@elswick1542 i will be in Northumberland on Nov 4 or 5th going to Loch Ness staying there over night with my girlfriend from Chorley at her friends house. P.S. Do not tell my russian born wife or its kaput for me
@jers59 Old saying in Northumberland(70 miles from Scotland were I live)"If you fancy a holiday and Siberia is fully booked try Scotland" You won,t see a monster in Lock ness its just a tourist magnet but careful of the one back home if you get caught!
@elswick1542 I do not believe in UFO,s, loch Ness monster, organized religion, big foot, kennedy assination conspiracy, 9/11 conspiracy. I visited siberia in 1996 on trip to Russia when russian bankers had the most dangerous job in the world what are some good pubs in Northumberland? PS why do scots wear kilts? Because sheep can hear zippers, Im part irish, and scot one half loves to drink the other half does not want to pay, also some welsh and english, just typical mutt
@jers59 Good pubs in all the smaller rural towns villages such as Alnwick,Hexham,Warkworth stay clear of the post industrial places in the south such as Ashington. My personal fav is the Prince of Wales at the fish quay Tynemouth very good traditional pub with Samuel Smiths beer from £1.54 pint(any UK pub run by this brewery appeals to those of Scots decent)Roman remains and Medieval castles, wet, windy, sparse populated.
I agree about organised religion stopped believing in that bull about the same time as the tooth fairy, father xmas etc I find the 9/11 conspiracy lot repellent, even Oswald's half brother thinks he shot Kennedy but I have a particular and extreme dislike for those that claim some of my earliest memories are a lie,Apollo.
@elswick1542 British imperial pint is larger then US pint I will stay away from scotish cuisine haggis I was in London in may drank local brew called village idiot was good, mostly drinking ciders now woodpecker
@jers59 Also avoid the other famous delicacy deep fried Mars bars in batter(I kid you not).Try Bulmers Cider availible in most bars in pint bottles, drink it in a pint glass half full of ice.
Just back from Melrose in the borders Belhaven 80 shiling Ale is first class.
@elswick1542 Just came home, never made it to North Umberton stayed at Loch Lomond, then to Loch Ness for 2 days and Inverness and Cumberton battlefield, nice ride up the highlands along the 82 , saw the fried mars bars avoided them along with Haggis they have scottish beer I purchased at cumberton called sheep shaggers, back to work on 23
@jers59 You got away with it then!Sheep Shagger sounds like a Welsh beer, will have to try it some time, most real ale is not good at travelling give it a rest in the fridge for a few days to get the best out of it.Hope you enjoyed your trip, sounds like you did.
@elswick1542 good video on Victorious called HMS Victorious 1 of 2 seems to be from early 1960,s or late 50,s, back to arguing on 16 inch gun training video.
@ToonandBBfan Funny thing before you sent me the link I was reading an old book called the British Navy in Battle by Arthur Pollen of fire control fame(or infamy) he rote it at the time of the events, published in 1919,best part by far is the Konigsburg battle. Its a free PDF file,on Google IIR.

nice video as always, emden, konigsberg, karlsruhe, and the east asiatic squadron did not last long but did the imperial german navy proud.
it is that old saying, you judge yourself by the quality of your enemy.

Great video - Thanks
The German 4.1 inch gun was a very good weapon for its size.
Believe it or not, it could actually out-range some 6 inch guns!!!
The Royal navy certainly put some effort into destroying Konigsberg
Thanks again

A forgotten battle.
Nearly no German knows anything about the German activities in Africa. Some remember the name Lettow- Vorbeck, that´s all.
The photos of the destroyed Königsberg remind a bit of the smashed Emden.
Excellent work, my friend.
