  • Great intro!

  • You are right. Women respected themselves. It's how the girls are brought up these days. Parents are too busy with their own lives to teach them good morals.. She was and will always be a classy lady and excellant singer!

  • So when muskrats make love they sound like bum notes played on a keyboard? Who would have guessed? Move over animal planet the captains in the house

  • Give me thumbs up if Toni Tennille has the most incredible smile.

  • Toni was so Hot!!

  • What a classy lady.

  • thumbs up with full house brought you here.

  • Definitely one the greatest fun songs ever; and her smile, one the most memorable and persuasive in show biz. Eat you're heart Henry K...muskrat love forever. Thanks for the post.

  • It's such a strange lyric, but the song is wonderful........Toni at her sensual best....

  • totally a song you not just hate, but reeally hate or really really love lol! no gray area. Im a lover of them. this song..not so much as I prefer their upbeat jams. Toni was and still is sooo hot!

  • Whenever I was driving with my father and this song was on the radio, he would try to adjust the radio as the little muskrat sounds played. He always thought it was some sort of static

  • She so reminds me of Lori, my fomer girlfriend of 7 years ago. The eyes and smile make me cry. Wish I had married her! Thanks for posting.

  • Lol here you go Henry

  • Real Class act.

  • HAHA i love this old songs.

  • I used to work on a union dock with a bunch of guys in flanel shirts with Cat Diesel Power hats on. We loved this song and danced to it.

  • It´s a silly song but one must love her

  • yes she is pretty..and classy

  • Omg....this song is so amazing.

  • LOL MUSKRAT LOVE. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA,♥

  • Daryl and Toni, thank you so much for the great memories!!!

  • I have to agree. You would think that people and society would progress as time goes on, but uh ua -- peaked in the 70's maybe early 80's then downhill from there. Right now, we're going faster down than ever ..... O well ... got to live the 70's and enjoyed every millisecond of those fine years!

  • @nickeysgreat It's sad but your words are so true. I'm so glad I got to experience the 70's and have the memories. I feel sorry for the generations that follow -

  • I remember growing up to the Captain and Tennille. Always had a crush on her. Who couldn't like smile and those captivating eyes? Back in the day when people actually enjoyed making music and performing it.

  • You can see the love in her eyes..Brill stuff

  • Makes me happy just watching :)

  • i heard this song at work and was like what is that weird gurggling sound. i looked it up and i cant believe its them, then again i was born in 76. lol.

  • This song is so catchy...it deserves to be remade, modernized.

  • Anytime someone gives me a ration of $#!% over this song, I sing 'em a quick chorus of "Thong Song"; that usually shuts 'em up quick!

Thank you for posting this; I'm adding it to my favorites. . .

    Tom

  • ilove oldies like this one :D

  • Muskrat Love is may all-time favorite. I cry everytime I hear it- and I'm a fomer military fighter pilot!

  • Beautiful, Smart and with talent. I had a crush on her during the 70's. What a voice and the looks.

  • @lfgranes ....positively...show me one guy from the 70's that didnt have a crush on her!

  • awesome

  • just wonderful

  • Good tune, great melody and clever lyrics... she has a nice smooth voice...

  • Awseme NORMALmusic

  • This was great. That simple story before the song spoke volumes of one of many differences in today's/and yesterday's pop culture. Just telling a simple story displayed Mr's Tennille's personality, something rarely seen today >>> Real, genuine, sincere. I forgot how well spoken she was. Not a bad singer as well. The song, however, I can do without.

  • this is the first time I hear them. Its great :)

  • heard sold records,on her looks alone, she is or was good looking

  • I agree about the class....Beyonce is incredibly sexy & gorgeous but I lost all respect 4 her when she shook her tits and ass for a direct tv commercial

  • My mother named me after Tennille. I'm proud to share my name with this woman. She is beautiful AND classy, unlike the majority of women today.

  • I used to LOVE this as a child!!!GOD, the memories...fabulous tune!

  • Many people are unaware...when you sing...to help you stay on key (and not be flat or sharp) you are supposed to smile.

  • How incredibly sexy is Tennile? Just a smile and beautiful skin, and she trumps the naked women danicing on stage every time....

    Sooooooo, cute.

    Larry

  • @LarryStaples AMERICA (the group who sang "horse with no name") did an earlier, and better but less popular version of this song. But with the way WMG is blocking the music on youtube videos, it probably isn't available on YT. One would probably need to get a "History/ America's Greatest Hits" CD to hear their version

  • @smthoman - I think fashion designers intentionally make clothing with very little fabric and sell them at places like Wal-Mart for very low prices. Toni Tennille and Stevie Nicks are both quite beautiful, and I respect them because they can be that way without dressing like trashy hos. lol

  • Only Toni could have taken a silly novelty tune and turn it into a tender love song.

  • @IanHunedoara8 I agree, yet I bet Karen Carpenter could have pulled it off as well.

  • This is one of the first tunes I ever remember hearing! I remember being in the back of my father's station wagon, being car sick, wanting to throw up, hearing the song, but at the same time whining that I wanted the record and being elated (but still nauseas) when my mother said we had it at home... ahhhhhhhh... memories... I guess I was barely 4 or 5... Sweet Fender Rhodes ! ! !

  • Kissinger has no heart nor soul, so it doesn't surprise me.

  • what the heck is that at 2:50 ??

  • Still happily married...

  • greattttttttttttt¡¡¡ fantastc ¡¡¡¡

  • Hit #1 AC, #4 pop in Billboard. God bless!

  • Hit #1 AC, #4 pop in Billboard. God bless!

  • Damn. I forgot all about this face and voice.

  • a truly silly song but too darn cute to not like!

