Well, i like the way you say trombone, anyway when i got my trombone i was so careless, now Ive been playing for about a year, the slide has been through so much, i recently bought i used one, and i want to take as care of it as possible, your information was great and clear, thank-you very much, and someday when im in the Ohio State Marching Band, i'll be sure to remember you,
@MetalFlyingFox Thanks for your question! :) Depending on how much you play, you may want to clean it anywhere from every other week to every few weeks. I generally clean mine when the slide starts feeling gummy and lubricant doesn't help. Also, it's a must to clean your horn if you've been sick, so you won't breathe in germs every time you play!
@Videoseeker234 I really like slide-o-mix; it gives the slide a lot of freedom and doesn't gum up like some lubricants. It can dry out pretty quickly, though. On my slide, I apply slide-o-mix according to the directions, and then add a thin coat of trombotine up around 1st-2nd position. It seems to give the slide-o-mix some staying power, without making the slide too sluggish. It's very helpful to experiment with different products to see which ones work best on your horn!
