seems to choak at the end...... But the new season is upon us once again!!!
Hey Lar, The Inidans might not be too bad this year. They've got some good young talent. My team is the Cardinals. When I was very young there weren't a Kansas City or Atlanta team. The closest team was St Louis. Thanks bro' --:)Rod
Well thank you very much. My dad told me the part about my britches not being tall enough. The rest was written from the thoughts of my 6 year old grandson. He wanted a baseball slong. --:)Rod
Lovely song Rod! I enjoy these story songs that are about your life experiences very much! This one is priceless and timeless. I sure hope kids are still going out and practicing with Dad. Beautiful pickin and singing!
