And where have you met several of these black Latinos? In USA where you guys keep promoting a "look" for Latinos? Where our history in Latin-America is NEVER taught correctly? @paoadabelle Sure, just as a Black American would identify MUCH more with other Americans. Nationality is an entirely different thing from race, and from the many Black Latinos I've met, they understand that. Not saying every single Black Latino identifies with Black Americans, just as not every single Mexican immigrant identifies with a 5th generation Chicano. But regardless of how much or how little identification there is, the SHARED racial/ethnic history can often supersede other identities.

And yeah, I guess I have "shared history" with Natalie Portman, but I don't feel connected to her. Black Latinos don't reach goals for YOU, but for their country.

I live on the West Coast and many of my Mexican friends who weren't even born here tend to claim being American MUCH MORE than they do Mexican. Most of the Mexicans out here either try to act Black, or they try to act White, but they hardly EVER like to be associated with their Mexican ethnicity or latino nationality. So again, speak for YOU, not for all Latinos!

YOU on the other hand only talk about USA, social norms in USA, standards in USA and sorry to tell you, that does NOT represent Latin-America. If you meet a white Venezuelan and ask them "que eres?" (what are you?) They will answer Venezuelan. If you go to the coasts of Mexico and ask someone what they are, they won't answer you triracial, but "Mexicano" or "Jarocho" if they're from Veracruz.

And no, I don't think so. but I guess I'll start considering black people who drive low riders and emulate Chicano culture (very different from African-American) as wanting to be Chicanos. The Chicano culture I see is very different from others. And you're not ethnocentric because you are black and you're proud, but because you believe your way of thinking because of YOUR society is the correct way.

@LeimertDreamer I know Chicanos listen to oldies and even back then those artists appreciated the support and even sang songs for them. Mexican ballads have the same style. You can listen to El Chicano-Sabor a Mi to get the idea. I also know black Americans like lowriders and other aspects of Chicano culture like the art (Mister Cartoon for example). Your claim could easily be used against you, too.
