  • EXCELENTE VIDEO INEDITO. QUE FELIZ ME HA HECHO. RECORDAR ES VIVIR

  • Cool vid!

  • They were all in their teens. I saw them in 1980 in Houston, I remember the gig well because a guy had fallen out of the balcony and landed in the seats five feat from me. I was like 13 years old or something and I was like "wow, so this is waht a rock concert is all about". I just thought that stuff happened all the time. Blackfoot headlined, and although they blew away Def Leppard, the young dudes did hold their own.

  • Little known fact, Rick Allen was 15 when this was filmed.

  • @d14d

that's really amazing ... at 15 Rick already beat the drum in such s focus state ..

  • I was 4yrs old when this came out, but I still remember hearing this song on the radio..... I had my dad get this album so I could listen to it anytime I wanted..... that and my mom got tired of me repeating the same part over and over again.

  • Great album! High n dry all time great ROCK Album then they sold out.

  • I MISS THE OLD DEF LEPPARD,BEFORE PYROMANIA

  • excelent video

  • I saw these guys open for Blackfoot in Denver at the old Rainbow. It was a double show and Blackfoot screwed them by having them open the first show at 7:00 and then close the second show at about midnight. They were royally pissed off but played an incredible second show anyway! I wish they had stayed with the harder rock of their first album but I don't think they have any regrets!

  • Awesome!!!! thank you for posting this video!!

  • 2 dislikes??? Must be fans of Pour Some Sugar On Me, and Love Bites!!!!!!

  • Yeah I remember my friend tought me that riff and figured out the rest.He Snatched that guitar out of my hands...literally!!!!!Now I OWN that Gibson.backin 1983 I believe, knuck knuck

  • Great song. I love the UFO influence.

  • I can't believe I never saw this video they look sooo young especially Steve Clark:)

  • @scoobydoolover14 can you believe these guys are the same who recorded love bites? (except pete willis

  • @hellojimmypage Love Bites is my favorite too (Love it!!!)

  • @scoobydoolover14 WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!! love bites is the gayest-most cheesy song ever, are you kidding?

  • @hellojimmypage seems like someone misunderstood you xD

  • @norcico yeah i know that gay song is very popular among silly romantic kids

  • @hellojimmypage you just hate being reminded of me, the silly romantic kid :'D

  • @norcico oh yes ehm xD in fact you never listened this song cos you only know the popular comercial stuff after "high n' dry" bah...

  • @hellojimmypage oh, yes... teach me Master! ^^

  • @norcico ANSWER TO THE MASter, another great song from the first album

  • @hellojimmypage answer to me on msn you fool xD :D and send the vid:D

  • @norcico sorry i got offline ,only if you keep sending me more pics of you naked :P

  • @hellojimmypage ok, now i'm mad -.-'

  • @norcico yes shut up this is not t her ight place to fight with me,HAIL LEPPARD!! (until 1983,of course)

  • @hellojimmypage forget about me for a while -.-

  • Wow! I pride myself on being an ultimate Def Leppard fan and I am shocked that I have NEVER seen or heard this!! WoWW!

  • @CadenceStarrr You don't have the On Through the Night Album? How could you be the ultimate Def Leppard fan?

  • @sabrinapeepers69

aww, dont be so mad old lady. my dog says he wont hump your leg because he is afraid it will turn to dust.

  • anyone want a good laugh at a shit band--check out summerseve and frightningus--they think they sound like musicians!enjoy the sounds of cats being burned

  • Fucking hell! what kind of coked out lunatic queer did def leppard hire to dress them for this video? What the fuck is that vest joe elliots wearing? whats up with steve clarks rainbow suit? also check out my band, click on the blue word to your left and you can hear some of our songs, we likes the deffy leppard.

  • @SummerAndLightningUS I don't know who dressed them but I do know that they were all hugely influenced by the glam scene, especially bands like Mott the Hoople,Slade and David Bowie.Maybe this was an attempt to look "glam" at first which they thankfully gave up on.

