It was 40 years ago! Yes what he did was criminal, but it was a very long time ago. He's now a very respected educator, a Professor at the University of Chicago. He was named Chicago Person of the Year recently. He has been an upstanding law-abiding citizen for several decades now. What is the problem here? These right-wing loons need to come up with another phony outrage because nobody is buying this crap.

The problem here is that he committed a terrorist act. I'm not pinning it on Obama but dam, the guy blew up buildings. He got off on a technicality. Think of OJ. He was found not guilty but he would never be able to get a job teaching kids!
I find it amazing that instead of just saying "it has nothing to do with Obama" people atually go so far as to defend Ayers.

i don't think anyone defends the blowing up of buildings, but you have to keep in mind that people were never targeted during the weathermen attacks. OJ deliberatelly killed those 2 people. i still condone the bombings though, but i will not go as far as bill-o and beck-o

No the problem is that that is exactly what people have been saying since this "nontroversy" broke. We've said "it has nothing to do with Obama" hundreds of times. Obama has on multiple occasions categorically condemned what Ayers did and made it clear he had absolutely nothing to do with it. Yet, the right-wing loons insist on continuing to try and make this a story and they keep saying "there are still questions about the extent of their relationship, when they're aren't.

And Nobody is defending Ayers' actions but they have to be put into the correct context since he has been a law-abiding, and even honored citizen in his community for decades now. And don't kid yourself, the only reason he is even a "story" is because of people that want to tear Obama down. I agree, the era in which Ayers was protesting 50,000 American soldiers were dead and possibly a half million Asian people were dead for a concocted military industrial complex promoted war. Greed and power was the name of the game and Ayers and the Weatherman were doing something Americans had always stood against, tyranny. Vietnam was the warm up to Iraq, Halliburtons baby, and the only reason its not as protested is lack of war reporting and the press is limited and censored.

As far as the Obama non connection: the election is over. Obama won. The connection issue is dead.
And I would not say no one cared about Ayers. Because of double jeapordy he cannot be tried again so there's nothing anyone can do. But he has had serious detractors for decades. He just hasn't been used as an issue in a presidantial election. People care.

Context does matter, that was a long time ago and he reformed himself, people like you act like these things happened yesterday. He was never convicted and now he's moved on to become a law-abiding citizen, get over it. And no, people actually don't care seeing as how he's very well respected in the city of Chicago, and was even named its citizen of the year. The only people that care at this point are right-wing nutjobs who wish to make a link between Mr. Ayers and the President-Elect.

He was an anti-war 60s radical, in a time when there were many. He never killed anyone and wasn't convicted, period. Its not just those "crooked" Chicago politicians like you say, the city of Chicago has embraced him, naming him Citizen of the Year for his service. And calling him a "terrorist" is yet another attempt at making him out to be bigger and scarier than he ever was. He was a 60s radical in protest of an unjust war that claimed millions of lives, as were many other Americans. Yes he committed crimes but he never targeted civilians, the definition of a terrorist. Again, put it in the correct context.

Ayers is now a respected educator that has helped put millions of dollars into public school reform in his community. Before you totally denigrate him for his past, you should wonder if you have done any public service of that kind for your community that would warrant you to be named Citizen of the Year of a major American city.

Yeah I'm sure you were very passionate about Ayers before the presidential race, or even knew who he was. I mean after living as a normal civilian for decades, suddenly he's public enemy #1? Ayres will one day be recognized as an American hero. Millions of Americans were protesting about the government's continuation of the Viet Nam war and what was the government's response...they escalated the bombing. O'Reilly and Beck think Americans should support their government no matter what they do. If they were Germans in the 30s and 40s, they would have supported Hitler. If your goverment is acting criminally it is your responsibility to fight them however you can.
