@musicloverskillet Slap bass. Takes a bit of practise, but once you get it it's pretty easy. I talked a bit about it in one of my videos on my blog, might be worth having a look if you are interested.
@Vreci Thanks Wolfgang, nice to see you drop past! Have a go on this one, it's simple but quite therapeutic to play - you can really dig in and get some good sounds happening, I still enjoy playing this one a lot!
You dont have the tabs for the very last part when you on the high strings. can you tell me what your doing there cause I'm really haing a hard time trying to learn that THANKS
@pfootball43 not always though at the begining its the barabum but then it goes to only simply bum bum bum, i play it on guitar and bass thats my source for how i know; also loving queen
Hello ! This version is GREAT. You have the "feeling" to play this part on guitar. One question : I'm trying to play it with my acoustic guitar, but I cannot to reproduce the part you "hit" the chords. Do I have only to pratice or you use some kind of pitch or effect ? Thank you so much
Thanks for posting your vids and tabs. I very much enjoy your style. Do you have an opinion on which songs from your site would be best for a junior-ish level player to learn? I've picked up Goodbye Blue Sky / Anybody Out There and Breathe. Now I am wondering which song to try next but they all look equally difficult. -Cheers
Thanks - here comes the sun is a good primer, it doesn't require thumb independence. If you can play that, try out baby can I hold you, losing my religion or the logical song. They all require you to get the hang of thumbing a baseline while filling out a melody - left hand is easy enough, it's just the right hand you'll need to deal with ;)
find and learn the main riff to Tommy Emmanuel day tripper. That's where it all started for me, and I haven't looked back ;)
Cool tip, found a great video with Tommy showing his Day Tripper version. I think I'll have to dig in and learn that one as well as your Logical Song tab.
Your Pink Floyd covers literally drew me to the world of finger style guitar. Thanks for the great inspiration JAW!
Pink Floyd is where I really developed "my style"...but my love for fingerstyle came out of the classical world. Classical is a bit too rigid/stiff (don't tell the classical guys I said that) but it is the door to fingerstyle. If you get into Tommy's stuff you can shortcut it, but don't discount it, we can all learn a lot from those guys!
I started out playing classical and became addicted to playing on nails. Nails don't last long on steel. Nylon is better for getting feeling out of the strings, steel is all or nothing. I like the extra room on the fretboard with nylon.
There are songs that sound better on steel, but they all sound good on nylon :)
when you started slapping it like a base, you reminded me of "I love you, Man" when they're all messed up having fun saying "slappeh de bass, slapppppeh da bass"
Thank You for your TALENT and Unselfish Sharing of your Videos and ACROBAT sheetmusic of som NAUDO's Genius Complete POLYPHONIC SOUNDING renditions of POPULAR MUSIC.
I don't know about "the best" but I'm one of the few that put up tabs...and I think there should be more of it, nothing worse than seeing someone play a song that you love and there is no tab! What a shame money always ends up coming into it.
I never thought this song would sound any good with a classical guitar... I'm dead wrong... and I'm glad I'm wrong... Sir, you are one cool guitar player!!
Thanks Jam, yeah I feel like I've gotten better. Although when I started solo fingerstyle (thanks for the inspiration Tommy) I was already playing stuff similar to it, so it's like a headstart :) If only I discovered it while I wad young, with all the time in the world!
Yeah, it happens - while working out the song I tab it so I don't forget what I've done, but then it becomes memorised, and then it changes as I practise, but I don't go back to update the tab. But, it's better than nothing eh? Besides, nobody should play a piece *exactly* the same as someone else - use the tab as an initial reference and take the song in your own personal direction ;)
outstanding Jaw another fav of mine do you take requests its cool if you don't i know you must be busy i just i heard a song the other day call Music of the night from Phantom of the opera it would sound grate
where are the pickups? hidden inside the guitar? i see the cord coming from the end. did you get a kit to mod it or did it come like that? my dad wants to put pickups in his acoustic (that is why I ask). thanks in advance jaws.
Yep, pickups inside the guitar, factory gear from Yamaha. You can buy aftermarket pickups and install them, there is bound to be heaps of info on the web about doing it. Good luck!
You'd be able to play it easy AA! I was originally playing it palm muted up against the bridge, which meant that I was strumming the bottom two bass notes which sounds great, but then I found I couldn't get the fast melody, because using two fingers is awkward when palm muting.

That could be easier, since the song is mostly around a root six chord, and play it in D instead of E. I find however when you play in Drop D you need to stretch for G, and G is prominent in this song. Give it a try though!
Exactly. He does a lot of his fills with a slight flick of his second finger, he has finger independence as well as thumb independence! As for his smoothness, that comes because he doesn't need to think about what he is doing ;)
Two pickups - one piezo under the bridge like normal acoustic guitars, another i'm the sound hole, a condensor style. The piezo is good for picking up the fundamental frequencies of string vibration, the condensor is good for picking up the subtler sounds of playing. I usually run a 20% condensor 80% piezo mix.
Excellent! I figure that mostly other guitarists look at my vids, and what could be better than seeing a song you like and here's the Tab! If only everyone could be like that eh? ;) I am getting pretty slack with my tabs though, they aren't as polished as they used to be. Just don't have the time anymore with three young kids.

You'd be able to play it easy AA! I was originally playing it palm muted up against the bridge, which meant that I was strumming the bottom two bass notes which sounds great, but then I found I couldn't get the fast melody, because using two fingers is awkward when palm muting.

What a nice arragement. Hey, just wanna ask. How do you adjust the EQ to be able to get that kind of sound on guitar? Thanks

When I'm playing live amped I will use the built in guitar 3 band EQ, which then goes through reverb, and then onto a 7 level EQ pedal. Not necessarily the right way to do it, but I get a nice sound - I reckon EQ is *the* most important part of getting a good acoustic sound.
For videos, I do it post processing using software but it is essentially the same process.
