@superflame162 She was locked up in the tower/dungeon by the Beast because she left castle grounds to look for a Christmas tree in the forest. She almost drowned in the icy pond but Beast saved her...then he locked her up in the dungeon.

@PianoDisneygal10 I believe Bernadette has the melody in the first section where the two sing together, and then she switches to the harmony on the "as long as our guiding star". The harmony is, of course, the lower part on this. They blend so, so perfectly. Paige and Bernadette are a match made in vocal heaven! And YES, it's a stunning duet! <3

So based on this the greatest of the gifts we receive is love, not hope. John 3:16 supports that very well: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." If God did not love us, he wouldn't have done this for us. Sermon over.

The point of this movie was that Christmas brought the residents hope, just as Belle did. The lyrics reflected that. I'm not saying that love isn't important. I'm simply saying that love was not the central theme of this movie, or its songs. The theme was hope.

@ladyofrillwater However, on the point of religion we still can debate. I can show a place where Walt Disney himself brought scripture in to a movie. I the original Jungle Book, after the fight with Sher Khan, and Baloo was unconscious, Bagheera said "Greater love hath no one than he who lays down his life for his friend." That is John 15:13.

@BuckWilliams17 What he chose to do in Jungle Book is his decision. I'm not saying doing so is wrong for a writer to do. My issue was not with this. The Bible has some lovely quotes sprinkled in it, and I don't disagree with using them as literary devices.

My qualm was that you took issue with a lyric that was written purely because of the movie's theme, based on a passage in the Bible. To me, that seemed quite silly.

It may be as simple as hoping for a promotion or hoping for good weather, or as profound as hoping that your mother pulls through or life gets better. Hope is as much a central part of humanity as love is. Without it, we would have died off long ago.

I would think they would want to go for QUALITY rather then QUANTITY the way Walt did back in the day. Our world is not what it once was. The guiding factor for most today is none other the pieces of paper with dead presidents on them (With the exception of Ben Franklin), but you get my drift.

@rextony22 She tried to set up Christmas, which the Beast forbade, and when she snuck out to get a tree, things went bad, Belle ended up in the water being dragged down and Beast saved her and basically then threw her there. I don't give great explanations so you may want to watch the movie ^^;