  • I LOVE THE SONG , AND I AM LOOKING FOR" welcome to paradise" AS WELL

  • I remember buying this album when it first came out,and along with the first Iron Maiden album, being totally blown away.Leppard was a frontrunner in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal along with Maiden,Angelwitch,Samson,Saxon,Diamond Head, etc. No matter what they turned into later on,they are a very important band in the history of metal.I saw them open for Billy Squier on their first American tour and they were amazing live.A HUGE thanks to the person who uploaded these old videos!

  • @TheProgtologist well said and very true

  • @TheProgtologist my mom told me her first concert was that same Squier/Leppard tour in MA. NWOBHM is awesome. i love this sound of Def Leppard (and their later sound) and Maiden and Saxon is SOOO underrated!

  • @TheProgtologist Saw that same show. Irvine Meadows. They were the whole reason I ever got into playing music!!!

  • This is the sound that Def Lepp should have kept, shame it went all american, big sound, big hair after that!!..

  • Metal shoulderpads, metal harmonies, metal guitar mmmmetal!

  • @mikemcpeak714 I think it was great through Hysteria, but then - blah!

  • I didn't know there were any pre-1980 Def Leppard vedios out there!

    Thanks!

  • Very cool. Huge leppard fan . Never saw this!!

  • this is not the same recording done on the first record, it was done before. by the way, if yer bored and want to check out a track from our band, click on the blue word on the left, its brand new just put it up

  • @SummerAndLightningUS I enjoyed it !your right, i was bored until I checked out your video. But why would your band want to see me screw your girl?and your right again--brand new just put out(i mean up)new video.although it might also be boring, these fans have seen this time and time again-with your girl with me,def leppard, the guy down the street,etc.,etc.,HAHAHAHA

  • @sabrinapeepers69 You sound more "wasted" than steven clark and pete willis put together. And id you want to get with my girlfriend you will have to 1. get in line 2. go to the doctor to get your skanky old lady pussy checked for herpes first.

  • duuude his voice sounds a little like old robert plant (today robert plant)

  • happy birthday rick<3

  • love you sav <3 happy birthday !

  • ha ha pete's wearing clothes that would make ace frehley sit up and take notice! and he has a Ramones haircut! lol

  • Thanks for uploading this. Def Leppard was great before Hysteria, and never the same band since, unfortunately. This really takes me back.

  • saw these guys open for ac/dc highway to hell tour at leicester de montford hall, excellent band back then but got ruined when they hit big in the states, ,,overture, ride into the sun, wasted, ..classic stuff

  • Dude, Rick Allen (assuming this was before November of '79) wouldn't even be 16!

  • I love the first two discs. I play the Shit out of "Mirror Mirror (Look Into My Eyes)." Best tune on HND.

  • Flying V bass > all

    hahaha

  • Priceless! I first saw Leppard open for Nugent in 1980. We all bought those black World Tour t-shirts. I don't think a day went by for the next 5 years that one of us wasn't wearing that shirt! I probably saw them 30 more times in the 80's.

I've been exposed to a lot of great music in the last 25 years but I whenever I listen to On Through the Night and High N Dry it still sounds great. I'm sure we've all moved on musically but man was this wonderful music to grow up with. RIP Steve.

  • Look at those clothes. What were they thinking?

  • Best Def Leppard song ever.

  • Their first album and "High and Dry" were their best albums IMO.

  • They look more like glam rockers than NWOBHM rockers but I guess they did draw a lot if influence from glam rock

  • hahaha dragonscale armor

  • rockin young lads back then

  • Rick Savage has always been beautiful. Pete Willis was amazing! And Steve Clark was the man!

  • thats a sweet ass flying v bass sav has

  • Believe me when I say that back in 80 when this album first came out it WAS NOT a failure, all of us into metal/rock had this album. Leppard along with Maiden, Saxon, Priest etc.... were leading the charge as far as the NWOBHM went. I saw them at the Oxford Apollo back in March/April 80 and they were 'kin Brilliant.

