@LilithSapphire They are the same species, variety doesn't affect how they treat each other. I've always kept a mixed lot, whether they get along depends on individual rats. It likely wouldn't hurt to add another rat so the PEW isn't singled out, this is best done with young rats (6-8wks)

As for fights, it's normal for rats to have scraps like this(more so when they are 6-10 months old), they are just reaffirming their social statuses. It's all good if they're not ripping holes in each other.

Ah where did you buy their cage? I have two female rats who live in a tank. Since my youngest one is a small rat she can easily squeeze out the cages with the horizontal bars. I've been looking for a squared bared cage like yours, but my pet stores don't carry any :P I really want to buy they a bigger cage and give them more room to run and climb, but I can't. Not till I find the appropriate cage :[

If they are all male...they are actually battling to become the dominate rat of the colony. If they do it everyday....no one has won yet. When they pause touching noses, thats called boxing. And when one rolls onto his back, its to protect it from being nipped. Once one rat is able to bite the rump of all the other rats in the colony...he is dominate male. Interesting. My two males are going through the same ordeal.

I've got a one year old rat named Vergil. Well I have and sell rats, and I also have a cat, just have your cge in a secure spot were if cant get knocked down, and also, get a rat ball, so they can run around your house in a little ball, its actually pretty funny, and that way they can be safe, also, you CAN teach your rat to befriend your cat, but it takes time, dogs are no probelem either, my dogs best friend is my rat, and my dads rat wuld ride on his dogs back!
