@yougonasorry have you thought about opening it up and cleaning the dust that may be trapped in the fan? Sometimes there is a little pouch in the plastic around the fan that causes the fan to trap dust in it. Maybe you could get a laptop cooling pad also. just a suggestion. your lucky you have such a nice laptop even though you have that little problem. :P
Take off the cover underneath and blow out the fan. I literally press my lips against the exhaust vent and blow out the dust. No more overheating for a while! (Depending on how much dust is in your house)
I love my M1530 Mines black though, except the fan is placed in the shittiest place so I have to support it to keep it cool. Other then that its an amazing laptop. I wanted the m1730 though.
Dell is one of the most reliable computer makers. I've been using Dells, and other brands like Toshiba, HP, and Apple for years and have never had a problem with them.
I have one of these. really good laptop plays all the games i want it to play. i did have an overheating problem but i found out it was to do with a loose connection, to fix this just take off all the back panels without taking the whole back off of it, then disconnect everything you can and reconnect it. also give it a clean from dust. and your done overheating stops. :)well it did with me :)

What i done was that i took the whole back panel off and disconnected every component that i could, i found that my ram card was slighly loose, i took both out and plugged them back in and from then on i can play games for hours :D

This computer isn't good for the high end gamer. I play a lot of RTS, and FPS. Needless to say, I get very low FPS for all games. Maybe the 1730 is better, but I do not know. The 1530 sure doesn't have a lot of power. 2.1 GHz isn't enough for the games I play. I need better power. I'd stick to a desktop. But since I am going to college I had to get a computer. Unfortunately, I got a "below average" computer. Oh well.
No matter the item, Dell lacks SUPPORT. The idiots they outsource the technical support is a shameless group, in my case,they could not re-install MS XP software and I mean from excutive down to lowly position. I was subjected to a Window Vista with 1 GB of memory, even a fool knows Vista does not operate well and had a fruitless fight trying to get my hardware replaced. They make em all right, but support and integrity NEVER. LET THE BUYER BEWARE!!
and the mother fucker gets hot as hell and if you are not careful it will over heat and no one wants that. So if you do bye it you should also get a dock/cooling station.
im getting a dell studio 17 laptop. its had Core 2 duo 2.0 cpu 4gb ram ddr2 256 mb Ati 3650 320 gb hard drive ram Windows vista 32 bit And the student package with all ms office all for 1300 grand. u would be able to play cod4 dont know about 5 , and crysis is very demanding, ati 3650 is average graphic card, far from good one for gaming, the other one is higher level of it, if u want to play games go for the second comp and upgrade ram, btw its 64 bit and many games and programs dont support it
lol 4 gigs of ram on 32 bit vista is useless dude, vista 32-bit only utilizes 2.5 gbs of RAM tops the rest is allocated to other parts of the comp, ur wasting money if you get 4 gb without 64-bit vista
That's a good one. I hear they are having probs with NVidia 8s so make sure you check for updates to the BIOS (to run the cooling fan more) and get a mobo monitoring program to make sure your temps are not rising.
i already have my own m1330... the only problem with this laptop is that whenever the cord is plug out, the brightness of the screen usually gets darker... i didnt expect to be as dark as wat i thought... so basically, everytime i use my laptop... i just plug the cord into the outlet to keep the brightness better... im pretty satisfied with my laptop though...
You know you can adjust the brightness with the function keys right? Hold fn and press the up or down arrows. You can also stop it going dark at all by changing the preferences in Windows.

Try adjusting the brightness manually with the Fn keys, and max brightness on battery should be the same as max brightness on AC power. If it's not then I guess there's probably something wrong.
Go into the BIOS (hold F2 at startup), there's a setting there under power management or something like that. You need to increase the brightness level for battery setting to maximum. If you don't then the Fn+Arrow Up will only allow half brightness on battery alone. If you need more help just ask me. I got my M1330 recently and was a little worried about this until I was looking through the BIOS and found the setting. Save the changes in the BIOS when exiting and don't play with other settings!

First, switch off the laptop. Then turn it on. Then immediately press F2 and hold it down until the computer goes into BIOS (it's a big blue screen with menus). Use the arrows to go down "Video", press enter. Press the down arrow to go to brightness. Enter into brightness, press the right arrow to increase brightness to 8. Then press enter again. Then press ESC and choose "Exit Saving Changes". It's easier than it sounds! You might want to print these instructions before you try it...