  • @Hadite84 Exactly. Everyone saying that this album was a dud simply wasn't around back then. Best thing DL ever did

  • they were totally ziggy stardust, sweet!

  • Saw them on this tour, their first (I believe) tour of the U..S. The date: July, 1980. The venue: Checkerdome, St. Louis, Mo. The bill (in order of appearance): Def Leppard touring for On Through the Night, Scorpions touring for Animal Magnetism, Ted Nugent touring for Scream Dream (Wango Tango Tour). I was 15 years old, my second real concert. Long live rock-n-roll.

  • OMG...were they really THAT young! Thank you for sharing this! Nice pants Joe! Very revealing! lol

  • Wolvo civic 79 not that long ago!

  • Eh.....you gotta start somewhere.

  • Thanks for posting! Never seen this before. They are miming to the single release of the song, which was recorded before the debut album. They did some awesome sessions on the Friday Rock Show in 1979 and I eagerly awaited the album, but the production was very poor and it was a massive let-down. Still, they more than made up for it with High 'n Dry.

  • Nice clothes :-P

  • Their very first single!!! They've changed, and they're still FRICKIN AWESOME!!!!! XD

  • This song should end EVERY concert that Def Leppard does for the encore, AC/DC would never do a show and ignore HIghway to Hell. Def Leppard and Joe Elliott in particular forgets where it all started.

  • I think all these Pete Willis-loving comments are being posted by Pete using multiple youtube accounts... this is quite clearly a Steve Clark jam (writing credit, main riff, solo, as most of the killer jams were (Let It Go, Switch 625, etc) and yet you seem to think Pete is the most beautiful boy you've ever seen... credit where credit is due, people.

  • The drummer was still in elementary school in this vid,he had to get a note from his mom to play this gig.

  • @SmittyHeWasNumber1 and way ahead of his time...how old was Rick? 15? 16?

  • which one? Rick Savage or Rick Allen?

  • @monsterpistol2000 Rick Allen

  • Awesome video, I loved it when they were a Rock band & not a Pop band, long live Pete & Steve.

  • fucking AWESOME!!! nothing left to say!

  • This was my favorite Def Leppard album. It is a shame they never play any of this music live.

  • 109Thunder..This was their best album...so many songs on this have been re-done by other bands..after Pryo..It was over......

  • saw them on their 1980 tour, opening for Judas Priest and Scorpions. Pretty fuckin' sick!

  • Wow, hilarious outfits, even for Def Lep!!

    Amazing song!

  • the failure was yours

  • Its hard to see the guys like this! Not used to them looking so young! lol

  • One of the MOST underated albums EVER

  • They never speak of this song or the the album. It was a total failure.

  • @109Thunder you obviously missed the 2003 tour

  • @109Thunder You know I was just thinking of an old interview where Joe was saying this was the worst stuff they ever released because of the boozing. In my opinion this stuff is what defines Def, not Pour some shit on me.

  • @109Thunder are you fucking kidding me,this album was awesome dumbass!

  • are you fucking kidding me,this album was awesome dumbass!

  • @109Thunder

And yet, it has some of the coolest songs to come out of that era/genre.

  • @109Thunder . That is what your parents say about YOU. Failure.

  • Def Leppard is amazingg <3<3

  • Great hard rock band that released 2 LP's worth listening to, first 2.

Then they became MTV darlings, poured sugar all over their music and became CACA. Best tune: Wasted.

Saw them open for JPriest on their 1st US tour, 79' and could relate to kids on stage rockin' their asses off. That nite after the show, met Pete while at a rock bar (The Old Buffalo- El Paso, TX), he was getting a pack of smokes from a machine, went up to him n chatted him up, very cool lad. Still have these 2 vinyls \m/

  • Great stuff!!

    It's a nice work.

  • This is great but why are you always saying that DL with Pete was the only real deal? Come on, he couldn't play with them anymore so they fired him and hired Phil. He's much better and they wrote a lot of good stuff with him. If you'd say that DL without Steve is worse, I'd say yes. Steve was the spirit of this band!

