  • Anyone that knows which venue? Någon som vet var i Sthlm det är filmat?

  • @Rudarskrutt Hi, I've checked my original files and notes but sorry can't find where it was recorded. Opening and concluding notes on the video don't reveal the place. I also googled it but can't find help there either. Glad if someone can help here.

  • Everybody knows who The King of Soul James Brown is; but everybody forgets about Joe Tex. Joe could do it all, sing & he could dance almost as good as The Godfather himself. . Joe was really good at singing ballads.

    Joe was one BAD man

  • At 8:03 coolest trick with a microphone stand ever?!!haha lol

  • thats the NUT !!!

  • N!!CE

  • Joe Tex rules! It's glaringly obvious that James Brown completely ripped him off and ran with it. It's sad that Joe Tex never got the credit he deserved, but thanks to Youtube we can all see the truth and appreciate the talent some 40 years later

  • Thanks for upload, killer perfomance.

  • Joe Tex was one of the most creative Soul artists ever. He effortlessly blended funk, soul, country, and southern rock. It's even said that he is one of the INVENTORS of Funk and that James Brown stole his sound and his girl. Whatever the truth, you can hear it in the music.

For me it goes way deeper, he hit a big nerve with the rock audiences of his day. That changed the direction of pop music forever. He had that party humor and the ability to cross Soul Music over to Rock and vice versa.

  • @gezaxx Thanks for comments, couldn't agree with you more.

  • @gezaxx - While Joe Tex was a great performer, James Brown did NOT steal his sound! James Brown is now credited with creating funk, 'beginning with 'Papa's Got A Brand New Bag' in 1965. It was on the '1 and 3', not '2 and 4' beat. Joe Tex's songs after this started to copy James Brown's funk.

  • absolutely wonderful joe tex one of a kind thanks

  • wow I met this gentleman early 7Os in Chgo, I had just begun my career and he was killing everybody that was on a show with him! What an awesome talent.

  • Joe Tex recorded albums in Memphis and Nashville. Noone on Beale is covering him. What a talent.

  • Awesome show...

Has this Live show been released on CD or DVD...does anybody know ? Thanks in advance...

  • I don't think so, not that I know of anyhow.

It's from a VHS-recording I made of the show when swedish TV broadcasted it after they've discovered it in their vaults some years ago.

  • Hey 5BlindBoys...

Thanks for the reply and info...and thanks again for this great Joe Tex upload..

  • epmd sampled: Papa was too.....classic tune though

  • Underrated - Joe was FABULOUS - thanks for posting!

  • Damn! Joe was laying down some serious funk and busting some fly ass moves!

  • One of the most underrated performers that ever lived.

  • great!!!! show me...

  • It's sad the animosity that existed between him and JB. That would have been a great show, if they would have had a show together.

  • What a stellar performance from Joe and his band! He always had a great time onstage, a true natural showman. He brought a bit of comedy to his music. You are sorely missed, Mr. Tex!

  • Hi, glad you liked that. Yeah always liked his good humour he brought to his songs and his fantastic mix of soul, funk and country.

  • So underrated... a funk soul brother supreme, Mr. Joe Tex!
