my favorite player in linux. make sure you install from the terminal (v1.0.1). The version available from the software manager library in Kubuntu and likely other distros is way outdated and buggy (v0.7).
I agree this player top notch. I used to use songbird, which was my winamp replacement on linux, but since they stopped supporting the linux platform, I didn't have a good music player and as dynamic until Clementine. I was waiting for Nightingale but they are lazy developers. The rain effect does add in a bonus touch when playing slow songs. A+ app review gotbletu as usual
shakira and mariah carey? rolffffffffffffffffff wow
@carnager thats weird, an opensource music player, tie into a paid service like lastfm, well does it help them make money atleast? Otherwise, dont really see the point as not many ppl use those paid services so why bother integrated by default
Only problem with Clementine on KDE: its visuals look unpolished if compared to the desktop (guess it's because of have being forked from amarok 1.4, a kde 3,5 app). Other than that, it's sweet!
@gotbletu From Wikipedia: "(Clementine) is a port of Amarok 1.4 to the Qt 4 framework and the GStreamer multimedia framework. It was created because the Amarok transition from version 1.4 to version 2 was criticized by some users, as a consequence Clementine has been established, based on Amarok 1.4.x"

So I think it's ok if it feels kinda out of place at the new fancy KDE4 desktop!
So have you switched to using KDE as your primary? Or do you still use Gnome? For me, even KDE 4.6 was slow for me. I even had lag just typing up some scripts or any basic text for that matter in Kate. I might give it another try using your performance improvement tips.
@FloobenShnooben yea the default sucks, well the whole distro sucks actually, i had to build it up myself, maybe ill show ppl how to do that to really make this crap faster haha

@gotbletu they have a free service that lets you keep track of what you listen to. It even works with some online radios.

Pretty cool.
Does it used a lot of memory?
samphilomath 1 year ago
@samphilomath think it was about 50mb or 60, but compare to amarok is much better experience. But is not a lite music player by any means.

The Love and Ban buttons are shtrcuts for the last.fm functions. As far as i know they don't do anything in clementine proper
Flackon 1 year ago
@Flackon oic, so is a waste of space then, oh great =)
gotbletu 1 year ago
@gotbletu Not really. If you don't use last.fm you can disable the buttons in the last.fm section of the preferences.

pretty nice media player, good find. are there a lot of kde only deps for this? I don't use KDE, hence my question.