  • Ever since I was a kid, I wondered about the strange enduring chemistry of Captain and Tennille. I remember when their show was on the air, but can hardly remember Daryl Dragon saying a single word. His expression was always blank: a kind of extreme parody of the unflappable straight man. Whereas Toni Tennille was laughing, singing, joking, having the time of her life. Whatever the strangeness, I love Captain and Tennille.

  • A child of the 70s I grew up listening to this almost contantly but never really knew hot hot she was. She's got a great voice too.

  • Compared to many singers today, Tennile is a diva.

  • She sure does. There is just no music like it was in the 70s..

  • She is the best, love you guys. Captain and Tennille are still Nr. 1 in my heart.

  • i wonder why he never sang...

  • I forgot how attractive she was!

  • i love that song

  • She is a doll

  • Yes, I agree with you! :) :)

  • First song i ever slow danced to.....omg

  • LOVE THIS SONG!! lol

  • I like this group, BUT WHAT THE HELL IS THIS??? OMG that song was just weird! My favorite song they do is LOVE WILL KEEP US TOGETHER

  • Its just a cutesy little fun song that makes you smile when you watch Toni Tennille preform it. Maybe try to get a grip on writing stupid comments.

  • For some reason, they remind me a lot of the Carpenters. Great song!

  • I absolutely love this song, always have. It's just a sweet and happy song.

  • I saw this when I was little. I had no idea what a bi-centennial was but I liked the song. Thanks for the background history.

  • @TheMichelleLeeWhite I lived through the Bi-Centennial...I was in the BIG parade in my area. I was 6 years old. :D

Ok...NO comment about how old I am lol.

    ~LauraG.~

  • Her voice is amazing. Always thought she should be doing the great standards of the 1930s, 40s, etc. She (& Marilyn McCoo) had the most lush sound. And Daryl was always so wacky - never fit the mold and love how he doesn't care a bit! Really gifted artists...

  • She did end up singing the standards of the 30's & 40's. She has 6(?) solo CD's of these wonderful songs and she does an awesome job on all of them! I totally agree with you....her voice is amazing!

  • she is so full of positive energy...and a nice feel good smile. Great Vibe! thanks

  • what an adorable southern girl....

  • She's so sweet.

  • It features sound effects created with a synthesizer to evoke the imagined sound of muskrats courting. The single featured an "endless loop" of these sound effects created by encoding the end groove of the 45. More recently, this version has been cited by many as among the worst popular songs ever. i have the 45 rpm , play it on a manual turntable and it works!!!

  • Great voice...why am I still embarresed that I like this song

  • THIS is one fine LADY. I like her sense of humour too

  • Love this song by Captain & Tennille..

I think the only other singer that could have possibly pulled off singing this song so perfectly would have been Karen Carpenter!

  • Could not agree more! Both had great class, smokin voices. NO ONE ever admitted to listening to either, till they were in the car by themselves. TURN up the AM radio and play it right.... MY $0.02

  • Fab Voice!

  • One of the most sensual and best voices ever. Like it so much more than all these yelling Ladies of today. She had style she grace... Toni Tenille gave good face - and voice ;-))

  • Absolutely beautiful. Brings joy to the heart.

  • lovely!!!!

  • i love this song lol

  • Very few voices would be allowed to lullaby me-this is one of them! The quality and richness is as deep as the ocean!!

  • Excellent..I wish they would put them back on TV today to perform all these classics and new one's.

  • Muskrat Sam and Suzie sound very happy together...

  • damn I must be old. I remember this and I still like it

  • Yea and you just have to sing along with it.

  • Women were so fine back then and respected themselves. Nowadays they're just skank hos with tramp stamps on their backs.

    Surf Punks Rule, Capt.

  • @smthoman

you have mentioned a very good point.

  • I know its sugary but it is kinda cool. They were good!!

  • Yeah her smile is awesome!!!

  • its a very sweet song of the duo Cap@Tennille,,.that was music.!!

  • She and Karen Carpenter almost sound identical

  • Karen was more mellow, don't you think ?

  • Toni has five times more voice, it's more elastic and round, and a little of the scratchiness of Gladis Knight

  • Toni is so beautiful and I just love to watch them make music. They can take a really corny song, make it sound like a masterpiece, and put a smile on everyone's face at the same time.

  • One thing I have always noticed about Toni, is that she always has a big smile on her face..always..It's so awesome, she seems to be genuinly happy:)

  • Loved her hairstyle when that first came out; of course now I like her hair much better. I remember them singing it and them having a little cartoon to go along with it. Remember their bulldogs?

  • I loathed this song in the 70s, but funny how now that I hear it once again I think it's pure genius!

  • I always loved the adoring looks Toni's always tossing toward Daryl while she's singing. She seems like such a sweetheart! Those two will be together forever!

  • Yes, I agree. Toni is a sweetheart! She and Daryl will be together forever. They both make me very happy.

  • i noticed that, too. i like that she does that. ps- your name is a reference to "Amadeus"?

  • I agree with 48mmPOV.

    Tennille, you are so sweet!!

    You always make me happy!

  • Very honest Tennille. You're so sweet!

  • love this song as it brings back the good times in that era of music. Had a crush on Toni too wow what a gorgious gal and could sing great too

  • Toni has such a beautiful voice. Daryl is trying to make Toni laugh through the whole song. I was at one of the shows and they did this song, he made her crack up during the whole song.. Priceless!!!

  • great song.. DD was funny as hell as usual.

  • This has always been a love it or loathe it kind of song for a lot of people. Me? I LOVE it!!

  • I agree totally! Its either you hate it and think it is just awful or you love it and think its cute. Me of course I love it as well. It wouldnt matter to me what they were singing about I would love it regardless!
