Bernadette Peters (Angelique) is quite possibly the greatest broadway singer/actress ever. If i was Paige O'hara (Belle) i would have passed out when she walked into record this
it totally sucked when it went from VHS to DVD's because alllll my classic Disneys are on VHS, and I can't afford to keep buying cheapo VHS players that break or rebuy every single movie on dvd!!! I miss my movies sooo bad!
@superflame162 She was locked up in the tower/dungeon by the Beast because she left castle grounds to look for a Christmas tree in the forest. She almost drowned in the icy pond but Beast saved her...then he locked her up in the dungeon.
Such an amazing duet! Is that Belle/Paige doing most of the harmony, with Angelique/Bernadette doing mostly the melody? It's a little difficult to tell.
@PianoDisneygal10 I believe Bernadette has the melody in the first section where the two sing together, and then she switches to the harmony on the "as long as our guiding star". The harmony is, of course, the lower part on this. They blend so, so perfectly. Paige and Bernadette are a match made in vocal heaven! And YES, it's a stunning duet! <3
Just listening to this song on my phone on the way home from the ER. I almost cried because of the message that it sends. I've decided to sing this at church this sunday for our Christmas Candlelight service. I hope the other people there get the message.
Do you remember wanting to run through the plains of Africa with Simba?
Swing through the jungle with Tarzan?
Go to the enchanted castle with Belle?
Go to the ball with Cinderella?
Ride a magic carpet with Aladdin?
Save China with Mulan?
Shrink to toy size with woody?
Turn into mer-people and go under the sea with Ariel?
If you do or want Disney to bring back movies like this re-post, this note maybe the Disney Corporation will see it and get their heads on straight
You can see Belle trying to convince herself that decorator is wrong when she's telling her that chrsitmas was hopeless. Then when she says, "But...I was wrong." I just want to cry!
@pomskilene I hate it when people say Thumbs up if your watching (insert date here), it's like noo I'm watching this in the Year 1000 on my iStone -_-
@GamerGirl961 I'm sorry. That was the first time I did that, and I didn't expect anyone to thumbs up. Again, I apologize. I normally hate it when people do that, but I couldn't help myself.

Belle has a beautiful voice regarless of her age. :') So much energy in her voice. I love the 1:14-1:26 part :) I loveee her voice right there. So beautiful.
I had this movie before the actual one XD and I lost this and ripped the other one when I was small ya know what i ripped all my movie when I was small they were in Caset so yeah bad me >=\
"That hope is the greatest of the gifts we receive."
I disagree, reason being, 1 Corinthians 13:13 says: "So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love."
So based on this the greatest of the gifts we receive is love, not hope. John 3:16 supports that very well: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." If God did not love us, he wouldn't have done this for us. Sermon over.
@ladyofrillwater Just because I quoted the Bible does not mean I'm automatically wrong, nor does it mean I am automatically right. You want me to support my theory with something other than the Bible, I can do that. We as a human race go through life hoping to find that special someone. And for the precious few who find that person, get to experience something greater; true love. Something that lasts forever. This feeling outshines hope 100-fold if not more.
@BuckWilliams17 I never said you were wrong. I simply questioned why one would bring religion into the lyrics of a Disney movie.
The point of this movie was that Christmas brought the residents hope, just as Belle did. The lyrics reflected that. I'm not saying that love isn't important. I'm simply saying that love was not the central theme of this movie, or its songs. The theme was hope.
In addition, I think you're being incredibly dismissive of hope itself. (cont.)
@ladyofrillwater However, on the point of religion we still can debate. I can show a place where Walt Disney himself brought scripture in to a movie. I the original Jungle Book, after the fight with Sher Khan, and Baloo was unconscious, Bagheera said "Greater love hath no one than he who lays down his life for his friend." That is John 15:13.
@BuckWilliams17 What he chose to do in Jungle Book is his decision. I'm not saying doing so is wrong for a writer to do. My issue was not with this. The Bible has some lovely quotes sprinkled in it, and I don't disagree with using them as literary devices.
My qualm was that you took issue with a lyric that was written purely because of the movie's theme, based on a passage in the Bible. To me, that seemed quite silly.
@BuckWilliams17 Hope can be, and often is, a byproduct of love. And everyone has hope in some shape or form; without it, we would die of despair. It may be as simple as hoping for a promotion or hoping for good weather, or as profound as hoping that your mother pulls through or life gets better. Hope is as much a central part of humanity as love is. Without it, we would have died off long ago.
@thegrandmasteryoda Even though I agree 110%, why would they go back to pen and paper when they've got the computer? I would think they would want to go for QUALITY rather then QUANTITY the way Walt did back in the day. Our world is not what it once was. The guiding factor for most today is none other the pieces of paper with dead presidents on them (With the exception of Ben Franklin), but you get my drift.
They'll alway's be a time on Earth, when the World is filled with Peace and Love". Those are very beautiful words: This is just a beautiful song, and as I heard this I teared up! Remember what you said "As long as there is Christmas, I truly believe that hope is the greatest of the gift we'll recevie!
Angelic truly did bear the name of a true angel. And so the true meaning of christmas filled her heart with happiness and joy. For she shall be rewarded with humanity as all who are under the spell shall ever be rewarded. For more wonderful, more purposeful by far than all the times of sadness, despair, and hopelessness which have come before was that one little ever shining second of hope. Blessed is the change of heart for all shall be human, again. Now and forever after. Amen.
I get so teary-eyed when they start harmonizing. And then I actually cry as Belle finishes the song. GAH! Such a beautiful and touching message right there <3
@kyoishott13 Same here! This song always brings tears to me, because it reminds me that Christmas is more than just trees, tinsels, and presents! There is always a moment when the world will feel hope and peace, and that's Christmas! <3
i feel like she didn't even need music.. and i feel like if there was no music in the background this would have been so beautiful... it's still great though don't get me wrong
