i was wondering if this product would work with asus g73jh laptop using a hdmi to dvi cable and the digital version of the triplehead2go? Any information would be helpful. Thank you!
i have a graphics card with 2 outplugs, but i want 3 monitors. can i place the monitor that's not connected to the dualhead2go between the connected ones?
You would have one monitor directly connected to the video card, and the other two monitors connected to the DH2G which would then be connected to the second port on the video card.
ok i really like your video but i still need some help.
i want to be able to connect an acer 23inch monitor as well as a dell 19 inch monitor to my laptop to play WOW. my dell 19 inch works fine for playing wow but i dont have my acer yet. will i have to have this box to run it without lagging? my laptop is a new HP with 4gb of ram an AMD processor of 2.0ghz and a nividea graphics built in..can i run wow on those two monitors without the dual head to go?
It really doesn't matter what brand of card you use. As long as the box gets a good quality signal, it will output a good quality signal. Peace, Fr. Robert
I have an Intel iMac, last o the white ones. I would like to extend my desktop to 3 displays with the dualhead2go. This would be for only desktop use, no games. Would the GMA 950 in my iMac be able to support the high resoloution of the 2 displays on 1 plug?
my laptop has one vga port i want to put a vga splitter then i have 2 vga ports but now i have 4 screens and i want to add 2 Matrox DualHead2Go to each one can it go ??/ plz reply
1280 x 1040 is too small to need this type of adapter. With the Dual-Head-To-Go you would need to find two monitors capable of displaying 640x1040 ---
oh ok thanks for your help! Also what is the real difference between 1440 900 and 1280 1024? one more thing what is the image quality of the screens becuase isnt it streached?
Resolution size is a matter of personal preference. 1440x900 looks great, but I am more accustomed to 1280x1024.
The image quality is limited only by the quality of your monitors. The image itself isn't streched. If you connect two 19" monitors that are capable of 1280x1024, then you get a desktop that can show 2650x1024.
Naw... it's pretty hard to offend me, and I'm not adverse to having people point out when I'm wrong. --- I with avoid all future niche-nitch confusions in the future! :) Peace, FR
Only if the game that you are playing supports the higher resolution. To the game, two or three monitors connected through a Dual or Triplehead to Go look like a single monitor. If the game doesn't support the higher resolution, and if your card can't drive it, then it will not do anything.
Hi , i have a pci-express card at moment by ati...i use catalyst control panel to interface with it..If i buy a pci card(not necessarily matrox) could i get the same effect as the triple head to go?i.e. if i run the two cards in tandem..i cant help thinking there is another way with this triplehead2go...they seem so overpriced too...i mean the dual head basically is redundant if u have 2 monitor ports on a graphics card
Absolutley --- You could use a multi-card setup to do the same thing. However, using a PCI card will KILL video performance, as will using 2 PCIe cards in non-SLI mode. The thing to remember is that the DHTG and THTG are card independent. This means that if you ever replace your card, you keep the T/DHTG unit.
Good review. I love my THTG and use 3 x 22" wide screen LCD's. Would have preferred a DVi model but it still rocks. I recommend this item to anyone wanting truly awesome gaming. See my vids for examples. Cheers CelticLight
Brad... thanks for the comment! --- Yes there are several internal Matrox cards that do the same thing --- In fact, there is a "Quad Head" from Matrox that could theoretically allow you to connect a total of 12 MONITORS to your computer. (One THTG on each DVI output) --- However, the DHTG and THTG gives you the flexibility of using them with laptops
--- They are also INDEPENDENT of the graphics card... meaning that you can upgrade your graphics card and keep your DH/THTG and monitor setup exactly AS IS.
I have the THTG and I can honestly say that it is awesome and worth every penny. Even thought I am only running it at 1024x768 per monitor, HL2 and WoW have run nicely with it.
Enjoyed your review of it, and glad that you think its worth spending the money for it too. :)
TKT --- I'm glad that you enjoyed the review... I certainly enjoyed making it! The DH/THTG are members of that group of products that make you say, "why didn't somebody try something like this before?!?!"
Actually, my desktop has 4 DVI outputs. (Two PCIe slots) However, just because I COULD do it doesn't mean that I could AFFORD to do it! That's a whole lot of monitors to go around! --- And remember, you'd probably want to stack them, so I would need to fabricate some kind of mounting system.
Awesome show. If only I could afford another 19" monitor, I'd get the DH2G; that would be awesome... Thanks again for the show :). I question however; If you had the DH2G set up and were playing a FPS wouldn't the crosshair be in the middle, thus spread over to screens, with a gap - I expect I would find it quite hard to play like that.
Well, for serious gaming, I would get the TH2G, that way, the crosshairs would be dead center on the middle monitor and the other two monitors could provide "peripheral vision"
Yes... but for gaming, I would definitely recomend the THTG - It may cost a little more, but at ~$700 for a 3840 x 1024 monitor is pretty good. That's the equivalant of a 45" Widescreen monitor!
$300 for a 19" monitor? Where are you buying it? I can get a fast (6ms) 19" monitor for $150 after rebates. Three of those and the adapter would be $700. That's less than a 24" monitor, 1/3 more desktop space, and you get that cool 'wraparound' feel of three monitors.
But remember that this setup would actually be BIGGER than a 24" monitor. There's also the fact that three monitors can wrap around the user, leading to a more immersive feel.
I use the TH2G for CS. It works GREAT... it's even better than when I was using a 24" LCD. The great thing is that three 19" monitors are 1/2 the cost of a decent 24"
The annoyance of the gap really depends on the monitor. If you have two of those thin bezel screens, the gap isn't all that noticable. If you have thick borders, yeah... I could see that getting distracting.
Dude, change the sticker on your laptop already. Maybe you can get the guys at Jynx to give you enough to change them each episode. I'm tired of looking at the same one every week.
FINALLY! Something that I would actually want to buy! Good job on this episode, and I love the background. It's much nicer than the plain tin roof panels.

@blacknowledge187,
It's input agnostic. As long as you can give it the resolution it needs, you're golden.

sorry for all thequestions but how do you know if the moniter can work with the dual head2go?
1MACUSER1 3 years ago
All monitors that have a VGA port and are using the VESA standard can work with dual head2go. (That's almost all LCD panels)

oh thanks alot man

Could you tell me what where the moniters you used in your review of the dual head 2 go those looked nice what was the res you were running?

I was using 2 x 19" Samsung monitors @ 1280 x 1024 each.

does this have the ability to do 1280 1040 ? its fine if you dont know.

COuld the dual head 2 go run two 19inch dells in 1440 * 900???
1MACUSER1 3 years ago
Yes, but you would be scaling down the resolution... are you sure you want to do that? Doing so can lead to unwanted artifacting.

AWESOME!
It has the same expanded desktop that my ATI All-in-Wonder does (dual-screen).
But, in gaming, does it actually widen your "field of view?"
