Kristian: your performance also shows evidence of research by you into the autograph manuscript, first edition and other editions, and carefully thought out musicological and interpretative decisions.
Hey wow ! the passage at 6:45 to 7:03 was perfect !! Not to say that other passages were not perfect, also. Kristian, I hope you present the Liszt Sonata as the major piece for your 40 minute recital at the next Sydney International Piano Competition. I hope you compete at that competition and look forward to hearing you then. Your video shows you as a model for calmness, posture and relaxation at the keyboard.
I listened again, this is one of my favorite pieces of piano music. Love your playing, but I suggest you listen closely to Kissin's version, particularly the final chords, which much be breathlessly ethereal, spiritual, hopeful, redemptive. They must simply materialize, as if being heard from afar.
A beautiful performance! The two major "horror stretches" (with the contrary motion leaps) were perfectly executed. The Scherzo/Fugue was very Mephistophelian in a controlled way. The start of the slow movement could have been more ethereal. Thanks for the Klindworth D natural. [one!] As a previous commentator has noted your relaxed demeanour at the keyboard is impressive. Your voicing of the three final chords seemed unusual but maybe this is a recording issue. Tempo relationships excel.
@gerardbedecarter Kristyian: Was your decision to play the D sharp then the Klindworth D natural based on a compormise you reached or based on a recording you may have heard!
You have so many colors in your tone. Use of the pedals is very well thought out. The patterned, recurring alternations of contrasting elements of sound is special, while not becoming obvious. Your playing has become much more subtle. This is maturing art at work! Congrats to you, and your teachers.
The kid is playing difficult compositions, with the greatest of ease,in a very relaxed manner. The is playing a seasoned pro!!! He should be touring all of the world, playing with major orchestras, and giving solo concerts!!!! Is that in his agenda??? Oh yeah, will he start recording on EMI?? Sombody inform me!!!! Does anybody know anything about this kid's musical background/history?? Again, inform me,please!!!!!!!!
Among the things I admire about your playing are, first, the beautiful quality of the sound you produce; and, second, your quiet, relaxed demeanor at the keyboard. You are without question a major artist in the making.
UncleNathan: You couldn't have said it better. Kristian has a great sound, unlike others who play so harshly. Hearing him play this so well makes me want to play it again. Maybe I'll post my own version in the near future. His piano looks just like mine.
I have also been looking forward to some new videos and I'm so glad you posted this! I love this Sonata - it is one of my favorites. Wonderful job as always =) May you have a wonderful New Year =)
Bon... Quelques maladresses mais c super dans l'ensemble, tu as vraiment beaucoup à dire!! Bravo

The Friedeim/Liszt Sonata roll? I'm sorry Kristian. A "y" crept into my spelling of your Christian name in my previous comment..
