Followed this band since their first Album, I am now going on 54 years of age, and countless Albums later ........they are still the Best..........What a journey........:Thanks Hawkwind for the Fantastic Ride.................)
A fantastic album: for me, it was their very best, most complete and inspired work. I really love it. Noone brings back this famous unique decade of rock music: but we were lucky enough to be a part of it ...
So many years ago it feels like it never was. As my life changed and I moved on the sounds and memories of summers listening to Hawlwind have not left me. memories of people and places no longer visible to any one but me.
Definitely one of the best Hawkwind Tracks of all time. Many versions since but the original is stll the best. Great photos and a real history of the band that has produced some of the best and most underated performers of our time.
Fantastic video to a truly brilliant song.I went to see them in 1973 and was completely blown away by this space rock.Some good memories come back watching this.I was 15 then and 50 now and still love Hawkwind.If anyone fancies a bit of later Hawkwind try and watch the Moonglum video posted on youtube and Elric The Enchanter in that order.Dave Brock for PM.
Reminds me of driving to north Devon to go surfing from south Devon. One such day in 81. After a surf i saw a sign that said festival I followed the signs to a place called Snapper. I went parked the car next to a large white estate and ther was captain Brock sat inside. Casually i walked up and said what time you on. They played old stuff. Magnu, Assault and Battery etc etc. Oh Mother gong played to.
One of the most beautifully powerful rock songs of all time. When you hear the beginning guitar riff, you know you're in for a hell of a song. And the last few minutes where they just totally rock out is pure musical bliss. Such frantic and powerful drumming and an incredible guitar solo. Such a beautiful melody.
Between Stacia and Lemmy is Alan Powell (drums) Hawkwind had two drummers (on & off) during the 74-76 period the other being Simon King whom Powell replaced originally and then King returned to the fold.
Between Lemmy and Brock is Simon House (Violin/Keyboards) 74-79 + during the late 80's and early 90's he played with Hawkwind at various times.
this song was recorded live at edmonton sundown 23/01/74, I was 16 years old and had just won a hawkwind competition, the prize was to go on the full european tour with them,it was called the ridiculas roadshow, and another part of the rize was to sing backing vocals on stage with the band, this is the song i,m singing backing vocals to, just my little claim to fame.. enjoy..EDDY.

Thanks Floydyboy69 for the great pictures Been a fan since 72?
Shit how time flies!! As RodrogerAu says, if they were as accessible then as they are now. They would have been HUGE!!
So much ahead of their time!! But then that is the nature of Space Rock. :(

@RodrogerAu
I've followed them since the start also, I'm 55, if only they were as accessible in the old days as they are now !
I like Nick Turners band Space Ritual because they play the older stuff. I never liked the period with Arthur Brown in the Hawkwind though.