  • Leppard were such a brilliant band ca. 79 thru '81 - everything after that paled in comparison. Thanks for posting this gem.

  • Def Leppard Didn't Find The Sound Yet Back Then ... Listen To The First Two Albums You'll Know What I Mean! ... The Pyromania Album ... Is When They Got It Made! ... I Heart DEFLEPPARD!

  • I wonder if Pete gets any income from the old stuff?

  • @bigblock31 Yes Pete gets paid for the songs he co-wrote while in the band. He has been quoted in interviews as saying he has done quite well for himself from those albums.

  • @bigblock31 I hope so ,he wrote most of the stuff on Pyromania

  • @bigblock31 isnt he dead?

  • @esotericeric93 Not that I know of....im sure it would have been on VH1 Classic.

  • @esotericeric93 Alive and well, not dead.

  • @esotericeric93 No, Pete's not dead. He's selling real estate in Sheffield, England. Plus, he plays with a band called Atomic Mass. (No, not Def Leppard before their band name was Def Leppard)

  • @esotericeric93 Steve Clark passed away. Pete is still alive.

  • @bigblock31 On the VH1 show That Metal Show they said he was in real estate-which means he's probably broke!!

  • God--I get chills every time I see him play

Wish he still rocked like this

It always gives me a lift! Watching Pete

  • Pete Willis! This is the REAL Def Leppard!

  • yes and the last line-up if the band had stayed with Pete as guitarist.

  • yes and the last line-up if the band had stayed with Pete as guitarist.

  • First band I ever saw live backing up AC/DC (the real one that is with Bon!) at the Hammy Odeon in '79. so impressed we went to see them shortly afterwards in their own right at the Marquee Club. Right up the front singing 'we hate the mods' Joe Elliott came out and joined in. Great Days.. Bought the single Wasted, much better version than the Album. B-side Hello America is also a better version.

  • Охуенно!

    кхм..

    Awesome

  • yeah, when rock was young.....

  • @wanawjecy When rock was far better!!!

  • @wanawjecy When rock was far better!!!

  • omg. best video of all time.

  • Seven Witches plays this tune and it rocks!!!!!!!!

  • this song and the solo reminds me of REO Speedwagon,

  • Ya know this stuff is more remembered than their sissyboy love songs, Too bad Mutt Lange turned them into this......

  • For some reason, the way they're dressed reminds me of the band Queen.

  • @Aquacrystal2 probably because they were influenced by Queen along with most rock bands of the 70s.

  • wolvo civic with magnum and jameston raid .....:)

  • yeah you've got to feel a little bad for Pete Willis. Even though him exiting the band in turn made them have all the key players in line for arena rock massive success...i (but then the debate would be what would Pyrmoania / Hysteria have been like with Pete Willis / Mutt Lange producing. I dont know. he just seemed to have such an energy and chemistry with steve clark. we will never know what would have been!

  • @andinthedistance oh to clear up my comment i meant mutt lange producing while pete willis was in the band as lead guitar.

  • Pretty cool clip from the early days; sure did appear to be an up and coming, hungry rock and roll band here. They got a bit too polished on a lot of their later stuff for my tastes. At least now I know where the idea for the puffy shirt on Seinfeld came from:)

  • YES YES WILLIS era HARDER sound & DIRTIER lyrics , what dreams are made of!!!

  • this is like the only time they ever got "dressed up"

  • This was the good Def Leppard, mofos'

  • later versions were much better

  • nobody in the world to date has made a gibson RAZOR sing the way Steve did. OLD SCHOOL Def Leppard made me want to pick up a guitar. This group is one of the world's greatest treasures. This band never gets the attention & glory deserving them. Many bands have stopped for less then this group of freinds have gone though.

  • people say that Eddie Van Halen or Carlos Santana or Jimi Hendrix are the best guitar players in the world. well i say STEPHEN MAYNARD CLARK is the best guitar player EVER!!!!!!

  • Steve Clark and Joe Elliot!

  • Def Leppard was really awesome with Pete Willis on guitar.
