Tom Waits is my favourite all-time artist, but this is incredible in its own right. Dave Sitek is one of the best contemporary producers and this, i think, is proof of this. Also, it would be so easy for her, as an a-list film star and a-list beauty, to produce a generic pop album, but she chose to create an homage to one of the defining artists of the last 50 years. I can't see how any Tom Waits fan can be offended by that sort of love - the exact same love we have for Mr Waits.