This will play Source fine; not sure about the unreal engine but I would assume so if you were on low settings. I've seen this laptop handle med to low settings on Crysis.
i just got mine lastnight and i have the 9 cell and doesnt still out too horribly but it does stick ou and raises it up about an inch which i dont mind again but all goes down to if you think your gonna need alot more battery on the go 9 cell lasts awsomely but if u dont want it to stick out and sacrifice less time then thats all up to your personal preferences
Ummm, the 1530 allows an LED screen with a 2.0MP camera where the 1330 downgrades the camera if you opt for LED. Also, no blu-ray on 1330. Why do you not research before you do a video on a comparison????

get a dell xps gaming laptop. they are a little heavy and thick, you may not like it if youre looking for style. for games get 4 gb of ram and a good graphics card and high resolution screen
for any kind of gaming the alien ware is the way to go or go to hp or dell . it depends on what kind of gaming, if you are the likes of crysis then go for a really strong alienware.
multimedia? well for multimedia mac os x is definitely what you want so i would go with the macbook pro if multimedia was my only concern, however, remember that the MBP has a fairly heftier pricetag.
how the heck does it come with 3 gb, that is impossible it has to be 1,2, or 4 gb of ram. i though the xps m1530 came with only 2 ram slots, unless someone decided to sell 1.5 gb sticks of ram.
U can even play Gothic 3 on that, i'm thinking on buying a xps 1530 with the same specs for light gaming, although i think that machine can run crysis too.
I am planning to get one with 3gb ram and I heard that is not a good idea because dual core will only run the first 2gb simultaneously (so maybe 1 gb in each core). The evidence is that owners admit the comp doesn't display 3gb on the system device screen. Anyone got a 2nd opinion?
get the 2 gig, and if it runs too slow, buy extra and install it yourself... it'll cost much less and then you can see if 2gb is enough... if it's not just install an extra gig.
I could but I don't want to void the warranty. I am ok with upgrading desktop but I have never done it with a laptop before so the risk would not justify the saving.

It's a little better with the 9-cell battery, because the back of the pc gets lifted up by 1 or 2 cm. This will bring more air under the pc :)

If you want to play COD5 the minumum Video card the game asks is 256 Mb so it maybe cudn't work.
You cud better take a XPS 15.4" at their side you can still upgrade RAM to 4096Mb and more HDD

it should be good enough. XPS laptops are not really Gaming laptops but Multimedia laptops. But they are still very good for playing games with.

2nd: if you read on, you would see that Xps "LAPTOPS" are "High End" (Not 'Gaming')
XPS Desktops are Gaming computers, YES.
But Xps Laptops, the one here is not. They are really good media laptops capable to play games to a Very Satisfactory level.

well, i getting this laptop soon and i`m woundering if this laptop can handle PC games like HL2 episode 2 if i were to make the video card a 280MB nivada GT 8600.

This will play Source fine; not sure about the unreal engine but I would assume so if you were on low settings. I've seen this laptop handle med to low settings on Crysis.

i just got mine lastnight and i have the 9 cell and doesnt still out too horribly but it does stick ou and raises it up about an inch which i dont mind again but all goes down to if you think your gonna need alot more battery on the go 9 cell lasts awsomely but if u dont want it to stick out and sacrifice less time then thats all up to your personal preferences

Ummm, the 1530 allows an LED screen with a 2.0MP camera where the 1330 downgrades the camera if you opt for LED. Also, no blu-ray on 1330. Why do you not research before you do a video on a comparison????

I don't know about the m1330 but when the m1530 is plugged in with the adapter, you keep on feeling static electricity on the aluminum finish.

I got a M1330 on the way to me in the mail.
T9300 2.5Ghz, 4Gb Ram, 320Gb HDD and the 8400.
Chose size over graphics since I get my gaming fix on the Xbox 360

You can EASILY tell the M1330 has the shitty Samsung panel while the M1530 has either the AU Optronics or LG panel (which are the sharper and better ones)!

get a dell xps gaming laptop. they are a little heavy and thick, you may not like it if youre looking for style. for games get 4 gb of ram and a good graphics card and high resolution screen

for any kind of gaming the alien ware is the way to go or go to hp or dell . it depends on what kind of gaming, if you are the likes of crysis then go for a really strong alienware.

multimedia? well for multimedia mac os x is definitely what you want so i would go with the macbook pro if multimedia was my only concern, however, remember that the MBP has a fairly heftier pricetag.

I am planning to get one with 3gb ram and I heard that is not a good idea because dual core will only run the first 2gb simultaneously (so maybe 1 gb in each core). The evidence is that owners admit the comp doesn't display 3gb on the system device screen. Anyone got a 2nd opinion?

get the 2 gig, and if it runs too slow, buy extra and install it yourself... it'll cost much less and then you can see if 2gb is enough... if it's not just install an extra gig.
