  • i think docotr who should use this as their theme music except make it "i just took a ride in a blue police box"

i <3 the ukulele orchestra of great britain

  • Fucking class.

  • Another great piece of music by UOGB. But oh my, they look so tired...

  • Finally managed to listen to this with quality headphones. The bass at the beginning is brilliant.

  • 4:05 what a place to stop

  • 7 people must be nickelback fans

  • Love to have from 2:09-2:31 as my mobile ring tone

  • This makes me want to air strike a nazi stronghold.

  • raise your hand if you were half expecting them to sing.

"Kill da wabbit, kill da wabbit, kill da WABBIT!!................"

  • Could Wagner have even imagined this in Germany in those days ?

  • Wonderful... Why did you play "Sweet child o´mine" ???

    Congratulations...

Gostei muito, poderiam tocar Sweet child o´mine do guns...

    Fabien from Brazil...

  • I'm trying to find a video clip that unfortunately I don't remember the name of the song or exactly how it begins but it ends with everyone playing the same ukulele (Kitty's) until Kitty comes back, gives them all a withering look and takes her ukulele back. I saw it once, didn't think to keep it and now can't find it again. I'm relatively sure that that there was no background, just blackness. At least that narrows it down a bit!! :):)

    thanks

  • @nextlifearotti The track you are looking for is Orange Blossom. Try typing in UOGB + Orange Blossom, but you can browse to it from this video.

  • @junkers290 thanks so much... yep that's it. I just love the look on Kitty's face!! I wonder how long they had to practise to get that down right. thanks again!!

  • They must not have a life! Omg I laughed to hard!

  • @Bebe12232 No life? they're sitting playing infront of a massive audience in a theater, your sitting at your computer talking shit on youtube......i suggest to reassess your life.

  • @Bebe12232 dont you mean they have a talent?, please practise the phrase "would you like fries with that?"

  • I'd go along with bipolarbert. Lemmy would approve. Nice they got the lyrics right too!

  • Is there anything better than the Ukes?

  • @PRR5406 Nukes?

  • I bet Lemmy of Hawkwind loves this version !

  • p.s. kills the Pistols version.

  • Hester is lovely. Sigh.

  • what's the title of the original song?

  • @bluesadclown

    Hawkwind - Silver Machine

or the classical piece at the beginning:

Richard Wagner - Ride of the Valkyries

You can find it in the infobox by the way. ;)

  • @HjerteknustMusiker

;-P sori didnt notice the infobox

  • This is the most wonderful thing I've been turned onto on youtube for a while. Thanks!!

  • love to have the change as a ringtone

  • An old musical instrument from Madeira, Portugal named "Cavaquinho".

  • Please, ukes, can you make my life complete by recording your version of "Ace of Spades"? Thank you!

  • @marked54 . . . with Hester on lead vocals . . .

  • Pure entertainment :)

  • i was in a room, but then it exploded from the level of awesome coming from the screen

  • never heard of them before tonight.... just booked tickets to see em in my home town this month!

  • Brilliant!

  • Ukulele BASS?????

  • @AreaQNH870

    Ayup.

A buddy and I were lucky to attend one of their concerts last month.

Needless to say the Ukes rocked!!!

That buddy has been playing bass guitar for nearly 30 years and I trust his judgement,

when he said it was defintely a ukulele bass.

We took a closer look at the instrument during the break between the 2 sets.

The soundbox was smaller and the scale length shorter than what you get with a normal acoustic bass.

  • Awesome.....

  • Gotta love the smell of ukuleles by the morning

  • Much better than Hawkwind. Makes you proud to be British.

  • David, Peter, Hester, George, Richie, Kitty, Will, and Jonty, you absolutely rock.. Everything I have heard you do is awesome.. You are legends.. :)

  • hahahahaha excellent stuff pmsl was these guys and gals found on a "britains got talent" type of show or x factor anyone know lol theyr brilliant especialy phyco killer and silver machine cool stuff

  • verry coooooooooooooool

    thanks for posting

  • huge smile...i have got to see these people perform

  • One of the best bands I've seen in a long time. Brilliant musicians who haven't got their heads stuck up their own arses.

  • first-class

  • Oh... yes...

  • incredible...

  • If they'd perform near where I live... Like either Dothan, or Montgomery, Alabama, I'd love to attend their performances... Sure... they are scheduled to appear in New York this year... But New Your is WAY TOO FAR AWAY for me to consider going to hear them!!! If in Florida, I'd drive as far as maybe Tampa to see them...

  • @rcmodelr well color me stunned, I just got back from Troy! And while I was there day after day, I tried to become enriched...I came prepared...notes and googleearthacles and yet...if there was jollyity to be jugglled,..funny saw i none. And the area is so rich in texture (etc.). Baseball and church baseballandchurch baseballandchurch. Saw the art gallery and the jailhouse. I'd like to see it again. please respond, i"m bored. there is no Pacino here.

  • All their covers work because they do it seriously. Who would have gone from Ride of the Valkyries into silver machine, pure genius. Hugely entertaining.

  • it's amazing how they can keep those serious face playing on those small instruments.

  • These people are amazing, can't wait to see them live again this summer at the Cambridge Folk Festival!

  • greatest thing i've seen/heard since they did 'La freak'

  • aareally lonely anyone up for cam chat or phone

  • next year we expecting you at LEICESTER!!

  • Wunderbar!

    :-D

    Greets from Lower-Saxony!

  • Excellent,, hadn't seen this one before. Okay,,, I gotta ask, what happened to Jonty's hair?.... run outta Brylcreem maybe :)))))

  • I believe that is the look of a man who has run a hand through his hair and not checked in a mirror afterward!

  • I thought Music had reached its zenith with UOGBs Wuthering Heights, Life on Mars and Good Bad and Ugly...apparently not!

  • @edwardianeccentric That's the beauty of music; it lives and you never know when an when someone will come to change the entire landscape of possibilities.

  • Wagner would probably tip over if he heard this but I think it is marvelous.

  • Absolutely Brilliant

  • I Love this and won't rest till I have the DVD!

  • Some people will do anything to get attention. :-)

    Nicely done.

  • These are the A-string UOGB players. When a few of these regulars are substituted there is a noticeable difference.

The UOGB and the Reentrants must have inspired many people to take up the ukulele.

Their talent brings a lot of attention to the versatility of the ukulele.

    Thanks for posting!

  • made me take the Uke up!

  • About time that the Albert Hall finally had some music.

  • Simply glorious!

  • Rock,... classical,... folk, pick the genre,... they do it all with incredible perfection. Wish they'd tour the States..... I will be watching for em....

  • ..FANTASTIC... ,who needs keyboards when you can make whooshing noises with your mouth..Hawkwind would be proud..lol...good work guys..

  • The UOGB are still (rather worryingly) one of my favourite groups/bands/collectives/orchestras of all time. I love it :)

  • oops... "orchestras" really didn't need a space in
